Le Méridien Chiang Rai Resort occupies an idyllic 26-rai site directly on the banks of the Kok River, moments from Chiang Rai town and a one hour drive from the Golden Triangle where the borders of Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar converge. The resort is set at the heart of beautiful landscaped gardens complete with a tranquil man-made lake and two majestic 100-year-old rain trees. Nearby attractions include Rai Mae Fah Luang, Le Méridien's chosen UnLock Art site, and Oub Kham Museum which houses a collection of objects from the ancient Lanna kingdom, Myanmar, southwest China, and Vietnam. Boat trips along the Kong River are available from the town of Chiang Khong, with stops along the way at villages of interest. Ethnic groups living in the province include Karen, Lisu, Lahu, Akha, Meo, and Yao, and it is possible to arrange treks into the hill tribe villages with experienced local guides.

Le Méridien Chiang Rai Resort was built in 2007. There is a man-made river in the property along with two huge rain trees that are over a century old.

We arrived at around 10 in the morning and was told that an early check-in was not possible and we had to wait till 3 in the afternoon for a room to be available. As a Platinum member, we were upgraded to the Grande Deluxe Pool View room on the highest floor. There is only one suite in this property but the standard rooms are larger (53 sq m, 570 sq ft) than typical rooms in other hotels/resorts.

Breakfast at Latest Recipe was superb. The buffet spread is not huge but of high quality. I met the Executive Chef, William Ong, at breakfast every day. He is always seen chatting with guests, offering suggestions on how to spend their time in Chiang Rai. It was our first time there and William even suggested where we could go in rainy weather. Outstanding employees like him always make my stays more memorable. I enjoyed the signature eye-opener drinks and dishes too!

There is no Executive Lounge in this property. However, guests are invited to enjoy complimentary snacks and coffee/tea in the afternoon.

There is a shuttle bus going to the Night Bazaar area, Central Plaza (mall) and Wat Rong Seur Ten (Blue Temple) every two hours. I recommend going to Wat Rong Seur Ten later in the afternoon to avoid large tourist groups. You should also visit Wat Rong Khun (White Temple) as late as possible to get photos without the crowd.

Conclusion
I enjoyed my stay at Le Méridien Chiang Rai Resort but still wished that there was an Executive Lounge. You will find a lot of small lizards on the walls and ceiling of the corridors to your room at night. This is pretty common for properties with a lot of greenery. I was not bothered by them but it is worth noting if you are Herpetophobic. There are no good dining options around the vicinity of the property and I could not find any food delivery services that I could sign up for with a foreign phone number. You can either dine in the restaurants located within the property (Favola and Latest Recipe) or get a Grab Car or taxi downtown. The shuttle service was useful for me and the frequency was good. I am not sure if I will visit Chiang Rai again (maybe as a stopover to the Golden Triangle) but if I do, I would definitely return to this property.

We checked out of our agent-booked hotel b/c it was noisy and sadly a bit sub-par for our taste and went over to Le Meridien asking to see a room to maybe stay there instead. The staff was so nice to assist us & we immediately changed hotels. The rooms there are modern, the bed very comfy, it had a giant flatscreen TV, good bathroom & bath products (always a sign of whether a hotel is good or not imho) and the property is large but very well maintained. They also gave us a free room upgrade which was icing on the cake esp. after the disappointment of the hotel we left (which was listed at a higher cost—why is very unclear b/c Le Meridien is in much better shape overall and has tons of amenities). This hotel is a solid, affordable, friendly, and very good quality option in Chang Rai. Thanks Le Meridien!

After a week staying in basic hotel rooms, it was a delight to stay in the oasis that is Le Meridien Chiang Rai. The rooms are large and clean, well appointed with a terrific balcony and the grounds are also a pleasure to roam, As one would expect, all the staff are attentive and eager to please. Coffee was good but we did not eat in the hotel. The hotel is not cheap but is certainly far better value at about 3,250 Bt/night paid in advance for a Deluxe Garden View Room than many of the rip-offs in Chiang Mai. The only downside for some visitors is the fact that the hotel is located away from town. Of course, not a problem if you have your own transport or just want to hang out and relax in a large resort.

