ちょうど桜の季節だったので、すぐ脇の桜並木が本当にきれいでした。お食事も、サザエのつぼ焼きやしゃぶしゃぶ食べ放題で良かったです。写真が良すぎて期待値高すぎました。
Wonderful location, near the station, the sea and traditional buildings. Excellent sakura walk nearby. The food is good if you like traditional Japanese. But the photo of the hotel was too good and our expectation was bit higher than it really was. The room was old, scenery was ok. Young staffs were really good but old gentlemen at the front desk were like taxi drivers...

First of all, I don't understand why there are so many Japanese reviews for this hotel in this English website. They have the Japanese website for booking and writing reviews. Perhaps it is because the Tripadvisor is so popular that the people wanted to write here rather than the Japanese website.

Back to comments, I stayed two nights in October purely for an onsen and sightseeing nearby Ito and Izu Kogen. I have travelled to many places in Japan and surban Tokyo before that I have forgotten that I have actually visited Ito area. But I have never stayed overnight and so that is not a big problem to me.

This hotel is about 8-10 mins away from the train station. But they have shuttle to the hotel if you have reserved in your booking. The outlook and room is very old, carpet is worn. Bathroom very small. Onsen is OK with a large inside onsen and a small outside one. Facilities are very clean as many Japanese hotels.

I chose this hotel because of the price - about HK$800 for a room including breakfast for a weekday and about HK$950 for a weekend day.

Like many Japanese onsen hotels, the polcy of time of check-in is very strict. If it is stated 3pm, then no earlier can you check in, but of course you can use their onsen if it is open already.

One point to note - there is a Chinese but named Japanese massage area outside the onsen. The only woman to do the massage is in fact a Chinese woman but she can speak fluent Japanese so you won't notice unless you can speak some Chinese. Her massage technique is very bad, unprofessional, no skills at all. The towels she used I think have never been washed or sterilized as I have some bugs bite after the massage. I have found it is very common to have such Chinese women to do the massage in areas in Atami and Ito. But they are very unskillful and so be aware!

During my current trip, I found this hotel might be a little bit peculiar. As most of you might aware, it becomes a standard practice in Japan that the check in time is after 3pm and the check out time is before 11am. They're very strict and rigid about this policy, so don't even try to adjudicate this matter since it'll only worsen the situation. Thats what not actually happened to this hotel, they don't allow people checking in before 3pm and on the other hand, they request all of the guest leaving the premises before 10am! Guess what is the breakfast time? Nope. Its 7-9am.

Anyhow, the hotel is old but clean. My room was a large tatami style with futon. Safety deposit box was provided, automatic refrigerator intact so once you took out the drink it will be automatically added to your bill. There is a toilet with automatic wash-let as well as a bath tub and onsen style shower on each room.

In order to use the onsen, you must bring your own small towel together with big towel. Small towel will be used to scrub your body. Make sure you clean up your body and take a proper shower before you enter the onsen. The onsen is standard with standard hot water temperature (usually 40'C?). However the rotenburo (open air bath) outside the onsen is not really good since the temperature is uncannily warm and not hot.

I joined the buffet dinner menu for an additional ¥3100. The variety of foods are good, mini size sushi, mini size tempura, sashimi, teppanyaki (the meat is so hard and difficult to chew), plenty of rices (fried rice, steam rice, mushroom rice, kare rice etc), nice fresh seafood grill (prawn, clam, scallop etc), Chinese (dumplings, sweet & sour pork, broccoli pork, beef tendon tofu etc), desert corner (bite size tart, bite size cake, crepe, pudding, ice cream, soft ice cream, chocolate fountain etc). Standard drink is provided (ice water, coffee, ocha) additional cost for coke and juices. And please don't order beer since it costs ¥600-¥700 a glass.

Travelling tip:
1. If you need to buy anything you can buy it at nearby 7 Eleven or HAC Drugstore. Actually you can buy different kind of drink, beer or even wine and hard liquor there. HAC Drugstore worth to pay a visit, it was really huge place and fun to see different kind of medicine, food, drink, vitamin, hair product etc etc. Btw, the location of both above-mentioned are just on the right hand side of the hotel. Less than 1 min walking distance.

2. There is a karaoke room inside the hotel premises, but if you want a cheaper version, just go to the opposite hotel across the street. They've karaoke box, billiard etc.

3. For meat lover, please go to Misono Tonkatsu near the Ito Station. Its worth to try. I'll have another separate review for Misono Tonkatsu.

For a great price, we got a room for two including breakfast and dinner buffet and onsen spring. It was along the train line to kawazara so you can simply buy the ito two day pass to go there at a great price without the need to break the bank by living close the reason it guess quote expensive when you are close to the sakura sites.

We could experience there the hot spring Japanese bath, everything was clean and very convenient. The food was good and the staff was friendly. I enjoyed the experience of sleeping in the traditional Japanese beds, rooms were spacious and I would recommend this hotel to friends and family.

Nice traditional Japanese style place. The floor of the room was beautifully covered in tatami mats. Has a nice breakfast and dinner buffet. Located near the river where they celebrated the lantern festival. A few minutes walk from Orange beach and Nagisa Park. Had the change to see the fireworks display and the Taiko festival. Nice onsen for couples. The staff is very friendly and respectful. Also the karaoke room was awesome.

I applied for a tour including transportation on the Izu Odoriko. It was very cost-effective. It was cheap, so the room was in an old building, but it was cleaned well and there was a Japanese-style room as an auxiliary room, so it felt spacious.

The food was also better than expected, with three types of hotpots for individual use.

It was the off-season in January, so the accommodation fee was probably low, but my 75-year-old friend was satisfied.

Luxury accommodation is fine for the elderly, but going on cost-effective trips multiple times to kill time is also a good way to do it. I would like to go on a trip every month this year.

I had to take care of something nearby, so I made a reservation two days before. It was only 11,500 yen, so I had no expectations.

The buffet-style meals include grilling your own turban shells and scallops, and the beef steaks are tender and delicious. There are so many varieties of desserts, ice cream, soft serve ice cream, and fruit that you can't eat them all. It's great for women.

The baths are available except at 2-3am, so it's great for people who have special circumstances.

The room was cleaned as usual, so I didn't have any unpleasant experiences.

The elderly, kind staff are reliable.

Don't forget to take your yukata and toothbrush from the front desk when you check in.

The rooms are too dirty. Dust heaven.

Why can't they do simple cleaning?

Even if I write a review on Google, it gets deleted right away.

Kawaryo used to be one of the most popular hotels in Ito, but now it's a shadow of its former self.

We stayed here for three days and two nights from New Year's Eve, but the buffet food was exactly the same on both days. This was the first time we've had the exact same menu on both days, and even though it's the COVID-19 pandemic, I think they were too unmotivated. And even if the facilities are old, I don't think they need to be maintained and cleaned. The lockers in the pool changing rooms were still in bad shape, and the toilets in the rooms smelled bad... It seems they haven't renovated since my husband came here when he was in elementary school. It was close to the station, so the location was good.
