Stayed for 2 nights and very impressed by the superb staff there: I had to go out for dinner one night and the security guy walked with me to ensure safety. The next day I needed to go to supermarket, the staff member accompanied me to 4 different stores to find what I want and also pointed to a local bbq joint for the most tasty chicken I had for the whole 3 weeks in Africa. They really go out of the way to ensure guest safety and happiness. Rooms are basic, but clean and adequate. Wifi worked well. There was some issue with hot water on the first day; back to normal on the second day. A very pleasant stay. Would go back again.

The locality of the hotel is not great but OK. We were advised not to roam around once it gets dark. We took a walk to a nearby supermarket but while coming back did not feel that safe (some people indeed tried to act funny in the wrong way). There is also no decent restaurants around so you are kind a stuck to the hotel for food. But having said that the food in the hotel is pretty good & tasty. The staffs (2) at the restaurant are also very nice. Over all - OK for a layover before and after the Safari.

I stayed here for one night when first landing in Arusha before continuing on to safari. I ate dinner and breakfast here and the food was good. The rooms were nothing special but it is fine if you just plan on staying for a short period of time.

Such lovely people that work here! I chose this hotel for two things: hot shower & wifi. From the four shower attempts during my stay, there was only one time that there was hot water. The wifi was good at one point, but generally it was spotty or not functioning. These two items would deserve 1 star, especially of the skewed expectation-execution. However, things that I wasn't looking for, were very good: the food was generally good, with an extensive breakfast. The only strange thing was that one day, breakfast would have omelets and condiments for bread (e.g. honey, peanut butter), but then another day at breakfast, these items wouldn't be here and omelettes were not offered. The best part of the stay was the lady at the reception (I think her name was Sayuki), she was awesome! Furthermore: the place was clean, the bed comfy, and there was a fridge. If you don't need hot water or reliable wifi, this hotel gets a rating of 5!

I stayed 2 nights at Mc Ellys Hotel and enjoyed my stay. The manager is very hands on and his friendly relaxed manner is adopted by the staff to create a lovely friendly atmosphere. The rooms are simple and fully functional, and the menu in the Restuarant is similarly simple but tasty. I strongly recommended Mc Ellys for anybody looking for a ‘good-value-feels-like-home’ kind of place.

We stayed one night after our safari. The management was really helpful and friendly, allowing our group to leave some luggages we did not need on safari and to have a lovely breakfast before we left to our 5days safari. Rooms are fine, we had a nice spacious balcony, fridge and TV. Bathrooms are little worn out, but overall feeling was comfortable. Breakfast was served even in the early morning before our flight and it was very delicious. Mr. Sayuki is a man on the right place, he goes far beoynd in hospitality and politeness to every guests. I will definitely return with other group in the future.

Hotel was the worst hotel we have been in our life. The first night we came late at 23pm (not for our fault but flight delay and even tough we had dinner included nobody saved some food for us after 24 hours of flight). Today we came back in this hotel and the receptionist told us that the dinner was until 9pm so we went to the restaurant at 8pm but the waitress when saw us she didn’t welcome at all, she was upset to see us! Then we asked for buffet and she said “ tonight no buffet but menu a la carte” so we asked what we could order and she said one starter one main. Because we didn’t eat the first night in this hotel and today we were quite hungry, we asked for two mains and she said “I have to ask to my manager”!!! We were shocked!!! The restaurant was empty, it was 8pm and you need to ask to your manager to do your job? After we started arguing because we were so upset because we never asked for food on that way and she said “you have to pay for the coffee you had this afternoon”!! What??? We were upset because you were leaving us without food and then you asked me to pay for the coffee I had this afternoon? Of course we pay for that but that was so rude that we could not believe that was really happening. We never have been treated like that in our life, the restaurant is unbelievable. We will never come back for sure!! Why nobody helped us the first night even if we said to the receptionist that we were hungry? , why tonight they looked at us like we were disturbing them instead welcoming us and preparing some good food? Why we couldn’t order what we wanted after we said we were really hungry? Why nobody informed us that was a la carte dinne? Why the waitress asked us 2 dollars in the middle of this sad situation without thinking that was the worst time ever to ask for that!!

This is a fantasy hotel, with great service. Also it is the only hotel I stay in when I travel to Arusha. The staff are very friendly and trustworthy. I have never had any issues with safety and security. The rooms are clean. Moreover staff provide a great service. The hotel is also situated very close to the central part of town.

Nice hotel before and after the kilimanjaro climbing. The rooms were clean and cosy not comfortable before the climbing, but very comfortable after the climbing, if you see what i mean... the breakfast was ok, not too much but it was ok
