From KK Airport Terminal 2: By taxi will cost you RM40. Purchase a coupon from the taxi service desk. It should take about 30 minutes to get to the hotel (although it took us 20 the rate our driver was speeding!).
On arrival, we were greeted by a friendly doorman/porter (Robi). The lobby is spacious modern and contemporary, with comfortable lounge chairs. Check-in was simple and easy.
The whole modern, contemporary theme extends to the guestrooms too. Good sized room, with double bed, desk, comfortable chair, plasma TV, tea/coffee making facilities (try the local Sabah tea!), and complimentary bottled water on arrival. The toiletries are also very contemporary too- and smell great! The lighting was just right, and there is a safe to keep all your valuables in.
You’ll also find leaflets and brochures about what to do while in KK, like excursions to Mount Kinabalu etc and a much-needed mall directory!
Good Points:
1. Free Internet connection. Forgotten your internet cable? Not a problem, we requested one from the front desk, and it was promptly delivered (within 3 mins!) to our room.
There are WiFi hotspots around the hotel, and guests can use the internet for at the Apple Mac Corner in the lobby (password obtained from front desk).
2. If you're a Muslim traveler, the hotel will provide a prayer mat for you to use during your stay.
3. Attached to the 1Borneo shopping mall, which has a good selection of restaurants: western, local or fast food, whatever takes your fancy. For great delicious breakfast, try Dome or Coffee Bean on ground floor. Recommend Apple Cafe for local fare (located on lower ground floor, south atrium a decent meal will set you back RM5.50!) and the supermarket or Multi-Bake if you have a sweet-tooth! Everything you need is located in the mall: Money changers, pharmacy, banks, laundromat and so on.
4. A Free shuttle service is available to transport you from mall right to city center (Warisan Square near the waterfront) with minimal effort on your part!
Tickets are available from main entrance desk (north atrium) in the mall ,and the bus departs from south atrium.
5. There is also a free shuttle service to take you from the hotel to the airport You’ll need to inform the front desk 24 hours in advance to book your seat. The hotel also offers this free-charge-service to pick you up from the airport and take you to the hotel (but we didn't know that at the time of booking!) .You need to call the hotel beforehand to make arrangements, it’s worth it as you’ll save RM40!
6. There is a large pool and a small pool/hot tub, with plenty of sun loungers.
7. Gym /Fitness center is open 24 hours a day. So really convenient. Free bottled water and wipe-down towels are available for gym users.
8. Free newspaper (Sabah times) delivered to your door every morning.
9. Mall is open from 11-10pm. If you want a midnight snack, Orange, 7-11, and Gloria Jeans coffee are 60 seconds from the hotel entrance.
9. All the staff in this hotel were very friendly, and helpful from Housekeeping to Room Service and always smiling. The Front Desk staff do a great job to accommodate any requests you may have,
Bad points:
The bathroom. Water from the shower leaks onto the step and then onto the floor.
The choice of TV channels was quite limited, the movie channels seemed quite outdated.
Is far from city centre, however you can overlook this by the free shuttle service provided.
The noise transmissions between rooms can be a bit loud if you have adjoining rooms.
Gym is small, but it gets the job done.

Stayed for three nights in August. Check in was slow as there is only one service counter available. I was told that as others has went for their buka puasa (breaking fast), so the delayed. The hotel should have assign more non-muslim staff at the check in counter.
I repeated my request of a non-connecting room, twin bed and not facing the road as i was noise sensitive. Yet they gave me a king size bed and facing the main road. Immediately ask them to re-assign a new room to me, they gave me another room but again they gave me a connecting room. This time I was furious and ask them to check my personal preference during booking and the personal preference in my Accor account. As an Accor member i was disappointed with such a service.
They upgraded the room to the premier floor and sent some fruit to us after I said I am going to complain to Accor. The hotel do not do frequent mainenance as everything is run down.
Breakfast is ok with Mix Malaysia American.
Pool is nice.
Location is convenient to 1Borneo Shoping Mall but far away from city (RM30 to get to city)
I Like the loction though as it is far away from the city.
I have stayed in Novotel Gangnam Korea, Novotel Ploenchit Bangkok and Novotel Kuala Lumpur, I just have to say Novotel One Borneo is not up to standard.
Kindly improve your service and your run down room.
Will I stay there again? I guess not.

Dear BrandonHo, First and foremost we would like to apologise for the condition of our rooms as we are aware that some of the rooms are a little run down due to wear and tear. we are in the midst of fixing up the bits and pieces to freshen up the hotel again. We've also brought up this issue to the attention of the reservations team to be more attentive of guest request, especially an Accor member like you, as this is really not acceptable. I do hope that you might consider staying with us again, especially because you like the location. We can definitely improve with feedback from guests like you.

The first day upon arrival at the hotel was not bad. Not quite close to good first impression though. I didn't even know the hotel changed their management (which lead to the bad part later). The check-in went well and I got to my room, which next to my parents' room, which is just nice (I think). Well, it's only the first day and nothing was special or mind-blowing. Now, the best part. The day my family and I left for Membakut and after the check-out, the staff who was on duty that day promised my mom that she will get 2 rooms ready by the time we return from Membakut. But... There was no booking to be found on the system. My mom asked another staff who was on duty that day (after return from Membakut) to check again and again until she found the booking and still there was none. My mom went completely out rage because of that. We had to unload the bags from the car and then we had to reload the bags back into the car. The staff said to my mom, "Perhaps next time" and my mom said, "There won't be a next time." Then, my mom and I stormed out the hotel, feeling absolutely and completely out rage and disappointed. The service on the first day was quite okay. The thing that good about this hotel is that it's next to the mall, so it's convenient. Just like my mom said, "There won't be a next time."

