Ballys is an affordable AC beachfront option. Ceasars (which is obviously a much nicer hotel) is right next door and was literally triple the price for the nights we stayed. We got one of the newly renovated suites and it was gorgeous. We especially loved the soaking tub and the panoramic views from the corner suite. I have stayed in AC probably 75 times over the years and I must say this was probably one of the nicest rooms I have had here. However, even though the rooms were exceptional, everything else in this hotel is completely run down. The exterior looks like the place is out of business. Numerous lights out in the worn out faded Ballys signs, garbage all over the property and in general everything is just dated and worn out. The interior was just as bad. Extremely tired and unkept. When you walk from Caesars to Ballys it’s a huge night and day difference. With the exception of the Newly renovated Carousel Bar and the restaurant area on the 6th floor the place is in seriously rough shape and is in a desperate need of a makeover. The good news is it’s less then a 5 minute walk to Caesar’s so you can stay at Ballys for a fraction of the price and just spend your time at Caesars gaming areas and restaurants…which is exactly what my wife and I did.…
New company took over and everything looks the same. No updates. When we checked in we were told that where our room was we would hear loud music and if we wanted to Change riooms we would have to pay. We already paid a lot for the room so we said no. The music went on till 2:30am . They shouldn't even rent room there on the weekends. Ceasers took over the wild west so ballys is even smaller and they're not affiliated with any other casino anymore. Also it was dirty.
Stayed in the Bally's tower in late July, in a Jr. Suite (really just a corner room, but OK.) The good: The room looked recently renovated, and appeared exactly as shown on the hotel website. The bad: The website advertises valet parking (nice after a 7 hour road trip.) There is no valet parking, with the excuse "staff shortage". No mention of lack of valet service on the website. We had a three day stay. The room was poorly cleaned when we arrived. There were water bottles and socks behind the curtain in the bathroom and under the sofa. No room cleaning/towels/trash removal was done during the entire stay. When I called the front desk, the phone rang for 45 minutes with no answer. I tried back later, and when someone finally answered, their excuse was "your floor is not scheduled for service today." They sent up some towels, and garbage bags for us to empty the trash and dump it in the hallway! 40+ rooms per floor, 40+ floors, and dump your trash in the hall? Is that even legal? There was no warning on the website that the rooms were not serviced regularly. We took a look at the pool, since the ocean water was cold the week we were there. The water was cloudy enough that it was clear that the pool was being poorly maintained. It was bad enough that I didn't feel safe letting the family swim there. The room cost was about $230/night (with all of the various taxes, fees, etc.) About par for the course that week for the casino/hotels. Certainly not a discount price of any sort. Obviously I won't be staying there again. And from their response, they couldn't care less. From this experience, after 35 years of travelling, I have a new step added when I book a hotel. Call them first and make sure that the rooms are being cleaned daily and that the services on the website were actually available (valet parking) and usable (pool is being cleaned.) It never even occurred to me that I would have to ask those questions before staying at Bally's!…
So, I like Bally’s, I really do. Having said that. We drive in today, follow the signs to hotel valet, including the one that says ‘Superstar’ rewards tier parks valet for free. We sit in the car for about ten minutes and an employee tells us we can’t park at the door and need to move the car. I say we are checking in. He says we can go get a cart and load our bags, but there is no valet parking. So we get a cart and load our bags. Look, it’s fine. But cover the sign that says valet parking is available, and put a sign, a big sign, at the valet saying valet parking and bellmen are not available. If you can’t hire enough people to offer a traditional resort experience, that’s fine, but don’t waste my time with misleading signage and tell me what’s going on.
All of the little things are in need of more attention: Room keys did not work properly and had to go to the front desk numerous times. Maid service was non existent, not bad, just non existent. King Size Room in the Bally's Tower was spotless upon arrival. I expect to go back in the future.
My partner and I booked the king bed room through Hotwire. When I arrived, there were only 2 front desk receptionists who took forever to check in a couple people and no one was at the bell hop desk to receive your luggage ticket for valet. They had a DJ playing music at the bar so loud you could not hear what was being said. They put us in a room with 2 full size beds and said it had an ocean view. Instead. It was a view of the 3rd flr rood next to the elevators. I requested for the room to be changed which was refused. To further add insult to injury, the hotel had extremely loud music which vibrated through the room until almost 3am. They sarcastically offered us earplugs which were useless. The room had only one outlet to charge our phones. The furniture was dated, worn and scrartched. The bed was not firm or comfortable. The curtains had dust and dirt marks on them. The bathroom was equally dated and the shower tiles had the appearance of dried scum with scrub marks. Did I mention, the room had a funky mildew smell. A Huge disappointment and poor hospitality service, we will return to staying at Ocean Resorts. …
We thought being a resort and on the beach combined with the amount we paid per night would mean a clean and customer friendly stay. Most of the staff cannot speak or understand English, arrived at 1130p and even with 4+ staff it took over a half hour waiting in line to check in on a Monday night, our smoke free room smelled of smoke, housekeeping did not come daily and the wait for towels was at least two hours. I requested cream rinse and received coffee?, refrigerator barely keeps anything cold. Next time I will stick to my Hilton family and pay the price to drive and park at beach or convention center. This hotel needs some new management that knows about customer service or they may not make it. Probably won’t be back and certainly will not recommend.
We were told my someone at the front desk that if we wanted to feel safe, not to stay there. We wouldn't have access to our car and they had a string of car jackings in the garage. We were going to attend a convention.
Tried to go into the yard(used to be Harry's oyster bar) The inside was closed. We asked security if we could grab a beer, but sit inside as it was 90 out. He said no, not allowed. So, we decided to try the outside bar and get a few Bud lights, as they had signs saying it was on special. Ordered bud light from the bar tender and he said, you can only get that inside. We asked how can we do that, if it's closed. He just shrugged. Amazing! The four of just walked out, went to the water dog upstairs, had beers and lunch. Never will we go to the yard again.
Friends trip to AC every year for a decade. ALWAYS spent evenings at Harry's Oyster Bar, Dinner, Drink, and Tons of Laughs Now The Yard is there and Harry's if Gone.....WHY So we tried the Yard, the salad had wilted lettuce actually deteriorated as in rotten, flat bread pizza was lacking as was atmosphere. Server was nice..... WHY WHY WHY did Ballys not renew the lease with Harry's Won't be back to The Yard anytime soon. Also Harry's was always packed....the Yard, sparcely populated on a weekend night. BAD move Ballys BETTY
