Detailed Reviews
My favorite chain of hotels is the Ritz Carlton, they just never disappoint. The hotel is located on the beach and offers magnificent views of the ocean, and its gardens are well kept, lush and beautiful. Many options for kids activities, and great pools (both for adults and for kids), remarkable staff and tasty food options.
We had a garden villa (sea view villas were under refurbishment), and it had a beautiful private outdoor area and pool, but the villa and its outdoor area could need an update. Villas are spacious and come with a little kitchenette (great if you travel with small kids).
The staff is what makes this place stand out, however. I would like to warmly thank Leo in the reception for his wonderful service and can do attitude, he took care of us from the moment we checked in till the moment we checked out, he went up and above to make sure we had everything we could ever need. He is such an asset to the RC Sanya. A big shoutout to Iris and King in the Sand restaurant; always helpful and always on point with their service and so good at remembering guest preferences, and for always having my daughter’s oatmeal prepared to perfection. Also a big thank you to Jackie (?) the chef for taking the time to explain and discuss the very tasty sour/spicy soup noodle dish. A thank you to all other Ladies and Gentlemen that made our stay a wonderful getaway.
Normally I would not rate this a 5/5 - The hotel itself is in need of renovations (but I believe they are already doing this). Many competitors offer more updated facilities at this price point, English level of big parts of the staff could have been better (but they do their outmost to refer you to someone who can help), also the drivers should be better trained at how to install and use a rear facing child seat (not front facing), however it is the service and the kindness of the Ladies and Gentlemen that outweighs the drawbacks easily, and that made our stay a 5/5! RC service values 1, 2 and 3 - checked and exceeded!

It was indeed a remarkable experience in Sanya ever! I actually came for a short vacation in Sanya every year and the facilities in Ritz Sanya Yalong Bay were so amazing and the well-trained hotel staffs were the highlights for sure. Because I stayed in the hotel during my entire stay, the housekeeping team had always kept my room tidy and cleaned every time when I returned to it. The dining outlets were enjoyable as well, highly recommend the Chinese restaurant to you if you are a big fan of Chinese cuisine. In short, it is a wonderful hotel to stay if you gonna visit Sanya for leisure purposes. Hopefully, the COVID-19 could disappear as soon as possible and I can't wait to revisit this wonderland in the very near future:)

Put simply the Ritz is the "must stay at" resort in Sanya. The grounds and facilities are excellent, the restaurants delicious and the staff are wonderful. Highly recommended for families or couples looking for a special Sanya experience.
This was our first visit to Sanya, so we stayed at two resorts and visited quite a few others over 10 our days to compare the different restaurants and pools. The Ritz was the definitely the best in our view.
All of the staff were warm, friendly and helpful. A special shout out to Nanncy who was always available (even on her day off!) to answer questions and ensure our needs were addressed super promptly. On a number of occasions I felt like we got extra special attention thanks to her hospitality.
The gardens, pools, gym, spa, and rooms are all very nice and kept in great condition. We ate at four of the restaurants and were impressed at each one. Big thanks to Budi, who was super friendly, and always full of great advice on what to eat and how to spend our day.
The hotel has tons of activities for children, and adults can also find plenty of peace, quiet and serenity on the immaculate grounds as the resort is so spacious. Even at 90% occupancy the Ritz didn't feel at all crowded like so many of the other resorts we visited in Sanya.
We will absolutely be going back, and highly recommend this paradise to other travellers.

I am writing this review only regarding the beach, since it was this that led to complete confusion. I couldn’t find a review about it anywhere, and when you go to the island, the beach is the key (for a Russian person) when choosing a hotel.
I'm shocked to say the least! It's practically gone! A very narrow line - with a large cliff (a drop of sand - where the sunbeds are located) and where there is access to the sea! And it would be nice if there was a descent with steps and railings - no! You just jump off this cliff or slide down the hot sand! The sea - where you can swim - is fenced off like a swimming pool, okay - this is safety from the current, well then clear away the stones! The entrance is huge stones! When entering, I hurt my leg so much that I no longer consider this entrance safe! Russian children have gathered in a heap and are carrying stones beyond the buoys, the staff is resting! The line has already been cleared and the Sand entrance is there! Let me remind you once again this is the Ritz! That is, in order to get into the sea, you first need to go through an obstacle course - first with a descent and hot sand, and then a labyrinth of stones. The lifeguard was sleeping at the post, there was no soul, there were no more than 20 sunbeds in one line. Sellers walked around and intrusively offered goods. We honestly went to Merriott - there is a wide line and a good entry into the water, several rows of sunbeds.
I’ll write about the hotel later, but the first impression is that there is no hospitality - you run to solve all your problems at the reception (we didn’t have anything in the room for children, that is, they didn’t prepare for guests - bathrobes, slippers, toothpaste - only after asking at the reception, the floor was the room is so dirty that the children again stained their bathrobes - you run to the reception, the mirror in the bathroom fell out at the reception, etc.), the area is green, there is a children's club, I can’t rate it, since we didn’t leave the children there - I didn’t like the smell of the damp room. The breakfasts are varied - I was surprised that there was no freshly squeezed juice for breakfast (or it was very diluted). So far we have tried 2 restaurants out of 7 (Sands - fast service, tasty, not a very large menu (it’s by the pool on the beach), Sofia (Italian restaurant) - I waited more than an hour for my risotto, the menu is more extensive, delicious pizza and the children were satisfied with the Bolognese .
A room with a pool and a large balcony - which is very convenient with children (3109). So far, unambiguous impressions for 1 day!

