We stayed two nights at Malkia Trees Lodge prior to our day hike and safari. The level of service was
unmatched and very personal. We were welcomed by Nixon as soon as we arrived with a refreshing
mango juice. When we had issues connecting to WiFi, they immediately provided us with a hotspot for
our room. They also arranged for a driver to take us into town for lunch and some souvenir shopping.
Nixon made our stay and went out of his way to be helpful. The chef at the restaurant made great meals
in a beautiful setting. One morning for breakfast they even packed us a to go box for us to take with us
on our hike. When we did not arrive until late in the evening from the hike and we weren't sure if we
had missed the meal time, they called our room to see if we would like dinner. I was a bit hesitant to
book this place at first because there weren't many reviews, but don't let that stop you. For a budget
price, this place exceeded expectations.

First impressions, not expecting us at all, admittedly arrival time of approximately 22.00 had been advised on initial reservation only once a few weeks previously. Room large, well equipped, tv, kettle tea and coffee, water, very clean, freshly laundered towels and bedclothes. But there was a lingering smell of smoking, not good. Breakfast was average, again maybe no preparation for their unexpected guests. So egg on toast and a plate of fruit with tea or coffee. Very friendly and helpful but needs to be more professional was my opinion then.
A week later after safari we returned for one night. This time they were prepared, a lovely evening meal. Pumpkin soup, delicious. Goat with potatoes for me, with rice for Helen, various vegetables, very nice in-deed. And chocolate pancake to finish, all with a very nice bottle of red wine. The three course meal was booked inclusive with the hotel night, not much extra on the BB price. Wine only $10. Very good food and service. Nice clean room, great service and for a very early flight a breakfast box to leave. A quiet locally run place quite acceptable.

There are two gems at Malkia Trees…Albert and Naomi. We arrived late for our one night stay because we had a last-minute change in our booking at another hotel. We arrived and immediately were greeted by Albert who cared for all our needs throughout our stay. He was most accommodating and kind.

Naomi is the chef and she is excellent! I had the Rosemary chicken for dinner. It had a nice char-grilled flavor and the side dishes were were also full of flavor. Breakfast was an omelet with delicious beans (REALLY delicious…and I’m not usually a bean fan), with fruit and toast. Plenty of tea and coffee were also provided. These two did all they could to make our stay nice.

I have some advice for the owners though…the room itself needs maintenance and more cleaning. There need to be mattress protectors on the bed (I could read the writing on the mattress through the bed sheet). Sheets and towels need to be cleaned better. Fresh paint, removing old couch in the room, replacing carpet would go a long way to upgrading this property.

The location in the trees is beautiful and Albert and Naomi were wonderful! If attention is given to bettering the rooms…this could be a very nice place in Arusha.

Landed at Kilimanjaro International Airport from Florida (USA) with my family. The owner of Malkia (Honest and Margareth Marandu) met us at the airport in person and took us to their property in Arusha. Malkia Trees Lodge is within banana canopies mingled in large trees. The rooms were clean, warm water and free Wi-Fi. Private and tranquil. Free continental breakfast very delicious and organic. The kids had such an excellent experience and good time such that they did not want to leave. Very professional and friendly staff.

Our group stayed here for two nights before starting a safari. Albert and his team made us feel perfectly at home, going above and beyond expectations. Our bags were a day delayed at the airport but we didn’t notice missing a thing because we were so well cared for here. The food was incredible and more than we could possibly eat, the rooms were a great respite after days exploring Arusha, and we appreciated all of the special touches that the staff did for us to make us feel welcome!

Exceptional in every way!

I travel to Arusha frequently and for long durations. I always seek a hotel that is centrally located but quiet, offers delicious and healthy local cuisine, and provides consistent a/c, hot water, and power. I found all this and more at Malkia Trees Lodge!

During my two-week stay, the staff went above and beyond providing exceptional customer service. Albert made certain that every need was met and even made me ginger tea when I was ill. No request was too much; his commitment to excellent customer service is unparalleled!

Naomi, the chef, prepared the most delicious meals. I prefer vegetarian and her tantalizingly dishes are something I will certainly miss!

Room service was thorough and spotless. Every day I had fresh towels and sheets, and the coffee/tea/water bar was restocked.

Leaving here today I will miss the quiet (no shouting churches or mosques nearby) and the sense of family that Malkia Trees Lodge provides. As a special surprise on my last night, they even prepared a beautiful table surrounded by lanterns outside near the pool.

Do yourself a favor and check out my favorite place to stay in Arusha: Malkia Trees Lodge! You will not be disappointed!

The breakfast was so delicious and the chef made sure to make our eggs according to our request.
The rooms are also very spacious, big beds and really hot showers. WIFI is available throughout the whole premises. Very friendly staff! And conveniently placed close to Arusha town but yet secluded like a little oasis. Loved it!

We booked last minute and arrived late at night and they were there to great us, showed us to our room. The staff made everything easy and are super friendly which I love. One guy even gave us his personal number in case we needed anything overnight. I appreciate that!

The lodge is nicely set back in the forest and you can have a full breakfast outside in the jungle. We were listening to the rain and birds and it just felt so peaceful.

I would recommend you to stay if you are staying in Arusha before/after safari!
