Nestled in the Himalayas, The Westin Resort & Spa is a haven of luxury that garners consistent praise for its comprehensive amenities, including a variety of dining options, infinity pools with arresting views, and a plethora of activities aimed at relaxation and fun. Guests revel in the spacious, modern rooms with breathtaking views, although a few mention varying room sizes and occasional construction disturbances. The hotel's cleanliness stands out, with meticulous housekeeping and hygienic dining settings. An inviting and elegant atmosphere permeates the resort, making it a hit with families. The staff's exceptional hospitality is frequently lauded, even if some guests experience sporadic delays in service. The value proposition receives mixed reviews; while many are satisfied with the overall experience, some consider it expensive, particularly when factoring in extra activity costs. The tranquil location is celebrated for its restful and family-friendly environment, though it may be less ideal for those eager to sightsee.

This is a newly opened luxury retreat high up in the mountains.
Am hours drive from the Dehradun airport and 20 kms from Rishikesh.
The property is quite expansive, well maintained with a 180 degree unhindered view of the valleys.
My brother and I spend 6 days at the property and never felt like moving out and we didn’t.
We were provided an early check in..Priyam, Aditi and Maria at the reception were really helpful.
We had all our meals at Akasa…Chef Vivekananda and Suresh went out of their way and cooked us local food that wasn’t even listed on their menu.
Sheetal, Hasan, Sanjay and Inder were always attentive and friendly.
Priyanka and Samruddhi at the bar were jovial and kept us entertained.
Rashi was there for us always.
The highlight of the stay was the spa, I was exceptional.
The gym was well equipped, we used it all the days.
We never got into the pool as the water temperature was quite low. Being on the hills, this property deserves a temp controlled pool…else the pool looks good only on pictures, rendering it unusable.
We interacted with the GM, Mr. Singh, a jovial person who’s climbed the ladder to heights in the industry.. opening a brand new resort is tough and he has done a fantastic job.
The resort has employed and trained a lot of locals, that’s very heartwarming.

So many positives…but I have to mention a few negatives:

1. It’s understood that the resort can be afforded by only the well heeled, but one way drop of 4,000+ taxes to Rishikesh town is ridiculously expensive. Taking advantage of the location is understandable, but undue advantage?
It was really off-putting…why can’t Marriott own their cars, their drivers and provide free shuttle..that’s what they do across the world.

2. Swimming pool HAS to be temperature controlled. Looks good on pictures, but can you use them….NO…

3. The local staff are raw, they need to be trained better…I understand that they are work still in progress.

Having said all this, I have booked myself for a week more in December…
Need I say more about this place?

45 minutes from Dehradun airport and a similar distance from Rishikesh, The Westin Resort & Spa is the perfect place to unwind and escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. While the location makes sightseeing slightly more difficult, the rest and relaxation you receive more than makes up for it. In fact, it ended up being perfect for us as we ended up relaxing at the property and making use of the many amenities and Spa services which I strongly recommend you do as well. We went for their Signature Massage and enjoyed it so much we went for it again before we left.

The food at Westin, Himalayas is delicious at both their restaurants, Akasa– their all day dining restaurant, and Toya– the Japanese and Thai offering. We had multiple meals at both places and only have positive things to share. The Garhwali Thali, an off the menu speciality recommended by Hasan, was a particular standout and I strongly recommend opting for it at least for one of your meals. Shivam at Toya also gave excellent recommendations and was a great host throughout our meals. Priyanka was also the consummate host and a great source of company during our many meals at Akasa. We found many commonalities and we had a great time conversing and Priyanka had many excellent suggestions including the Hot Chocolate Experience at Haven Lounge, another must-have at The Westin Resort & Spa, Himalayas. Ajay at Pebbles the Bar made an excellent Hot Toddy for us which was just right for the weather. Ashish Kandwal, the Executive Sous Chef, and the entire culinary team at the resort can take a bow for the two excellent restaurants at the property.

