The place is good overall, the room was clean with minor defects in the installments such as the sink and aircon. Bathroom is miniscule. Breakfast is okay with good local cuisine such as Nasi Lemak. The Ming suite we were given had a leaking toilet, the servicemen came and claimed to have fixed it but we found out afterwards that it was still leaking. Not a good location to walk to the town/malls, most efficient transport from here would be to use Grab which costs RM5-6 to get to the town centre and jetty.

A large room with a sitting area. Nice rain-head shower. Breakfast is a full buffet. Western, Chinese, Malay and Korean selection. Nice swimming pool area with a bar. Location is ok. Can walk to Imago easily. A Grab to anywhere in or around the city is only a dollar or two. The bed was a little too hard for my liking.

Lives up to it’s name I suppose
Rooms are minging. Utterly disgusting.
Be lucky if it was cleaned from the last person in here.
I stayed for 10 days quarantine and have stay in many hotels for this reason but this hotel is bad.
Food is disgusting and cold every time.
No menu option you get what you get.
There was a take away option from fast food restaurants but only from 4-5pm they would take it to your room.
When it was delivered it took reception 1hr 10 mins to deliver it to my room. Called them 4 times to eventually get it cold of course.
Electrical cables hanging out of walls
Very poor staff that just don’t care on People’s health or hygiene.
Highly recommend to stay away from this hotel.
Would not even give it 1 but that’s not an option.

There is new requirement that require personnel to undergo 14 days quarantine at hotel prior mobilizing to offshore. And this hotel was chosen for this. But the service given by the hotel very terrible. Food given really suck and food delivery very inconsistent and late. Tried order Grab food but it was not sent to room timely. We are human like yourself.

I am an expatriate working in Malaysia and this is my third quarantine / isolation in East Malaysia during Covid-19 pandemic. Unlike other establishments where I have stayed before, there is at Ming Garden close zero effort to make this stay as enjoyable as practically possible. The service is non existent. The rooms don’t even seem to be cleaned between “guests”. Mine is seriously filthy. There is no choice in food and it tastes horrendously bad (and I do enjoy Malaysian and Asian style food). There is no balcony and it is “strictly forbidden to smoke” anywhere. There are even obvious safety concerns like live electric connection inside the showers. Unbelievable. Never experienced anything as bad as this. Avoid at all costs!

Facility is below average for the price. Moods and rusts are common sight when you entered the room. I even found hair on my bed!
Floor mat is not given and even I have requested from front desk (no dedicated housekeeping phone line) the floor mat remained undelivered to my room.
The worst part is lack of service of care and to some level the staffs operating there lack of enthusiasm and honesty. My friend left his backpack at the lobby only found out when he arrived at airport. Called hotel reception to check at the lobby sofa (his last placed his backpack) they told him none … finally my friend decided to go back to hotel to check my himself and thankfully he found his backpack still remained at the lobby sofa.

In summary, highly not recommended. The hotel needed much upgrade and the staffs all need to be changed.

Room Tip: For that price point, one can get much cleaner and better service hotels or home stay in KK

Stayed for3 nights separately for 1 king room and 1 twin sharing room
These are the pros in staying in this hotel
1. Television is available in the room.
2. Free wifi in the room
3.There is free coffee and Sabah tea for us to make with the kettle facility
4. Comfortable mattress to sleep
5. Location is good with Imago shopping mall 15 min walking distance from hotel

Disliked · What I think it can be improved further:
1.Slipper is not provided to the guest
2. Limited tv channels to watch
3. Poor breakfast quality
4. Mould can be seen at the bathroom wall
5. Dirty towel lying on floor next to my bed when checked in. Possibly it was left by the room cleaner.

We joined 6 days 5 nights ground tour and stayed in this hotel upon landing KK for our first night before leaving for Kundasang.
We got the opposite side corner room each other and able to try their breakfast. Unfortunately it was not that tasty albeit could fill up our stomach. We returned to this hotel for 2 night stays and got the different rooms with connecting which was good. On our last day stay in this hotel , we requested for packed breakfast due to our early departure at 630am to Mantamani Island. It was simple breakfast but good enough to provide to us since we could not dine in the restaurant.

Generous sized rooms but they are past their prime.
My room was located near the centre of the building so there wasn't a view or phone reception but the free WiFi gave me all the data I needed. No shortage of power points.
Cleanliness was satisfactory for a 3 star hotel - there was room for improvement. Bath towels slightly grey but felt clean.
Staff were courteous, helpful and cheerful.
Breakfast had a reasonable range of dishes.
While the hotel looks close to the waterfront on a map, negotiating narrow paths and crossing Jalan Coastal takes a little while.
The hotel did a good job setting up the main ballroom and catering for some 'corporate' events.
Not flash but I found the place reasonably comfortable and ok for a couple of nights of business travel.

Just pick this hotel to dine for HariRaya Lunch on 24th May 2020.
Due to CMCO Covid19, this restaurant at Ming Garden is empty. My mom and I got the most attention and very friendly service.
The Ala Carte menu are excellent. Enjoying it. I hope they will design this kind of menu again.
