It was kind of a strange experience. We were the only guests at this huge resort, kind of reminiscent of The Shining - lol! That being said, the staff were extremely friendly and eager to please. Rooms were a bit dated but clean and ac works well. Food was delicious. The second day we were fortunate to have another couple arrive, fellow Canadians and had lots of fun with them. The only thing we found really annoying was that there No lounge chairs at the pool and no chairs at all at the beach. You were lucky to find an old log to sit on if you were doing a long walk.

Do not waste your money here. The photos must be very old, the place is dilapidated and in need of a serious overhaul. Staff are trying their best but it is beyond tired. Power goes off regularly. Bed had plastic protective sheet. Room generally dirty and just old. Excursions are not available as advertised. There is access to black sand beach. But that is it. Nothing at the beach, no lighting at night. The poor pool attendant has to use a torch crooked in his neck to see what he is doing to clean the pool. Food is mediocre. It charges full tourist rate for not a lot. Bottom do not bother.

The black sand beach is beautiful, though extremely hot in the daytime. The sunset/night sky are truly remarkable, the stars appear only a few feet away, simply beautiful. Horseback riding on beach was awesome. The resort staff was truly accommodating. The pool was cloudy from all the day pass users. But there’s NOTHING else nearby. The resort itself is so outdated I’d equate it to an old Motel 6. The room extremely disappointing. We had the 2-bedroom suite, didn’t know it had small spiral staircase leading to the second bedroom. Treacherous for my legally blind travel mate. The small refrigerator was rusty and microwave extremely small. We had to wrestle with the sliding door to go out to the balcony. The king bed was hard and covered in a plastic mattress pad. Yes we slept on a crib bed. I’d read that the rooms were being updated. However, we (5 couples) were not fortunate to get one of those although by Day 3 of 8, there were only 6 other people at best staying at the resort. The bathroom fixtures are dated to ‘80’s. The food and drinks were pretty good. Be prepared to eat the same things over and over unless you plan to travel the 30-45 minutes one way into David every day. Overall I would not stay again unless there was a complete makeover. I did enjoy the serenity of the area during the week days.

Checking-In was a mess after the guy at the reception send us to 3 ! wrong rooms. Lovely huge terrace, coffee machine- but no real cups. Service in the restaurant was very slow. But the beach is really nice, very few people around, sunshade provided. It is not a luxury place but we enjoyed our time.

My husband and I went to Las Olas for a weekend away to relax & rejuvenate from the demands of every day life, well, we left a day early. Staff was friendly but definitely not going out of their way to help you. Restaurant service was SLOW.. food was delicious BUT we got our drinks AFTER our meal was finished. My husband ordered a side of patacones which came late, at that time I asked the server if I could have a side of Chimmichuri sauce.. he told me “no, that is the way it is prepared.” Are you kidding me??? So of course no one asked how everything was or if we needed anything. The room.. doable, but the website says “safe” in room.. sure, there was a safe. No key!! They key for the front door did not work in the patio door which is also your walk out to the beach., so walk around the building to unlock the door after being at the beach. The photos show a coffee pot in the room.. haha, nope! Thankfully we are picky & brought our Melita (poor over coffee) & electric tea pot & our own coffee. The advertisement mentions relaxing with coffee on your patio hmmm. Also advertised as bottled water in the room.. again, nope! Again, thankfully we brought our own with a cooler since a small fridge was not mentioned. The property is a mess!! Garbage, beer bottles, wine bottles laying around & it was lovely stepping off our patio to many nasty cigarette butts along our walk. Huge disappointment, would not recommend. Thankfully we only live an hour away and were able to just come home.. at the loss of a night we payed for but neither one of us were able to sleep well.. sheets were weird, heavy comforter & the windows don’t open so no fresh air at night, no listening to the waves, just the noisy AC. The photos of the property must be old because definitely not what we found!

We arrived at Hotel Las Olas Beach Resort Oct. 3, 2021 and were booked for 5 nights. The hotel rooms were moldy, outdated, and smelled terrible. The pool had not been cleaned and the grounds were dirty and unkept. It was obvious that Covid had a huge impact on this property and the pictures shown on Trip Advisor do not reflect what the property looks like now. We left after one night and would not recommend this property.

The pool area and will he staff are great. The rooms were comfortable but furniture could use some updating. Good water pressure, hot shower. Food from the restaurant was really good, breakfast included. All in all it was very enjoyable time and the prices are good as well with Jubilado discount.

We visited for the holidays in December 2019. The highlight of our trip to Panama, at least I thought, was going to be Las Olas Beach Hotel Resort. I researched Las Olas. I saw pictures and on-line brochures. I read reviews, focusing on the more positive ones (because I did not want to be disappointed). I was thinking of the excursions offered by the resort that I wanted to go on (see picture). Luckily, my husband suggested we just relax and enjoy the resort instead of trying to figure out which excursion to go on. There were so many choices and we had so little time. Welp, I was disappointed. When we pulled up to the resort, it looked like it needed a fresh coat of paint and a horticulturist or someone with a green thumb. The caged parrot in the front of the property was a bit off-putting but that is just me. I looked to big to be in the cage. My first sign of something being off, we arrived a bit early so we sat by the pool and ordered something to drink (juice for both) and an order of fries for me. I can tell a lot by a restaurant’s fries. It took almost 45 minutes to get our juice and the fries were not warm when they arrived later. To the room...there was a crack on the ceiling near the ceiling fan...an unforgiving and uncomfortable looking crack over the bed. They charged for everything in the room (resorts at least give you coffee free and at times water free...not this place-see picture). Luckily, we purchased water and snacks in David before arriving. I can go on and on. This place has so much potential but the money may not be there for updates or maybe the owners are lax because they know there is no other hotel, motel or resort within 30-45 minutes of that location and on the beach. Those who work there should be commended. They did everything! The waiters and waitresses are seen cleaning around the pool, working the bar and quite possibly cleaning the rooms! That is why it took so long for our juice and my fries...I am assuming. One thing that was commendable...the food. Make sure you pay for meals with your reservation, if you plan to eat on site...it is less complicated since those on-site may be working the dinner guests. If not, drive or walk down a bit. There are beachfront places to eat. I cannot rate them. I did not try them. Would I revisit? If I had no other place to stay because I down there after dark....probably but if there are other options...Nah. I have been to resorts as far away as Fiji and as close as Ecuador (not on a beach...projects directly behind the property behind a fence), no comparison...different levels of resort.

A great stay at a beautiful resort mostly frequented by Panamanians. The pool was perfect, access to the beach easy, food was delicious though service was slow...a good way to enjoy each other's company! Beautiful surroundings. Warm, friendly owners Donna and Juan.

I wanted to really like this place but it just left me wanting. You can tell that when the place first opened it was probably beautiful and bright. But now, it seems that nothing has been updated since that day and it is just drab and dull. The room was clean, but so dated. The comforter was worn in spots and almost had no color left. The pool area was small with not many seats in the sun, but just ok. I have to say the one night I ate dinner there it was absolutely horrible. I took one bite out of it and did not eat another. I have only ever done that one other time in my life, I hate to waste food, but the pasta was inedible. Overall, the stay was doable. It is not a place to go if you have high standards or are high maintenance. You will be 100% let down.