The reception area personnel were not as warm compared to their colleagues from Le Meridien Chiang Mai. We were not offered any welcome drinks when we checked in. It did look like they were short-staffed, but we were the only people checking in. When we mentioned this to sales rep, she did offer us drinks, but the novelty has worn off. There were some staff who were great, Khun Tong at the Tavola restaurant, Khun Bell and the other staff at the breakfast restaurant were great too. Thank you.
The ground floor level room that was initially assigned to us had mildew smell. They sent a gentleman with a can of deodorizer, but I quickly pointed out that it will only mask the smell. He did conclude that the smell is still more pervasive than initially thought; they then moved us to a much cleaner-smelling room on the third floor. They brought in a air filter for good measure

We stayed there for two out of four nights for our Chiang Rai trip in December and found this hotel to be very nice with spacious and spotlessly clean room, large ground with big trees, wonderful service and wide spread of local and international choices of breakfast buffet. With some more garden decoration, the hotel could have been more charming.

I would stay here again if I go to Chiang Rai again.

The hotel is located perfectly located in the city on the banks of Mae Kok River but close to most of the attractions of the city including the blue temple. The Hotel is well spread out and gives you a complete resort experience!
The spa is awesome and you must try an experience while you stay at the property, try the Aroma therapy which comes with a wide choice of oils for the sensory experience you wanted.
We tried two of the Restaurants, Latest recipe, all day dining had a sumptuous breakfast offering and Favola offered some amazing Italian options with some pretty good wine options for pairing. In Favola you can opt for an outdoor sitting by the river bank to enjoy your food and an amazing view.
The rooms are really spacious, well equipped and have a cozy balcony attached, given a choice opt for the river facing rooms.

All up the property is undoubtedly one of the best options while staying at Chiang Rai.

This was my first stay at Le Meridian after many years of visiting Chiang Rai. Now married with small child and wanted to try their pool. Management offered a room upgrade for an extra 400 baht, I really liked the room type and space we got. Staff were helpful and attentive. Pool is phenomenal. I really enjoyed my stay and want to visit again. Thank You!

A very pleasant riverside resort located about 3.5 kilometers from the town centre, the Clock Tower and the Night Market. We stayed in a river view room which was spacious, well equipped, and spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfortable indeed. The breakfast buffet was very extensive, and the food of a high standard. All the staff we dealt with were extremely pleasant and helpful.
We had four disappointments during our stay. First, F&B outlets are not yet fully re-opened. The coffee shop is open for breakfast, but closed for the remainder of the day. There is a good Italian restaurant which opens at lunchtime and in the evenings, but the menu is rather limited. Second, prices of alcoholic beverages are high, even by regional resort standards. An entry level bottle of wine is about THB1700 (USD52), and two large Scotches would be about the same. Two local beers about THB190 (USD6). Third, the bathroom area is separated from the main part of the room by sliding windows. This means that if one occupant of the room visits the bathroom at night and puts the lights on do do so, the other occupant is inevitably woken. This type of layout is becoming increasingly common, and while we can live with it, we find it irritating. Finally, given the location of the hotel, a shuttle bus service into town would be a very useful facility.
Having said all that, we enjoyed our stay, and would probably return on any future visits to Chiang Rai.

Very nice hotel which could be truly 5 star if only the service was better . The location is good, right by river, large plot makes it peaceful and very green with nice rain trees. Rooms are very nice and offer amazing value for money. Very good breakfast. Dinner in Italian restaurant : very slow service ;food and wine is overpriced. Very difficult to get a massage in the spa as hotel seems to lack therapists, which is unusual for Thailand.

In regard to the price, we will look into it however we have done the price comparison though the market before we made our menu and we believe that our price is very competitive in similar category restaurant in town. We hope to see you back soon in order to show you that Favola restaurant is the best Italian restaurants in town – new menu will launching very soon, please revisit to see our improvement. Having stayed at this hotel before, we were looking forward to staying there again this Summer.
Le Meridien Ching Rai published a special deal which clearly stated that the room could be booked by 30th June with stays valid from 15th June to 31st October. In fact, the deal is still up in their Facebook page and there's is no small print such as 'limited availability' or 'rates from'.
When we called to book, we were told that since the hotel was getting busy they had decided to push prices up, and the rate had increased by 30%., even though the were still advertising the old offer. We requested to speak to the manager who still refused to respect the offer published on their website by saying that since they're 70% booked, they had decided to increase the price.
Being a Bonvoy member, I am really disappointed to see that service and management is slipping in a lame attempt to make up for the COVID period; long term damage to the reputation of all the Bonvoy hotels is certainly more important that main a few hundred Baht extra.

Greetings again HZG2. All our rooms are large - start at 53 Sq. M. Bigger than suites in most places. And the beds are double beds. Given the age of your children as you mention you could all get accommodated in one room should you desire. We do not have family rooms per say. We do follow Marriott BonVoy standards of Elite Status Recognition. Best Regards - Murali.
