Local Ground Operators: From the first moment we landed at the airport in Kilimanjaro and were met by a Ranger Safari who took care of getting our VISAs and navigating us fairly quickly through the big crowds, to the last drive to the Mauritius airport by the Solis Representative; all local ground operators were always punctual, friendly, reliable, and respectful. Their reliability and welcoming service quickly relieved any anxieties about our many transitions throughout our trip. We strongly support their continued service through AAC because they played a key role in the success of our trip. Standards of Guiding Tanzania/Zimbabwe: They provided us with your best guides in Eastern Africa and Victoria Falls…Thank you very much! Our guide readily shared his knowledge and passion of his country, culture and wildlife with us each day. He demonstrated deep respect for us, the people, the animals and the natural environment. At all times we felt safe and secure with him; both on and off the road. His driving skills were exceptional in different conditions and traffic; whether sand or mud and anything in between. He listened to us and was very attuned to meeting our daily needs with flexibility, wisdom and experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our safari with him; he made our safari safe, exciting and educational. Without hesitation, we would recommend him for guiding. Our second guide also readily shared her vast knowledge of Victoria Falls and Zimbabwe with us. Her friendliness, humour and expertise made our Victoria Falls trip very rich. We would also strongly support her for future guiding. Accommodations Nothing short of stellar! Customer service, food and quality of bedding were superior from beginning to end. The people were always warm, welcoming and available. All our accommodations were very suitable and without hesitation we would recommend them to others. Wildlife Viewing Beyond our expectations and imagination! As it was early March, we benefitted from the January/February calving season and saw many newly born or young animals (as well as the adults). Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro Crater were teeming with wildlife; we were able to view the migration in the Serengeti. We saw the “Big 5”, and lots of cats (which was a bonus we didn’t expect), birds and other mammals. Botswana gave us herds and herds of elephants! This was a great time to go and we were lucky to get in before the rains of Eastern Africa!

The rooms at this hotel are great, no complaints there. Its like a one bedroom flat with living area, kitchen, large bathroom, and bedroom. We called them in advance to verify they had a pool and business centre. Which they confirmed they did. Upon arrival, the hotel was under renovation and they were preparing for a party therefore the pool area was blocked with tables and chairs. When I brought it there attention, they suggested I still use it even though it was being set up for a massive reception, with workers and event planners around it at all times. There is no business centre but there is several rooms for holding meetings. So I think they misunderstood our request. The manager was great to deal with and apologized for the inconveniences but we just needed a place to relax and it was hard to do that when they were getting ready for a big party. If you want to go there for a business trip, this is the place.

The apartment is clean and just the right size. I enjoyed my stay here and even added one more day to the visit. The only downs are the breakfast which could be better and the generator that was down for a good part of the morning on one of the days I spent there. I highly recommend the hotel. I think it is now named Gold Crest.

Impressed by the room size. Small improvements could be made (eg creamer for tea/coffee in the kitchen, dustbin, douche at the toilet) Overall it's a good choice. Great value for your money. The porters were very helpful, so was the receptionist.

Large rooms and living rooms and very friendly and helpful staff. Great showers. This was a great place to stay after safari. This hotel is a great value for the money. You have the ability to walk 10 minutes into the town. Note that staff advised not to take purses or valuables on the walk because the bridge to the town apparently can be a little dangerous. It is a 30 minute (because of traffic) and $30 drive to the airport. Dinner had good service, but the food was not quite as good as other places we have had especially for the price.

The hotel has some of the best well equipped suites in Arusha the kitchen has basically all you may need while the sitting area is also well done from the sitting room you will have a great view of the pool, the breakfast is great with varieties but same same day in day out. The WiFi strength needs to be improved. The reception and the bar staff are very friendly and speak good English as well. The bar has all variety of drinks.

Checked into East African Hotel very late at night and the general manager Mr. Josephat seeing us so tired ushered us in with a warm heart and took upon him to first let us rest and check in the next day. That was very kind of him as we were tired from delayed flights. He took it upon himself to also wake us up for breakfast given that we would have slept through as we were too tired to even set alarms! With this kind of keen staff I will definitely come back here as they went out of their way to accommodate us and to even help us trace our lost luggage from the airport. The staff is helpful and always ready to help. The room service and house keeping is fast and efficient. The only thing I'd recommend to them is to give more options on their breakfast buffet as well the food menu. My husband was a bit disappointed his favorite local beer was not available but he nonetheless enjoyed what was available. If you're looking for a quiet, home away from home feel I definitely recommend this hotel.
