The Cote D’Azue De Cham Hotel and Resort is located north of the large Syrian seaside port city of Latakia.
From our arrival to our check out our stay was a very mixed results.
The hotel is rated as a five-star property, but we discovered that it was much closer to a four star resort. The lobby; rooms and hotel property in general was four star. The beach and the Terrace Restaurant were closer to a five star property.
The check in and check out process was quite protracted and quite lengthy. There was no bell staff available when we checked in thus making our unloading process very difficult. In addition the car park area was very small and limited. They were available during our check out and were quite professional.
It was also very difficult to find a parking area so if left the hotel to go outside the hotel we all dreaded the return due to the parking challenges!
I must admit that the hotel’s Corona Virus practices were very, very good as the reception staff wore plastic face shields as well as the entire staff wore face masks at all times. There were the designated locations on the floor where one is to wait during the check-in and check-out process.
We had booked a ‘junior suite’ which was large and had a nice balcony facing the beach. Unfortunately, the suites furniture needed replacement and there TV was quite small for a suite and there was no waste paper bin available in the room, only one small one in the bathroom.

I've been to this hotel on numerous occasions, as I'm originally from a town an hour from there, but grew up in the U.S.

I like this hotel. Put simply, it's clean, the service though slow, is very nice. The food is good and the location is excellent. The water is beautiful (Eastern Mediterranean of course). I saw one woman posted that they wouldn't allow muslim women to swim on their beach. The thing is, they don't allow Fully Clothed women to swim there. I think they consider it a liability and drowning risk, not to mention they're trying to uphold secular appearance for tourists. So, you can swim, you just need to have a bathing suit on to do so. It just stinks they don't explain that up front so you're not spending your money there if that's the case.

*Note for foreign travelers, when we went they asked to see our marriage certificate. So unless it's your relative or your husband, they don't usually allow you to book one room there if it's just your boyfriend/significant other. I am thinking this common in muslim govt. countries. So just a heads up.
Otherwise, I would highly recommend it. We haven't been disappointed. I'd rate it as a 3 star place by American standards, but maybe 4 stars by Syrian standards, still pretty good for the money you pay, which is relatively inexpensive.

No matter how old i get .No matter what cities I see. This city latikia ,this hotel in specific will remain the closest to my heart :( I have been here every summer for 10 consecutive years just before the war emerged !! I had , with my family mom dad and brother, the best days of my life.Back to the hotel, the rooms are pretty and clean ,the beach just facing the hotel 2 mins by feet from the room. The free breakfast is awesome with various types and tastes. The staff is welcoming. The lobby is big and ancient. The hotel is not far away from the city center.I hope i can get back here one day with my children to bring up my lovely childhood memories

I went to enjoy my holiday in Syria with my husband. But was discussed to find out that as a muslim woman I was not allowed to swim on the beach from 8am to 8pm in the hotel resort.

I have NEVER been so insulted in my life, both as a muslim and western woman from australia . Shame on you.

A lady from france had the same problem as me unfortunatly she paid fo the whole week, I just walked out the door.

Muslims beware, we just want to have a nice holiday like everyone else.

The only thing good about this hotel is it's location. We are European so going out to eat wasn't an option due to the language barrier which is why we chose a self catering suite in Cote D'Azur De Cham Resort, Latakia, Syria.

They had two cooker rings which didn't heat up enough to boil water to make tea/coffee. The fridge wasn't cold enough to keep the milk fresh. And here's the best part. No pots/pans/plates/cups/cutlery. Just empty presses. I don't know what they expected us to pack when travelling to this hotel. Surely you wouldn't pack half your own kitchen.

There were four adults and one child staying in our suite and yet the cleaners only left two bath towels everyday. Cleaners were not very friendly but the reception staff were nice and mannerly. We had to ring them everyday for more fresh towels.

The bathroom! A small shower tray with no shower curtain. There were two bathrooms in the suite both with showers. The shower head wouldn't sit into the wall bracket properly so you have to hold the shower hose and hose yourself down. This was the case in both bathrooms in the suite.

I could go on forever but I think you'll get the idea.....

Regards,

Joanne

I don't like the photos you have of it here, it only shows the bad parts of the place they don't even have ants inside. You make it look like a trash hotel, but irl it's like a paradise. The picture of the beach is outside the hotels own private beach, who actually is very CLEAN, they clean up the beach every morning!

Just returned with family. Very clean and friendly service. Excellent and very clean beach. Not commercial like Dubai. Loads of acitivities for kids to do outside the hotel. Even though not much pots and pans in the kitchen, but good food in the restaurant and good room service at no extra cost. Would definitely go back

We only spent one night there - luckily as this is not a five-star hotel as they allege to be. The room was clean but nothing special, average in all respects. The receptionist was very slow and did not seem to know her job; they had some problems to handle our Mastercard so in the end we had to pay with Visa. The hotel is a huge complex devoid of any personal touch. If you wish to spend a boring week, this is the place to do that.
