Good location with nice pool just in front of the room. Buffet at the Bubbles was excellent esp the fresh oyster and sashimi. Very yummy. So were the Grilled seafood. The lounge is small modest looking but comfortable. Snacks were decent. Nice service from the staff esp a lady name Nut.

Hotel's Favourite
Visited this hotel in Feb/March 2023 with my husband, son (19) and daughter (13). We stayed in family connecting rooms and were here for 16 nights. Firstly the hotel is beautiful, looks very grand and defo worth its 5*. Our rooms were clean, spacious and had everything we could need. Our room overlooked the pool and was on the first floor. The beds/pillows were very comfortable and the air conditioning was perfect. The housekeeping staff were brilliant and always had our room spotless with fresh bedding and towels. We had more than enough space to put our clothes away. The hotel was in an ideal spot, close to the beach and restaurants, with Bangla Rd about 10-15 min walk away. Pool was fantastic with plenty of sun loungers, never had an issue getting one. It was quite shaded though so if you are a sun worshipper you might need to move your bed about, coming from Scotland we like it as we dont see very much of it. We had breakfast included, staff always found us a table so no queuing like some European hotels. The food was very nice and we always had a lovely breakfast, even my picky eater son. The kitchen closed at 10am but they didn't rush you out, just stopped making food at the live stations. On check out day we used the spa for showers and kept our going home clothes in the lockers in changing rooms. Always rate hotels on whether I would return or recommend them. On this occasion we would defo do both. We loved our time at the Grand Mercure, this is due to the wonderful staff (everyone), the food, cleanliness and location. Thank you for a wonderful family holiday.

We recently spent 3 nights in the Grand Mecure in Patong. The location is within walking distance of restaurants as well as Patong’s famous Bangla Road party scene. We opted to stayed in a swim up room, and upon first entering were disappointed with the size. It’s very small, and hasn’t got much space for luggage. We also found the room to be very dark, with limited amounts of natural light coming in. The pool was a perfect temperature for cooling off and was very clean. We didn’t eat in the main restaurant at the hotel, however did order a pizza from the pool bar at lunchtime. Which was reasonably priced and good quality. Taxi to the airport cost around £18.00, and took 60 minutes. We used the Grab App to book this. Overall a nice stay, however wouldn’t want to be staying at this hotel for a long period due to room size.

There are many good qualities about this hotel, however, not all good I’m afraid. Rooms On the smaller side (which is okay) but have obvious signed of wear and tear (rust spots on mirrors/rust around toilet roll holder/paint flaking). If you are sharing with a child (we have a teenage son) I would probably suggest upgrading to bigger room as there was little storage for clothes (we used the small coach for all his clothes and my husband used a stool for his). Juliette balconies, rather than a balcony you can sit on (unless you have a swim up room). There maybe other rooms with balconies, but not from what you can see around the pool. General toiletries, tea/coffee/water available in the rooms. Mini bar which is chargeable. Aircon was okay, but you couldn’t seem to get it lower than 22degrees. But from being in the outside heat to coming inside, was a welcome relief. We stayed in superior king which I believe all these rooms have a pool view. Hotel surroundings Lobby is lovely and modern. Pool area okay (quite long and narrow rather than a big wide pool) with small swim up bar. Again, signs of wear and tear. There always appeared to be enough sun beds although these could certainly do with new mattresses! The towels were very tired too, and really need replacing. Because the pool is in the middle of the hotel it is surrounded by all the rooms so if you are a sun worshipper, you may need to move sunbeds throughout the day so you are not in the shade. The restaurant is next to the pool and serves a fabulous breakfast. You will certainly find something to eat. The menu is varied enough to suit most tastes I would think and not too badly priced. Staff Some good, some not so good. The staff in the restaurant were lovely, and really welcoming at breakfast time. One pool guy was lovely, another appeared rather annoyed most of the time and it appeared a chore to be there. Some receptionists were okay, but again, some rather blunt and at times (and I didn’t need to go to the reception anymore than 4 times) I felt I was an annoyance rather than a paying guest. Not sure whether my expectations were very high after recently being to Bali (where the people are the most welcoming people I have ever met) or whether, as someone else said, “don’t think people in Patong represent other areas in Thailand, as most other areas are more welcoming”. Location The location is great - about a 10/15min walk to the beach. Everything is within walking distance; Bangla Road - if you dare!!!! - is about 10min walk. There are an abundance of restaurants/massage places/shops right outside. The hotel itself was really quiet - we did not hear the hustle and bustle of the streets from our room at all. Patong is not for us (too busy, too seedy) but sure it suits many as it is very popular! If you are British, think Blackpool on an extremely high dose of steroids and you would still be nowhere near! Overall rating (only my opinion!!!) Is the hotel 5*? No, not compared to other hotels I have stayed in. Would say lower 4*. Is it an okay hotel? Yes, although staff friendliness could definitely improve my overall opinion. Was it value for money? Yes, although food/drink could be slightly cheaper. Would we come again? Not that we would come back to Patong, but if we did, we would probably look at alternative hotels.

We have been to many 5 star hotels prior but this one tops it for us ! It was the little things ! The service, the extra step staff would take each time to ensure we were satisfied, we truly felt like we were receiving special treatment. The cleanliness of the place was impeccable! Everything was truly 10/10 and we will definitely be coming back no questions asked! Special mention to Ten for the care and support he provided during a little accident we had at the start of our stay! Truly knew how to handle the situation with the most professional, empathetic and supportive manner ! Thank you Grand Mercure, it's been a blast !

Very good hotel in a great location for getting out & about in bustling Patong . Rooms are modern & spacious & cleaned daily , the hotel staff are very friendly & can't do enough to make you feel welcome. The pool area is clean & relaxing & we never had a problem reserving a sun lounger . Breakfast choices are wide & varied & the restaurant staff are very helpful . It's a pity the dinner menu isn't a bit less pricey as the restaurant is lovely & I'm sure it would be full every evening if it was a bit more competitively priced . The hotel is very close to bars , restaurants & shops & a 15 minute walk to the beach .