Finally, the room– ours was designed with comfort in mind while also looking aesthetically pleasing. There’s not much flashiness but the wood and neutral tone really added to the inviting, homely feel. The bathtub was also great to come back to after a long day of walking. We also got options for memory foam pillows which is always a great addition in case you need it. Moreover, the room opens up to the balcony with a gorgeous view of the valley and of the sunset. Big props to the housekeeping staff like Swarnim who ensured the room was always kept in perfect condition.

There’s a lot more to cover like the wonderful Afternoon Tea but the long and short of it is that the Westin Resort & Spa, Himalayas is a must-visit. From the moment I booked the room to the smooth checkout facilitated by Ankita and Surya, I have nothing but great experiences to share. So kudos to the entire Westin Resort & Spa, Himalayas team. I cannot wait to be back.

The food was amazing and the staff of the bar was amazing. The cocktails served were amazing and the comfort while having the drinks were so awesome. As it was cold outside, they offer you a shawl so that you can enjoy the drink with warmth. The rooms were hygienic and specially the pizza; the dough and the base are made there itself and freshly served!

One of the best and excellent property I have ever stayed!

First of all, I would like to thank Mr. Akum for all the help that he has provided us to make our stay comfortable and memorable.

Check in was a breeze, we didn't have to wait even for a single minute, since it was already late afternoon, we wanted to head for high tea and snacks where a beautiful Aarti happens inside the hotel. The food was excellent and so the coffee & tea.

We got to our room classic suite; I must say it's very spacious that many other classic suites in other hotels. Rooms are very neat and luxurious; they have a beautiful bathroom with a very nice small wardrobe room inside which helped us to keep all our luggage at one place. Two big TVs, one in living room and the other one in bedroom. Very nice balcony overlooking beautiful Ganges River and Rishikesh city.

Food at Toya was excellent. We never thought we would get such delicious Asian food at such heights. Even the food at Akasa and Pebbles was very nice. Breakfast was stupendous and very well catered. There were times where we got our coffee or something else delayed, but we understand it's due to extreme capacity of hotel guest as it was Diwali Holidays time. But the food and service were top notch, even for the in room dinning.

There's a lot to do in terms of facilities at the hotel. Kids room indoor and outdoor are very well made. There's also a gaming center for adults with bowling alley and electronic games with foosball and air hockey. The Spa is very well made, they have whirlpool, steam and sauna too out there.

Swimming pool is so beautiful, since it's an infinity pool it mesmerizes you at the time of sunset. There are so many relaxing beds and sunbeds that many times we use to just be lazy around and have long conversations out there.

Overall, the property is fantastic. Service is great. I definitely recommend everyone, especially with family and kids. Mr. Akum is an excellent Duty Manager out there who made sure everything was going well for us.

Property did not live upto the name of westin at all.
The services at every area was unprofessional. Breakfast buffet experience was so bad that it felt like you are eating in a dhabha. The tables were left uncleaned and we had to eat at dirty table. A simple black coffee arrived after na hour of ordering in the buffet. Water glasses arrived an hour late after giving 4 reminder calls. The staff was lost and did not know their jobs right. The personnel did not live upto the standard of westin ecen slightest and overall experience does not justify the room tariffs that is being charged in the whole experience

I had an absolutely fantastic stay at the Westin Himalayas! The hospitality was truly top-notch, and I was blown away by the stunning views from both the pool and my upgraded premium room that faced the pool. Rashi from the front desk was incredibly helpful throughout my stay, and Mr. Bhushan also went above and beyond to take care of us. At Akasa, Chef Suresh Basni and Ankit Negi made sure that every one of our needs was met. The pizza and gnocchi were really exquisite, and the local dish katlambe was a delight for chole lovers. Even during the high tea, Priyanka provided exceptional service. The team even assisted in procuring medicine from the market, showcasing their dedication to guest well-being. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of my stay. It was an unforgettable experience of comfort, care, and luxury.

