I absolutely loved it here! This new hostel is magnificent with outstanding facilities. The staffs exceptionally friendly. It is located 1.3KM from Tanjung Aru Beach and easy to find. It offered dorm and bunk style rooms which is suitable for backpackers. The room was very spacious and charming, and the amenities were great for a hostel. They have a nice indoor common area and offered delicious breakfast.
However, I have a hiccup when checking out from the hostel. The hostel staff informed that I have not yet made the payment. A bit of disappointment on this as Agoda has already charged my Maybank card. I have show the proof of payment from my Maybank account. Nevertheless, the issue resolved as staff will checked with her higher management on this matter and quickly return the deposit.
Overall, it was a good stay and I'd recommend it for travelers looking to save money on accommodation!

We had an awkward overnight layover in KK en route south to Sipadan. They have 24 hour check in so we arrived at 1am to a very pleasant welcome and slept until about 4am when we had to leave for our 6am flight. Certainly beat the airport departure hall floor AND was only 7 mins grab ride from the airport. Will do this again if have silly layovers or want somewhere nice and clean to sleep (if you land late and are off to hike Mount Kinabalu). Sorry we couldnt try the on-site restaurant or make use of the slippers that come upon check in! Great front desk service - very responsive when we were deciding whether it was worth it to leave the airport for just 3 hours - well it was!

We knew, that the Dock Inn will be a modern hostel. Our expectations were reached. It's a modern styled, very clean and safe hostel. We liked a lot of details:

- Provided slippers, so you could leave your own shoes / slippers in a locker and the sleaping and washing area kept clean. In many other hostels the other guests walks around the whole hostel with their dirty shoes and slippers, which is really disgusting.

- Great showers, they had a perfect pressure and hot water, it was so relaxing to take a shower.

- Each bed in the dormitory provided a curtain, plugs, light, a safety locker, hooks, a duvet and a pillow.

- Spacious public area in the cafeteria is huge and very comfy. It was great to hang out and drinking some delicious coffee.

We only stayed one night because our flight was after midnight. The staff let us stay in the common area to chill before we catched a flight. We also could store our luggage in a separate room.
Thank you so much for this two things, we really appreciated it.

Overall, if you don't mind to be outside of the city center with it's shopping malls, restaurants and markets, this hostel is a great place to be! Very recommendable!

This ranks amongst the worse 2 or 3 rooms that I have ever stayed at. What's even worse is that the reception of the hotel refused to solve the issue for my upcoming stay happening in two weeks time. As I Prepaid for the room I am seriously upset.

1) The hotel has huge amounts of mould growing in the bathroom as a result of a lack of a window or a fan to take the humidity away. This is very unhealthy. See the photos.

2) No separation between toilet and shower so your trousers will get wet every time you use the toilet or you have to take them off before you use toilet

3) Extrmely noisy. Private room next to public showers which are being used until past midnight. You hear the water and specifically the hair or hand dryers as the door is left open all the time.

4) You are forced to wear the hotel slippers inside their hotel and the size is too small for westerner feet.

5) Windows inappropriate for airport hotel. You hear planes taking off and landing all the time until past midnight and from about 6am

6) No common sense policies that after day 11pm no talking on hallways, no noisy public showed etc. In another words no respect for the sleep of others.

Worse welcome to Malaysia that a tourist can get. Stay away from this hotel as they don't even want to "try" to fix issues.

Just look at the mould!!!

Only 10 minutes drive from airport approx, it was a great value for my short 4 hours stay between flights in Kota.
I arrived in the middle of the night, the check in has been easy and staff very nice.
I stayed in a 4 beds dorms with bed big enough for me and my partner.

The bedroom and bathroom were clean, but I think the plugs next to my bed didn’t work well/at all , only downsize.

Been here couple of times. Near to the airport, Grab cost RM7-RM8. If you want to pray, there is an open area outside the door on Level 2.
Free simple breakfast. Amenities provided. Wifi is fast.
Walking distance to KFC and mamaks. There is also laundromat near the post office, you can leave your dirty and let them do it for you.

This place is really clean, brand new and comfortable

Stayed at a 4 dorm room with attached bathroom. Bed is rather comfortable and the toilet is very clean. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is basic but that’s what you can expect given the price tag.

Worth considering for those that’s looking for a hostel or backpacker type accommodation at Kota Kinabalu.
