The Wimbi Sun, is located across from the beach area, close to the largest supermarket. The rooms are clean and beds comfortable, the breakfast is very, very average but sufficient to fuel the engine for the day. The team at the hotel are helpful and do their best. Would I stay there again,,, for sure and happy to recommend to others taking into account the points I mention.
Decent good value for money very well located right on Wimby Beach. Large rooms, with no real charm. Clean (but smelling naphtaline) rooms. Overall a bit tired but still functional infrastructure. Only lukewarm water in the shower but it did not matter since it was quite hot weather. Nice and helpful staff. We asked for earlier than usual breakfast open ending at 5:30 instead of 6:00 since we had to travel early and, to my surprise, everything was ready at 5:30!
Spent three nights here in and the rooms were nice, clean well stocked and air conditioned. The free wi-fi worked excellent and both of the rooms we had included small fridges. The only thing that was lacking was the free breakfast. All three mornings they had, bread/toast, a selection of (stale) cold cereals, eggs and a main dish. The main the first day was cut up wieners, second day chicken gizzards and the third day was a pea and carrot mix that had some sort of meat in it maybe something spam-like, but not sure. If the cereal had been fresh and the mains nonexistent we might have been Ok with it, but their choices seemed odd considering the price of the rooms.
We stayed at this hotel for one night on our way to the Quirimbas. It's perfectly located at Wimbe Beach and has a number of decent food options nearby. The rooms itself are rather spartanly decorated but it's clean, the beds are good, and if you are lucky you might be able to connect to the wifi signal. Aircon is strong, the TV reception weak, but the bathroom is spacious and the towels more or less white. It's not a place that has any charm or anything necessarily speaking for itself but it is fairly affordable, they often have rooms, and if it's just for one evening it's perfectly fine.
This hotel has been under renovation for a long time. My last visit here was in 2012... work seems to be ongoin. It is relatively cheap and convenient for quick business trips. Rooms need serious improvements. Showers are not cleaned properly. Not really friendly staff at reception. The breakfast is poor. Comfortable and clean beds. Conveniently located. Offers free WiFi but kind of sluggish. The lobby illegally displays 3 marine turtle shells!!!!! These are PROTECTED species, both nationally and internationally. Pemba is the gateway for Quirimbas National Park. Very poor form!