We stayed there for 2 nights in April and our stay was fantastic. The views from the rooms are really scenic. They also gave us a room that was fit for a toddler and had a bunk bed and a tent in it which he enjoyed.

The check in and check out were smooth and we were taken care of by Rashi who was friendly and cheerful. The rooms were spacious, well designed and elegant. The toiletries and amenities were top notch and room service/house keeping was really responsive. The room is thoughtfully designed, the charging ports are adequate, and views from the balcony are gorgeous.

The Hi-tea, followed by Ganga Aarti was nice and elaborate, and they had good choice of snacks for Hi-Tea.

We dined at Akasa all 4 times, the breakfast buffet was really elaborate and had all one could wish for. Aalam and Suman took good care of us at Akasa.

Their swimming pool is gorgeous, and for me, a highlight of the property. Our toddler spent hours at the kiddie pool which is large in size as well. He enjoyed the play areas as well.

On the whole, an excellent stay, and we will definitely come back here when we visit Rishikesh again.

Went for a short two days excursion to this beautiful resort. The rooms are built beautifully with a modern touch and architecture. The views from the resort are scenic and picturesque. The food at Akasa was scrumptious and had a good variety even at breakfast.

The property is fairly new, only a year old, and it shows in the slight roughness of the overall experience- which needs to be smoothened out. The staff needs more training at being faster and more attentive to the guests’ needs. I had requested for rooms with better views on upper floors, which was not catered to despite the low occupancy of around 20%. There is an odd stench at several places across the resort.

Most of the extra activities at the gaming zone are at an extra charge, which is odd considering the price already paid for the stay- these should be inclusive upto some limit.

Overall stay was very good but it still needs some work to be commesurate to the prices being charged.

We had the pleasure of being one of the first guests to the property. Westin Rishikesh lives up to the highest expectations. From warm welcomes with drinks, caps, amenities to farewells with photographs, goody bags for the journey and your cars cleaned for the return trip and everything else in between- no thought is spared. The front office headed by Sunny Prashar along with Maria ensured comfort at every step.
The architecture and design of the resort is beyond anything seen in the country, it is GRAND. Double or triple height ceilings in public areas, large open sitting spaces adorned with a beautiful selection of succulents in a variety of terrariums. The attention to the grandest scale and to the minutest scale is unmistakable. As a designer I was blown away by the quiet grandeur of the place.
The high tea on the deck every evening brings the guests together. This gesture speaks highly of the ethos of Westin Rishikesh.
The high point of this resort is the staff. The staff is gracious and keen to cater to every wish. The meals are wholesome. The servers and chefs take pains to serve you delicious local and international cuisine. Thank you Kamlesh, Sheetal, Allen Nishant.
The spa is just beautiful, the treatment rooms, post treatment lounge exude peace - just what the soul ordered. The yoga trainer Bharti ensured that I went back feeling better than before.
The housekeeping team intuitively took care of every wish- from placing paints and brushes to cookies and cheese, foot spa arrangements, teas, coffee, flowers for worship...
The lounge is heaven that has an aroma of coffee. At the time of our visit only mocktails were being served and they were fresh and delicious. The servers at the lounge were especially caring.
The recreation area named Hakuna matata wasn't yet operational when we went but with it's bowling alleys, and a variety of other games will keep families entertained for hours in end.

Not in the immediate vicinity (there may be one or two in the adjoining hotel property) but suggest take a day trip into Tapovan by taxi and you will find a wide variety of cafes and restaurants that will delight. In Tapovan, go to Tattv cafe, Beatles cafe, Divine resort, the choices are endless and great ambience of sitting by the river Ganges and taking in the views

Nothing wrong with the approach road. Taxi's and trucks go all the way up to the hotel. It is up a mountain so naturally a low gear needed. Its a beautiful scenic ride up
