We stayed in the hotel for 5 nights in mid-February. The grounds are beautiful and the property is well-kept. All of the staff is very friendly and get to know the guests well. They are there to help in any way possible and will go out of their way to accommodate you. Because it is a boutique inn, it also creates an intimate experience where you get to know the others guests staying on the property. We enjoyed happy hour and game time with our fellow guests, shared activities with them, and even exchanged contact information at the end of our stay. The hotel offers one activity per day included with the daily fee, but you can also add on another activity if you choose (and time allows). All transport is included and the hotel will even supply towels if you do a water-based activity. We enjoyed ziplining, white water rafting, and several hikes. During downtime at the hotel, we played games, did puzzles, played pool, and relaxed by the pool. One thing to note is that the hotel grounds can be cool and rainy because of the high elevation. Even if it is sunny, you still might get wet.

The staff who work there make all the difference in a stay. All are so friendly and helpful from the morning and lunch staff, housekeeping and happy hour/dinner staff. The cooks will try extremely hard to make your meal special. I have a dairy allergy and my meals were awesome! Where they could they omitted the dairy and if they couldn't they would do something special. Housekeeping did a fantastic job keeping the place clean because of the rain we tracked in a lot of water and mud.
The excursions were interesting but could do with more of a writeup of what is entailed. For example the "pipeline hike" was suppose to be very easy, and it was fairly easy but for someone with hip and knee issues it definitely was a challenge. When doing an excursion everything is organized for you, taxi or bus with drivers that have a good handle on English for those of us who do not speak Spanish.
Our rooms were lovely with a sitting area and patio. The only problem we had was that we were close to the lounge area and there were times it was quite noisy. During the day it was fine but late at night was annoying.
The pool is very small and not deep but warm. Lots of areas to sit. There was only about 20 people there while we were there sitting could change if the hotel was full.
If you are looking for a very very relaxing vacation this is for you but if you are a person who needs to be entertained nightly, you will be very disappointed. There is happy hour before dinner, dinner and then most retire to their rooms, or catch a cab to the downtown area.

My family and I spent 6 days onsite at Los Establos after visiting a very hot and humid Panama City for a few days. The weather was perfect with cool nights and warm days with only a few showers. My husband and I agreed that the views from this hotel were the best in town. You are up on a hill away from town but close enough to walk down or a quick cab ride. The volcano is directly in front of the hotel and there are fantastic views from each room.

The hotel is all inclusive and offers three delicious meals a day including traditional Panamanian options. The dining hosts got to know us and even prepared special meals for my 7 year old son who is not a picky eater but who was a little unsure of trying new food each meal.

One activity is included each day and we did them all including hiking to waterfalls, hot springs, horseback riding, rock climbing, zip lining through the rainforest (super cool), hanging bridges and best of all the sunrise ride to the top of Baru volcano. Some of these were an added fee but well with it. A professional guide came with us each tour and transport each provided by the hotel or the guide. We were really impressed with the knowledge, friendliness and professionalism of all of the guides.

The reception was wonderful and we really appreciate Josephine who helped us from booking tours to finding covid tests for us to come back to the US.

The room we stayed in had two queen beds, a large bathroom with two sinks and a nice patio with a table and chairs outside the front porch. There is no air conditioning but the ceiling fan providing plenty of air circulation on the cool nights and we were fine.

My kids enjoyed a dip in the pool each day while we enjoyed happy hour! We would go back again for sure!

On our first trip to Panama, we decided on Los Establos and stayed for a week.
Wow. What a gem. We are so happy we had a one stop itinerary. Los Establos was perfect for us in every way. The entire experience from reservation to the good-bye on our last day was a flawless experience. The staff is absolutely amazing; friendly, cheerful, engaged and helpful in every way possible. The location is optimal for easy access to Boquete, yet perched on a hillside with a commanding view of the valley and Vulcan Baru. The gardens on the property are stunningly beautiful. Most of the property is fringed with coffee bushes. The rooms are beautifully decorated, quiet, spacious and wonderfully furnished. The on-site restaurant is a destination unto itself. The food is amazing with the menu updated daily with familiar foods but also a good choice of wholesome Panamanian cuisine. The spa and pool are both beautiful and functional. While the Inn and faculties on-site provide ample opportunities for rest and relaxation, there is so much to do and see in the surrounding area and the staff is very eager to make arrangements. We hiked to waterfalls, ambled on guided bird walks, visited a coffee farm, wandered the streets of Boquete, went on a honey tasting and butterfly tour. walked on hanging bridges and more. The second to the last day of our stay, a beautiful rainbow appeared suddenly over Los Establos. We knew we had already found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and it was Los Establos. Thank you for a truly wonderful and memorable vacation.

Words fail to capture this wonderful property. Although I enjoy beach vacations, the peacefulness of a mountain escape is my idea of a perfect vacation and Los Establos was simply divine! The lush landscape and panoramic views of Volcán Barú from the balcony of our premium suite were just what we wanted.

The food was always delicious, and we hate dinner with a gorgeous view over the mountains each evening. The dinner menu changed daily with "to die for" soups, delectable entrees, and decadent desserts. Although the breakfast and lunch menu were more set, they were both very delicious and featured daily Panamanian specialities. We usually opted for one of the wonderful soups and salads for lunch. The nightly happy hour was also a hit.

