Resting on their laurels and reputation. Credit card machine crashed when checking in so not given a receipt for my credit card payment and no one around when checking out so had to phone, at some expense, to be told to leave the key in my room. No Wifi in hotel/restaurant throughout my stay and restaurant unable to provide grilled [only fried] fish—come on, this is a Fishing Club [allegedly]!!!!

We spent two nights in the guesthouse and were very disappointed by the lack of customer experience service and of cleanliness. When we arrived, the bedroom was still wet, we assumed that it was the recent cleaning but realized that this was due to the humidity of the place itself, that was also smelling quite bad. On the first night, we got at least 5 electricity cuts, and three on the second. The wifi was not really working in the bedrooms except from one time to another so we needed to go to the reception to use it... however the reception is the entry of the restaurant so the staff was not nice with us thinking that we were just using the wifi like this. Last but not least, nobody was there for the checkout at 8.45 am so we couldn’t give the key to anyone, ask for help to leave the place etc. The door was locked and we had to stay outside looking for some wifi to ask for a drive...

Setting is lovely and accommodations clean. Staff not completely responsive to problems, i.e. wifi. All in all, we enjoyed our time but didn't exactly feel it justified the expense. The UNESCO protected ruins nearby were quite interesting.

First of all, this booking was not cheap. The rooms are small and cave like - very cold and moist. One room had fungus on the walls which is considered a health hazard. Wall socket broken so direct access to 220v cabling. The rooms (2+3) has a nice patio but no view of the harbour even if the location is very close. Almost no contact with the restaurant staff, as different crews have no idea that you are actually a guest of theirs. I would only rate this room good for the location, the facilities and standard of rooms I'd below what can be expected at this price point.

My friend and I stayed for 3 nights in October 2018. There was lots of little nice touches in the room such as clean towels and slippers available, good wifi and a water cooler (also we were very happy when one of the incredibly helpful staff refilled the cooler for us at 12.30 at night...We got through a lot of water in those temperatures!). The location is ideal and the streets around the guesthouse are very pretty and clean and picturesque. Great walking distance to everywhere we wanted to go in Byblos. I felt very welcome here by all the staff and will definitely recommend my friends and family to stay there if they ever visit Byblos.

Loved the place. Super clean, comfortable, friendly staff, and it was right On the harbor between the sea and the bazaar. The room had a purified water cooler with cold water and a nice outdoor sitting area. It was quiet at night. They also provided shampoo AND conditioner. This is no small thing for someone with long hair. 😊

I booked this through booking.com and it looked like a beautiful place. When we arrived at the restaurant we had a warm welcome and sat down for a beer before going to the room. We literally put our bags on the bed and left to explore. We didn’t actually come back until two in the morning and then we discovered how badly Room 4 needs to be renovated: Wobbly sink in the bathroom Shower held in place by one rusty screw Air-conditioner control held together by sellotape Dirt on all horizontal surfaces such as paintings. You could run your fingers along it and they came up covered in dust. The floor was filthy - I had a shower and my feet were black by the time I went to bed. The outside ‘terrace’ which is just a room divided into three areas only had one seat for six people. To be frank, we both agreed too that the bed linen didn’t seem clean and my friend was reluctant to sleep in it. We spoke to the manager when we checked out. He claimed it was the first time anyone had ever claimed that the rooms were dirty - that’s not the case if you read the reviews. Also, it was our responsibility to check somewhere is clean when we check in - that should be the management.I told him it needed a deep clean and even offered to show him where things were dirty. He said that he would get his cleaning ladies to look into it but they are the problem since they’re obviously not doing their job. You pay $88 to stay there. I think for what you get the price shouldn’t even be half that. Yes, the location is great but quaint should also mean clean. The only good thing is that I was so tired after eating until two in the morning I managed to sleep.
