To start with the very good. The room, a suite with around 55 m², was very nice. Especially if you consider to get this with the current subsidy from the government for around 220 USD including breakfast. But also for the regular price I consider this a fair deal.

If you go here with the family, be careful. The TV installed in the shower room also features Japanese adult videos. I tried to change from CNN to a Japanese TV channel with the channel up/down button and ended up there.

Even though you always get a smile, the service is on the lower end. Work according to the manual, no flexibility. This in all areas. One small example: Ordered an ice cream which is promoted on the TV screen at the entrance of the restaurant around 6 PM. But this was refused because they only serve this until 5 PM. The restaurant was empty though.

Summarizing I can say it is very recommendable if you stay in the room. Don’t expect any service outside your room except in the executive lounge where they tried hard and were very good.

i stayed for one night in matsumoto while walking the nakasendo trail for a week. i had booked the buena vista hotel for the great price and was shocked by how nice it was when i arrived. despite me being extremely casually dressed since i was just hiking the trail for a few days, the staff treated me so nicely even though i looked NOTHING like their typical businessperson clientele. great location near the train station and tons of restaurants, cafes, convenience stores, etc. room was well-designed with nice seating/table area for working and i love these japanese rooms with lighting control in the headrest of the beds!

We stayed at the Buena Vista Hotel in Matsumoto as part of a tour group. Our twin room on the 8th floor was a good size and spotlessly clean. We had a comfortable chair and a couch as well as comfortable beds. There was a kettle and tea bags and instant coffee. The buffet breakfast was good but people who came later had to wait for a table and the staff let locals in before those waiting in the queue.

This hotel was booked as part of tour of Japan and we were there for only 1 night. As a solo traveller I was allocated a single room which was very small. It did however have a large bed which based on the space available was probably too big for the room. In order to get my case open to just get a small number of items I needed for one night I had to rearrange the chair and table so I could get the case open. The “closet” if you can call it that, was so small it only had 3 hangers and was probably only about 18inches wide right next to the door. I wouldn’t want to stay in this room more than one night. On the basis you pay a single supplement I find it poor that we solo travellers are given such small and inadequate rooms. In addition, as a tour from the UK, hardly anyone spoke English so it was hard to get the staff to understand when something went wrong, like my kettle which wasn’t working. In credit to the Reception staff, once I finally managed to get him to understand the problem he resolved it very quickly. Finally when we went to breakfast at 7.45am they were already full and we had to wait about 10 mins or so, then a number of the breakfast items had run out. There were 2 coach tours in and they didn’t seem to be able to cope or cater for the amount of people there.
I did find the staff very friendly and helpful, so it certainly isn’t their fault. I wouldn’t recommend it for solo travellers.

The hotel is perfectly acceptable as a business hotel, but upon check-in, the receptionist was very unprofessional and sought to extract extra revenue by advising us that the room we had booked was near the elevator, and was also very small, and also not ready. However, if we were to pay extra, all of these things could be resolved.
To be fair, in the end, the manager resolved the problem with only a small extra charge, but it left a bad taste.
Breakfast was very poor, by the way

This was a stopover hotel for our tour of Japan. It's well-located, walking distance to the railway station. The hotel carpark is small and we ended up in a garage about a 7-minute walk away. (10-minute if you have luggage.)

We ended up in the executive floor. The rooms were all right in size. The major plus is the 14th floor executive lounge. We were there on New Year Day but ALL the restaurants that looked decent said they would only allow us in with reservations. We had not expected that. Fortunately, we had a good fill at the lounge, went to MacDonald's (across the road from the Railway Station) for a burger and then returned to the Lounge to top up with drinks.

Although it was near the closing time for the lounge, still the staff topped up the food.

Breakfast was pretty good. But the dining area is somewhat small. So we had to wait 10 minutes. They do have a picnic arrangement, which was pretty charming.

Staff were friendly, things worked. Yes, I would recommend this.

The rooms are big, clean and comfortable. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful in fixing a reservation glitch. There is a free shuttle to the train station. The location is extremely central, but we walked to all the sites from here and found it convenient. Will definitely recommend for families with kids.

Location is convenient - it is near the Matsumoto Train station and Bus Terminal. Rooms are adequate - typical Japanese Hotel standards.

We came in Autumn. And the room was very warm even though we set the temperature at 19 degrees (heater is not on). So we called the front desk and told them the issue. They said to turn off the air conditioner and open the window. Totally unexpected. Is it a manpower shortage issue? Expected them to at least send someone to check for such a hotel.

I had a very enjoyable stay at this property, the room size was good. The room had all the usual amenities that you come to expect in Japan.
The WiFi was good as was the strong powerful shower.
The hotel was central enough with about a twenty minute walk from the station and a 30-minute walk from the castle.

Breakfast was not extensive but it was satisfactory. The queuing for breakfast is caused by tour groups leaving early.
If you plan on eating out I would advise you to book in advance as most of the restaurants were very bust.

A bit corporate in look and feel. My room was compact, and felt very much like student accommodation. Everything there, but very little space. Bathroom cramped. Dining Room OK. Good breakfast buffet, but not much selection on fresh fruit. Good Japanese selection.

喫煙ルームについてですね。 私の記憶だと、布団等は臭いませんでしたよ。 部屋に入った瞬間と、カーテンはタバコの臭いが気になりました。ファブリーズで消臭してからは、さほど気にならなくなりましたが。