The daily included excursions were all excellent. Our 1st day we opted for the additional cost Island Tour and had a phenomenal day watching the migrating humpback whales from our "private island" while enjoying the delicious fish & chicken cooked on the beach. We also opted for the additional cost Volcán Barú 4x4 sunrise tour, which was amazing but a very rough ride. (We were glad that we scheduled a massage that afternoon as our included "excursion" for the day!) The other excursions we did were: Ziplining, Pipeline Hike, Hanging Bridges Hike, Panoramic Tour, and Coffee Tasting.

What really made our time at Los Establos special was the wonderful staff. Everyone was so kind and gracious and went above-and-beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. Los Establos is gorgeous place, but the people are its heart.

I can't wait to return!

We enjoyed a seven day stay at Los Establos and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Boquete. The inn has exceptional staff. They are warm, welcoming and do everything to make sure you have a great experience. On the morning we left, there was no time for breakfast and they surprised us with a breakfast bag.
The location is beautiful. We never tired of waking to views of the volcano and the grounds are lovely with flowers everywhere. The food is exceptionally good and the happy hour every afternoon is when you get to know the other guests and exchange information about the activities you chose. You arrange activities with the front desk and all the offerings we experienced were memorable. There is a small pool, but the water is quite cool so we didn’t use it. I’m not sure swimming pools are that common in Boquete, due to cooler temps, but that’s the one thing I missed a bit. The other positive is that it only takes five minutes to get to town via taxi. Our trip to Boquete, Panama was made even better by staying at Los Establos.

This is the second time I've taken a family trip to this location, and I would recommend it to anyone looking to visit Boquete. Josefina at the front desk is amazing at booking all of your excursions and helpful with anything else you may need. The chef took special care of our friend who is both gluten-free and diary free due to allergies, including making her special desserts and dishes. Elias, Jean-Paul, Dominque and all of the servers were friendly, and absolutely amazing at their jobs.

The town of Boquete is also beautiful and a relaxing place to get away.

Located in the hills of Boquete, Los Establos Boutique Inn does not disappoint. What makes the place so special are the views, vegetation, food, and staff. As someone who is gluten intolerant, I was pampered by the restaurant staff during a four-day stay. They went out of their way to make incredibly delicious gluten free bread and desserts for me. I was beyond grateful for their care and attention and even left with a hand-written recipe from their amazing pastry chef. The activities are also great. We did two hikes with superb guides, saw the magnificent quetzal bird while hiking, and went to the top of the volcano. We loved the coffee plantation tour as well. I'd go back next week if I could. Thank you to everyone at Los Establos. I miss you!

Los Establos will forever be a special place to us. We traveled to Boquete with immediate family and elderly parents, one with mobility issues. The staff was extremely accommodating and kind, changing to a room without stairs, even relocating our evening meals to keep us from traveling down a path in the evening. The property and rooms are beautiful, views incredible, food delicious, and activities all top notch. We loved Josefina, Mario, JP and all other staff who went out of their way to treat us with kindness and caring. We are hoping to plan a return trip!

Our vacation stay at Los Establos was amazing in every way imaginable. The property is lush and beautiful with impeccable landscapes grounds and amazing views of the mountains and Volcan Baru. Our visit was in late May, which was at the beginning of the rainy season for the region and the long range forecast was 100% chance of rain every day. Don’t let that deter you. Yes - it rained every afternoon, but overall the weather was quite lovely. It’s so consistently comfortable that there are no thermostats in the rooms.
The hospitality at Los Establos is warm and welcoming…all staff members go above and beyond to ensure the satisfaction of their guests.
All of our tour experiences were first rate. We chose the hanging bridges tour and our guide was exceptionally knowledgeable about the Panamanian ecosystem and eagerly shared numerous interesting stories about the history of the Boquete region. Same with the coffee tour, which included tastings of seven varieties including the renowned Geisha coffee. Our favorite tour was a beautiful hike into the Quetzal habitat where our experienced guide did indeed spot a nesting bird and we were treated to a rare sighting.
The meals at the on-site restaurant were so varied and delicious that we didn’t feel the need to venture into town for a lunch or dinner.
The dinner menu changes daily and the chef took great pride in her wonderfully prepared and presented desserts.
NOTE: like many others, we used a certificate from the affiliated promotion company which requires purchase of their all-inclusive package. But for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks along with a choice from numerous daily activities and tours with experienced guides, it was easily worthwhile given the overall quality of our experience.
If you’re considering a visit to Panama, we highly recommend a stay at Los Establos Boutique Inn.

Yes there are, not on the wall as in some places but in a drawer in the bathroom.

Yes there is a common area. As for the alcohol, I saw a group that had purchased their own alcohol and brought it to the common area with no problems. Within the common area there is a fridge that has soft drinks and beer. There is also an open wine rack but I am not sure if anyone can open a bottle. There is a coffee station there as well and I was told anytime I want I can brew coffee.

Our Suites were all on the ground floor. I did not see an elevator. We never once watched Tv while we were there we were having fun enjoying the sights. I am fairly sure that if there is a DVD player in your room that it would work with the DVD from your home. Although there are not a lot of stairs you do need to be aware that the walk down to eat and back up is a little bit strenuous if you have physical conditions or are out of shape like I was but after a few days I got used to it.
