This is simply one of the best hostel I've ever been. You really feel there like at home (in fact, hostel itself is ex-flat), there are complimentary tea, coffee and cookies available on the kitchen. It is also located in very quiet area so nothing will disturb you at night. Needless to say, the staff is great and friendly and alway happy to discuss your latest trip with you.I arrived at Donetsk almost at midnight and they let me check it at 1 AM. If you are looking for best a hostel in Donetsk, this one is definitely the option.

My very first impression of this hostel was that of a babushka who answered the door after the 2nd ring and only stared at me, never saying 'boo' during the 24 hours I was there. The place is very clean, but beware that there must be cats quite often in the apartment (she lives across the hall) as I was sneezing constantly and it couldn't have been from dust. There's a regular outfitted kitchen, Ukranian bathrooms, computer and tv. There is no wi-fi! And if you close out the internet window on the provided computer, good luck finding an icon or anything which can get the internet open again. There are a few city maps around the apt. which is great, however, there is NO ONE to speak with about anything unless either, 1. You speak Russian and can get the old woman to be cordial, 2. You happen to bump into the younger woman who cleans the place - she's friendly and speaks English well enough, but seems hesitant to at first. I was really lost as to how anyone could rent out rooms/beds without being there to provide assistance. Welcome to Ukraine's version of hosteling. Personally, I don't think this hostel was worth their asking price due to lack of wi-fi and lack of smiling, helping faces. Important: Note that the directions on the hostel's website for arriving there from the train station are NOT correct. Take bus #2 (the only long bus) from the station to Artema/Myru Street. Cost is 2UAH. The walk to the hostel from there is only about 10 minutes and located AFTER the supermarket. (If you need a larger supermarket, there's one on the other side of Artema, maybe 100 meters down.)

Really nice and clean place with friendly hosts who treated me with tea and coffee. I would highly recommend this hostel to anyone travelling on a budget. If I am in Donetsk again, I would stay in Red Cat.
