We had planned to spend one night here at the end of a multi-stop safari. Due to a mechanical problem with the game viewing vehicle, we had to cut short our last safari stop and head back to Arusha. Our guide contacted the management at the African Tulip and they were able to schedule us two nights even though we only had a reservation for one night. We were most appreciative of their consideration. Everyone was most gracious and their service was outstanding. Management really worked to insure everything was well with our stay. We enjoyed having an HVAC system in the room after being in the bush for awhile. The food in the Baobab Restaurant was very good and offered Indian, Italian, local cuisine, and even some variations on the pizza theme. (Never had corn on a chicken pizza before but it worked!) We did not see any elevators/lifts for access to the second and third floor rooms, so if stairs are an issue, you might request a first-floor room. Some bathrooms have integrated tub/shower units (room 7 where some in our party stayed) and some (room 9 where we stayed) had a separate tub and shower. We certainly enjoyed our stay and it was a great way to prepare for the long trip home.

This hotel was an absolute highlight of a ten-day trip to Tanzania. Some rooms are not very big but feature everything needed from comfortable beds to spacious bathrooms with plenty of hot water.
Sipping a drink poolside, especially their signature Hakuna Matata cocktail is relaxation at its best. And their Baobab restaurant, while pricey by local standards, is a great option for dinner. The staff is almost over-attentive at times but they really make sure you enjoy your time at the African Tulip.

We stayed at this hotel at the start and the end of our safari. We were actually given the same room, both times, and lucky for us, we were upgraded to a huge suite -- we even had a nice balcony. The room itself was very clean, spotless. We ate lunch and breakfast in the restaurant. Everything we had seemed very fresh and was tasty and flavorful. The staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly. They were always making sure that our stay was going well and being very accommodating. They were amazing with following all of the Covid rules. Lots of sanitizer available, all staff was wearing facemasks, etc. Great, comfortable stay, would definitely visit again.

Ww stayed here for 2 nights at the bookends of our safari. This hotel is beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and their staff are friendly, attentive and very obliging. The manger is always around making sure everything is to your satisfaction. We stayed in a suite both times and both were tastefully decorated and well appointed. One suite had a balcony, which was a perfect place to sit outside and relax with a beverage. There is water in the room for both drinking and brushing teeth, and the staff come around in the afternoon with more water. This charming boutique hotel offers you a luxurious stay, excellent food in their restautant and service that is excellent. Thanks for a wonderful stay African tulip Hotel.

The room is large and comfortable with all the amenities needed. I am very pleased that the African Tulip has a water (hot and cold) in the room instead of bottled water and a coffee maker.

Service is great both upon arrival, restaurant, food is delicious, staff very accommodating and goes out of their way to meet your requests.

I have stayed at the African Tulip several times and they are consistent in their service and quality of food and lodging.

We stayed here overnight before and after our Kilimanjaro trek. It has wonderfully hot water, a great bar, and a restaurant on-site. All the comforts that soften the blow of the mountain! The rooms are large and air conditioned with filtered water in every room. We loved our stay here.

We stayed in the African Tulip hotel prior to our trek up Mount Kilimanjaro, and then post trek/pre-safari, with a stop over on our final day to collect bags/clean-up.

The rooms were all very nice, clean, and quite comfortable.

The staff are all extremely friendly, helpful, and very accommodating.

Meals were terrific, the breakfast buffet was delicious - with an omelet station!

They were able to securely store our extra bags of safari gear while we went on a one week Kilimanjaro trek, and then they securely stored all of our trekking gear while we were on Safari.

We didn't use the pool, but it looked very nice.

The next time I'm in Arusha I'll be back to the African Tulip!!

What a warm hotel, you feel warmth the minute you step into the reception area... employees are cooperative & friendly, smiling at all times & welcoming you however you move. ... even the manager came out to welcome us & bid us farewell..a pleasant person.
We had dinner by the poolside & the fish we ordered was great.
Breakfast buffet has a lot to offer & omelette corner!!
Our room was facing the pool, the size of which is spacious but the lovely surprise was the BIG bathroom....
A water cooler/ heater is available too with coffee & tea sachets..
If you are ever in Arusha, this is the hotel to stay at.

Answer from Nancyl_7

I found that Tanzania people like the US dollars dated 2006 or newer. When we arrived in Tanzania we had to pay $100 per person cash in US dollars for an entry Visa. I heard UK people only had to pay $50. Go figure.