This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed. The shower water pressure is very, very low and without a door, thus wetting the whole bathroom. The air conditioning is like using a ceiling fan. Wardrobe is without a door for whatever reason I don't know. There's no disposable slippers, face towels and hangers for bath towels.
The breakfast is the same everyday! The fruits displayed is full of tiny flying insects and some food is not fresh. Not recommended to stay.

I stayed with family for 8 nights. Service was poor with no information in room or from front desk eg room service menu had to be asked for, only discovered gym facilities available at end of stay, pool closed for renovations, no information about additional english speaking TV stations even when asked (found out at end of stay that TV can be upgraded at no extra charge even after enquiring why we could only get Chinese soap operas on first day), only discovered free shuttle service to downtown KK 2 days before end, toilet not cleaned on daily basis, dvd player not working, electrical plugs hanging out the wall, wifi only in lobby, parking is on a look after yourself basis with paid parking only as part of the ajoining shopping centre. The hotel itself is falling apart and it is difficult to find a chair or square metre of carpet that is not stained, the linen had ironing burn marks. On the one positive mark the waiting staff in the retaurant at breakfast is very smiley and friendly.

If you are thinking of booking this hotel, juz go ahead and choose another because it is totally disgusting.
I booked 3 nights and the moment i checked in, the smell of the room has put it off. It smells of stale smoke although it is a smoke free room. The bedsheet has a shoe print and some hair and the pillowcases are all dirty (u can see pictures). Amenities provided are extremely basic, i was looking for a pen and paper to jot some things but there were none. Not even facial tissues were provided, u either use ur own, buy it outside or use toilet roll to wipe u face.
I went out in the afternoon and came back to a room that has supposedly been through housekeeping only to find hair on the floor, unreplenish amenities (not even shower gel, soap or shampoo was provided) and even the used towels were taken but no new towels were provided. I called for housekeeping nobody answered n when i finally got reception to pass the message, they came with others things except what i asked for.
Never stay here.

I am currently staying at this hotel, checking in today (04.09.2016).
It is a fairly standard hotel, but I have two complaints, both I would consider major.
The parking lot. The hotel *has* a connection to the place where it let guests park their cars, but that door is locked and unmanned most of the time. If you have a car, you should avoid staying at this hotel. When you park or need to get to your car, you have to go the ground floor lobby, exit the hotel entrance, enter the mall next door, go up the floor where you parked your car. Not exactly clever nor friendly.
My room air conditioning. I left the room for one hour, and it is still not cold enough. The room faces the sunset so that probably put a strain to the airconditioning but this is a centralized airconditioning system and set to 16 degC.
Other complaint:
1. The hotel messed up the reservation so it was listed that the room was under "pax account" (ie I need to pay up first) even though the room was paid/confirmed by my client
2. After that was cleared up since my client spoke to them (via phone) directly, the hotel still insist that I pay 100 ringgit deposit. I said what for? "Oh just in case you order room service". I said no. I'm not going to pay for that.
3. Then the parking season pass. They insisted that the deposit of 65 ringgit be given in exchange for the season pass. Earlier they said just "picked up the season pass from the receptionist", they didn't mention at all about the deposit.
Whether it is 65 ringgit or 100 ringgit or 1,000 ringgit, hotels need to inform their guests about everything and not hit the customers when they are captive. That's not nice and is unethical.
I'm still bitter about the silly route from the hotel to the parking lot. Maybe the hotel management can look into this.

Hi,
I am dropping a mail to share my unpleasant stay at your hotel on 16th October 2014 (Thursday).
I checked in hotel at 9.30pm. They front desk assigned me to room 0925. The moment i entered the room, the toilet light was having issue. Only 1 light is functioning. Then i disvover also there were no toiletries in the toilet as well. I walk out from toilet and look out for slippers but very sad there was none.
I was so tire after my whole day work, which i thought i can immediately take a shower and rest in a so-call 4 stars hotel. It was totally a blow that the 1st impression given to me was it is just worst than those 2 or 3 stars hotel which we can easily find along the main road in KK town. At least those hotel ensure all things are ready for guest in the room the moment the guest check in.
I made a call to front desk amd request to change my room. They then changed my room to 1019. This room is slightly better at least all lightings are working well. But there were toiletries and slippers as well. I called to front desk amd told them i am really very disappointed. All they could tell me is just "I am sorry. We will send the things up to your room now."
After i had my shower and resting, at approximately 1am, I went to the toilet and of coyrse after toiley I washed my hands. To my surprise after i washed my hands, the hand towel was so extremely dirty. Thus was really making me mad. I made another call to the front desk to complain. And as usual, the generic apology was shared.
I have attached some photos for your reference. I have going to KK for business trip 2 months once. I always stay in the city. However, i thought i should i give try to 1borneo Novotel, but after my stay there on 16th October 2014, I guess I should reconsider again on this hotel in future.
Yoy all are really don't belongs to a 4 stars horel as rated.
Total disappointment.

We stayed in a club room and were thrilled with the amenities. At first I was disappointed how far we were from city but after staying here I was very happy with the value. With the Hyper mall so close it was very convenient for shopping and food and with 2 teenagers this was great. We caught the complimentary shuttle from the complex to the city often but for our dive trips we had to be at the jetty before 9 and the shuttle starts at 10am. A cab fare was 20- 30 Ringgit often depending on the time or wetness of the passengers. This hotel had great breakfasts, great pool bar,Club benefits included complimentary non alcoholic drink and nibbles between 5-7, Staff were friendly and helpful and stored my luggage for 3 days while we were on a side trip.
