We had booked to go and unfortunately we couldnt due to COVID 19 travel restrictions. The hotel couldnt have been more understanding. No deductions/cancellation was painless. Booked via wotif. all responded very well. will definitely try again!!! (sadly didnt have same experience with UMA SAPNA at Seminyak - despite agreeing to change dates they didnt respond to confirm and deducted costs of our accom in full - no refund.....). Nice change with this group - lovely response. thank you!!

My 2 daughters and I were greeted with a lovely welcome drink, warm towels, a nice smile. Rooms are traditional and well maintained. We were thrilled that our mini bar was stocked on arrival and the contents were complimentary! The hotels setting is stunning, however it is perched on a steep hill and you will constantly be walking up and down stairs. This is not a hotel for guests with disabilities or medical conditions. The spa is well priced and magically positioned in a grotto like cave above a running river. It was quite unique. Be careful though, the stones under foot are very slippery. Breakfast was a reasonably good assortment of western and local food and there was an egg station (which I always really enjoy) to have your eggs prepared to your specifications. Unfortunately the tea (as usual in Bali) was terribly weak and I had to ask for extra teabags each morning. The location of this hotel is excellent as it is a 10-15 min walk to town, or you can use the hotel shuttle if you are too hot and bothered to walk. There is a also a mini-mart across the road for supplies which was great. Considering this hotel was built in the 1920’s it is very well presented and feels ‘traditional’ rather than dated. The pools are original but very pleasant and seem to be filled with either fresh or mineral water, not your typical salt or chlorine. We swam in the main pool daily and my daughters and I could not believe how soft and shiny our hair was throughout our stay. We didn’t need to wash our hair once. It was lovely to lay by the pool, listen to the birds and enjoy the jungle setting, especially in the mornings and later in the afternoon. Unfortunately there are no umbrellas by the pool beds, so through the middle of the day when the sun is scorching hot, it is impossible to stay by the pool for an extended time and enjoy a drink and read a book. A great asset to this hotel is its friendly, accomodating staff. I would like to pass on a special thank you to Duty Manager Aryan who went out of his way to assist us with moving to more appropriate room on our second day. Nothing was too much trouble for him and his delightful team. Overall, I would recommend this charming hotel and I would definitely stay again.

For the two days we were in Ubud, this place was perfect. Yes, the rooms were a bit outdated but we didn’t care. The facilities, staff and experience were amazing. It was an easy walk to everything we wanted to see in Ubud and the staff were so wonderful. Get a drink, sit in the lobby and gaze into the jungle. You’ll be hooked!

Stayed here for 5 days, and really enjoyed the peace and quiet here! The freshwater pool was a lifesaver when the weather was hot - we were in many other pools during our 3 weeks in UBUD/GILI, and this was by far the coldest - and thats a positive !!! Great food in the restaurant, and really close to UBUD centre - 10 minutes walk (or Free shuttle bus :-)) Only "negative" was the waiters in the restaurant: when you eat you hardly get to lay your knife and fork before they take your plate - we had to stop them several times, as we were'nt finished - i like the fact that they want to supply fast and excellent service, but sometimes you want a 3 course dinner to last more than 30 minutes :-) Would absolutely recommend this hotel, and would love to visit again some day
