The Waterfall Hostel suited our needs perfectly. As a family travelling long term we were after a hostel that offered safe and secure parking for our van, out of the hustle and bustle of the city, yet near to all modern conveniences, and we found it here. The rooms are clean, the kitchen is well stocked with dishes and the restaurant and pool area provided a great place to relax and unwind. A great place in particular for families as there is plenty of space to run around. Thanks for a great stay!

Great property, 5 acres on the river with orange, bananas and mango trees. Also has two large pools and a large swimming hole with a waterfall lots of places to sit outside in the shade, bar and a kitchen you can use. We stayed for three weeks and really liked it. The rooms are a little small and rather plain, but we only slept there. The host is Austrailian and we got English movies to watch in the evening. It is also the cheapest hostil around.

I stayed at waterfall hostel on my trip through central america. Peter the owner was very friendly and welcoming. The bus from David to Boquete will drop you off right at the front gate to the hostel. The hostel has two big swimming pool and a waterfall right on the property which is nice for the hot days. There is a communal kitchen with new appliances which i took full advantage of as not all hostels have kitchens. There is a small supermarket just up the road you can walk to to get groceries to cook, or if you dont feel like cooking there is a restaurant and bar you can go to. The wifi had a great connection, could watch movies online and upload photos easily. Will be back here next time im in Panama :)

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at The Waterfall Hostel. The majority of the guests mirror your view. The two swimming pools and the waterfall are a definite highlight and the guests certainly enjoy the access to the restaurant and bar on the premises. And the communal kitchen is definitely a bonus for those travellers and guests who like to cook for themselves. We appreciate your review and look forward to seeing you again on your return visit.

For the price this is a great place but set your expectations correctly. This is a backpackers hostel, not the Waldorf Astoria! Several reviewers said the staff is unfriendly, NOT true! Peter and his crew were very hospitable and were the only ones who picked up the phone when we really needed a place to stay. The waterfall on the property is gorgeous! Great place for travelers on a budget **with the right attitude**. Plus the wifi was strong! So, to sum up, if you're a fancy snowflake, don't bother. If you need a place to crash and like to talk to interesting people in a beautiful location, this is your place.

P.S. There's also a super cute monkey named Tiki on premises. And, supposedly, a sloth!

I have just spent the most relaxing 3 days at Waterfall Hostel, thank you so much Peter and staff, it was just what I needed! Situated a short drive from the hassle of David (on the way to Boquete) and only recently opened, it has everything you could ask for and more. Hot showers (and not the scary suicide type I've encountered in the past), wifi, laundry facilities, communal kitchen, Peter even supplied me with his collection of dvds so I could watch movies in my room on my HUGE flatscreen tv. Wow, what a treat! This is really not the regular hostel you've been to, right down to the fluffy gigantic white towels & super comfortable beds & pillows. Peter has thought of everything to make it feel like a home. I'll be back. Thanks again.

I was mugged while walking alone on the road from the bus stop to the hostel. Staff did not seem to care and were surprised I wanted them to call the police. The owner tried to act like a nice guy but didn't follow through. We agreed that I would have breakfast there at 7AM, he would print out my flight ticket which was emailed to him, and he would call for a taxi to come at 7:45 AM. He showed up late so I missed breakfast, had not printed out my flight ticket, then called for a taxi without telling him the time so the taxi was waiting while he was trying to print my ticket. I didn't need that stress in addition to the previous day's mugging!

We were very sorry to hear that someone had snatched your purse outside of the hotel premises although we did everything in our power to assist you at the time. We understand how such an incident could affect your view of the hostel despite the fact it was not connected to the hostel in any way. We were happy to talk to the police and assist in whatever way we could at the time. We also apologise for the misunderstanding regarding breakfast as you told our staff that you were running late and would get breakfast on the way as you were afraid of missing your connection. We go out of our way to ensure that all of our guests have a relaxing stay at The Waterfall Hostel, although unfortunately we have no control over what happens outside of our premises. Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review.

I wish I could rate a negative number. I'm not sure if the other reviewers stayed at the same place I did because my experience at this hostel was the polar opposite. The room was downright filthy. It appeared to have not been cleaned in months. There were spiders/cobwebs/roach sheddings between the sheets, mangy towels, layers of dust, used toiletries left behind by previous guests, etc.,.
I was booked for a 2 night stay but due to a family emergency was only able to stay one night. Which was more than enough for me. Peter, the owner, was really nice and all but the uncleanliness, clusterphobic inducing rooms, and shower from hell (almost literally-abit of shower whispering was needed in order not to be scalded) will not make me a repeat customer. Good luck and safe travels to all.

We are a family of 4, with two little girls. There are two swimming pools with fresh cool water that the girls really loved. There’s also access to the river and a small waterfall. The hostel is set on several acres of land so there was plenty of room for our kids to play and run. Peter the owner is laid back and was very accommodating. It’s a nice place to get away from the city, but still be close enough to do business.

Arrived in the afternoon and saw a old dirty and filthy hostel.
Owner was not there. Only a sheet with a number on the door. Our taxi driver was so kind to call him. After giving us the brief and more than unpleasant response the hostel is closed he hung up.
This we experienced after a confirmed booking from the hostel!

Sorry, but we had a medical emergency and had to rush a guest to the hospital. Dont know how you can comment that the Hostel was old, dirty and filthy when you never entered the hostel. This does not follow other glowing reviews. Again we are sorry the owner was not there to great you, but a medical emergency of a guest will always take precedence.

Hello, I hope your received my reply I sent earlier from my Ipad, all this modern technology is not all its cracked up to be. To answer you questions firstly no will do not have fridges in the room, as a hostel we try to target the budget traveller and as such have limited facility in order the keep or rates down..Having said that are rooms are very comfortable and all have been recently renovated with new shower and toilet facilities, new mattresses and linen. We do have a full equipped kitchen with new stove, fridge etc and well as all the usual appliances. We are located about 5 minutes out of town on the main road to Boquete surrounded by trees on 2 hectares of land, we have a stream running the length of the property, 2 swimming pools and our own waterfall. Our private rooms with Ac standard rate is 30 dollars per night, but for and extended stay of one month or more we charge 20 dollars per night with a minimum of 30 nights payable in advance. We are not quieter the the hostels in David central and much cooler as we are surrounded by the river and trees. I have lived her for over ten years and would be happy to assist you with contacts and local advice. If you have and questions please let me know. Regards, Peter Lewis Owner
