Dar Jamila in Mahdia is a collector's dream. The owner Brahim, who lives on an upper floor and helps his sister make breakfast, has meticulously restored an old traditional house and filled it with antiques, oddities, traditional furniture, and surprising objects of all kinds. The rooms are spread around the house and all feature charming, individual interiors together with modern amenities, like international TV stations, fast Wifi and a great shower. Breakfast is an experience like none other. The dining room table on the ground floor is spread with an array of local, French and northern European goodies, juices, sweets, fruit, cheese and meats. You can also order an omelet or other egg dish. It's actually far too much to finish, but Brahim wants to offer his guests plenty of new things to try. At night, the rhythmic sound of the waves will help you fall asleep right away. Dar Jamila is not cheap, but it's well worth the price. Don't forget to take plenty of photos!…

Why stay in a generic hotel in the tourist zone when you can stay in this beautiful, comfortable bed and breakfast alongside the sea in the medina ? It’s the best of both worlds, an authentic local home that is walking distance to local historic sites, shops and restaurants, and also a luxurious, comfortable space to relax on your private balcony overlooking the sea. Fabulous breakfast and super attentive host, to boot. Highly recommended.

Lovely Dar with friendly and helpful hosts. Highly recommend a stay here ... not cheap but well worth the splurge ... location fantastic ... swim in the sea out front ... wander through the medina out back. The owner could not be more helpful and dropped us back to the louage station at the end of our stay - thank you!

We stayed 2 nights at Dar Jamila, It was wonderful! The king bed had orthopedic comfortable mattress. The room had a spacious balcony overlooking the beautiful sea. The room furniture and fixtures were traditionally decorated. Mr. Brahim, the owner, is very generous, he provided amazing service. We will definitely come back.

it was a nice surprise to find this peaceful place, in the heart of the Medina of Mahdia. i felt like an emperor in his royal suite , but my surprise was bigger when i opened the balcony and saw the astonishing view of the sea that was about 15 meters from my room. with a nice included breakfast and a smile that never leave the faces of the owner and his wife, i felt so comfortable. i am sure that Dar Jamila will be my holidays destination, who does not like to be treated as a king lol, thank you Mrahim and Martine.
