Detailed Reviews
We were travelling in a group of 11 persons.
Everything was perfect there. The rooms were clean and with all amenities. We noted its great hospitality at our first step into the hotel. The food and services in restaurant were excellent. Their restaurant services were attentive in every aspects, even the items packed in lunch box was according to choices of each person.
The communications between the hotel and Roy Safaris, they were sister companies, was very smooth and efficient. The hotel actively took care of all our needs which we mentioned to Roy Safaris.
We highly recommended both the hotel and Roy Safaris to whom going to do safaris in Tanzania.

We were pleasantly welcomed at the African tulip hotel after landing in Tanzania. We were greeted with fresh juice and kind staff. The room was very clean and spacious with a shower and tub. The food was delicious and buffet style. There was lots of choices and you definitely did not go anywhere hungry. Drinks were fairly priced with lots to choose from, highly recommend the pina colada. The pool area was a nice touch for a hot day. Overall the service was great and I would recommend a stay here if you are traveling in/around Arusha.

Amazing hospitality! Great food (dinner and breakfast were yummy), large rooms (a lot of space to unpack), hot steamy showers (was very happy to have hot water). Nice pool, perfect for a hot day. Staff is very welcoming! Enjoyed my stay so much!

The staff is phenomenal and made our stay so enjoyable. They made us feel welcome and consistently went far beyond what one would expect. This included ensuring our fragile items were packed perfectly, working with me to fine tune my Swahili language skills, keeping us well fed, securing our boarding passes, and making us happy. Some of their stars include: Relema, Denis, Faraji, Shija, Mary, Fatima, and Edna.

The staff at the African Tulip were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a great location - within walking distance of downtown Arusha as well as some fun basket shopping around the corner. The rooms are spacious and have many thoughtful amenities. I look forward to staying here again on my next trip to Arusha.

We stayed at The African Tulip the night before our Safari began. It was the perfect way to start an amazing holiday. Having travelled some 20 hours to get to Tanzania, it was fantastic to be greeted by smiling faces and a beautifully put together hotel. Thank you!

We stayed here twice on our safari, first after almost a full day of air travel and then again at journey’s end. On both occasions, the African Tulip staff was uniformly friendly and helpful; it seemed there was nothing they were unwilling to do to make our visits the most pleasant possible. The public areas and our rooms were entirely first-rate in terms of the quality and condition. We would absolutely choose to stay here again should we return to Arusha. Highly recommended.

+1
We are from the US and traveled to Arusha to climb Kili and Sarafi. The staff performance was comparable to an expectation of staff from 5 star hotels in the US. Staff were always readily available and willing to help with anything from carrying luggage to room service to printing our COVID test results- you name it- they helped us with it. And everyone was ever so polite and professional. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated, with a faux boaboa tree greeting you in the lobby to the dark wood trim and deep red and orange fabric hues and the back garden and pool area was inviting as a lush tropical getaway. It was an jewel nestled within the busy and rumpled city. It was our oasis after long days on acclimatization hikes and between our kili hike (yes-we made it to the top!) and safaris. Stayed a total of 4 nights during our trip and they knew us by name around the 2nd night stay.

We arrived a few days early to acclimate before we climbed Mount Kilimanjaro. I had never been to East Africa before and didn't know what to expect. Since I don't speak Swahili, it was nice the the entire staff spoke English. From arrival to departure, then back again after the climb, everyone (I mean entire staff) was warm and friendly. I am in the service business back in the states and our company works very hard at customer service. This staff shows what it means to truly enjoy their jobs and are well trained. I would not hesitate to stay there again and encourage anyone doing a safari or climbing, to stay at the African Tulip.
It is a boutique hotel but rivals any of the 5 star hotels I've stayed in around the world for customer service, cleanliness, staff graciousness and the Baobab Restaurant is very good too!

This hotel is located in the Heart of Arusha, only a few minutes drive from the central clock tower in the city. The hotel is a mix of modern and traditional with African and western decor. The rooms are clean and spacious and relatively modern with modern showers and bathrooms. The staff are friendly and the service was amazing. One of the hotel managers was very accommodating, bringing my wife complimentary food during dinner as she was still hungry. I would recommend this for anyone staying in Arusha whether they are staying to explore the city or as a stop before the head on their safari.

Their rooms are huge. Easy to accommodate a cot or two. Check on their website about suites.

Get the rapid antigen test at the airport. You fill out the health questionnaire online using your phone, then pay $US10--cash only, no credit card. The results are printed in about 10-15 minutes.
I found that Tanzania people like the US dollars dated 2006 or newer. When we arrived in Tanzania we had to pay $100 per person cash in US dollars for an entry Visa. I heard UK people only had to pay $50. Go figure.