Come here for the pool, beach and breakfast only! forget about having a nice dinner here, F&B is a joke! All the restaurants here outside of the breakfast at Fresh 8 are playing hard to get, actually you don't have anything else within the hotel! The Sand restaurant and Chinese restaurant are by booking days ahead or they will tell you they are fully booked, even they are only about 30% full! you can take a look yourself if you have the time to wait! I guess they don't care about the business and saving those tables for the high rollers just in case. Walk over to Sheraton or Marriott for dinner without reservation, they are much friendlier and about 50% less than RC anyway!
Tip: book this hotel using Ctrip (use the Chinese site), it's cheaper than the Bonvoy APP, they can careless if you are a member or not anyway... all they care is which room you booked!

We just came back from a 6-day vacation at the Ritz Carlton in Sanya, my family of three. We had a great time down there, the first time that we stayed inside the resort the entire time, no need to go out because it has all one needs on the grounds. Special thanks for the F&B Director Fethil Yucel and his team that never failed to surprise us in our culinary explorations. Especially thanks go also to Elvis from the BBQ who really took care of us as well Ailee & Iris from the Sand restaurant who made sure our anniversary dinner was a great success. Great resort not only for families but also couples or singles, pure relaxation guaranteed. The landscape and setup of the pools are very well done, and kept very well. The rooms are very spacious, next time we go we try getting hold of one of those rooms that havae a direct access to the pool. Also looking forward to see the lounge being rebuild for our next trip, currently the lounge is hosted inside their italian restaurant, but despite this the Lounge rooms are very well worth the deal!

Earlier I had stayed at the RC Sanya which was very disappointing. I wanted to give them another chance and this time they went over and above, well done!
Some quick highlights:
Upgrade to excellent lagoon room with direct access to the pool and view of the ocean
Outstanding food and beverage in the club lounge throughout the stay
Exceptional, and I mean EXCEPTIONAL staff. Full credit to Elaine who runs an efficient team in the Club Lounge. Elaine made the stay extra special and no request was too much. Thanks Elaine! Superb service from Koko whom lent me an oversize float for the swimming pool
Yalong bay in my opinion is the best area in Sanya and the RC Sanya has a combination of location, service and resort feel. It ticks all the boxes
Looking forward to my next stay very soon

We made a reservation for afternoon tea at the Scene for two and travelled for an hour to get there, only to be told just as we were reaching the hotel that the classic afternoon tea set was not available. We asked to speak to a manger/ staff that could sort this out but no one attended to us for at least 15 mins. Finally after many attempts to contact someone via the front desk, we had to get hold of the manager ourselves. At that point we had such a terrible experience already that we decided to leave. We stayed at Ritz in other cities and had no issue with service, but in Sanya, the service was really appalling. Staff didn’t show initiative to rectify the issue, or even attend to us to try and sort the problem. Not sure about the quality of the food, but the terrible service definitely ruined the experience there- there are many other better hotels out in Sanya for afternoon tea to spend on.

The service was fantastic, starting from the beach boys/girls and to the cleaning staff - everyone has been extremely helpful, attentive to our needs and diligent about our water safety. It would have helped if the staff could speak better English, but we were able to communicate just fine without it using Google Translate.
The territory is very well taken care of and full of greenery. The rooms were always clean and comfortable. The two pools were beautiful and very peaceful - it felt like there was barely anyone there, so we were able to have a very calm time by the pool.
Most importantly, we were blown away by one of the hotel staff members - Tatyana! She provided us with a wonderful welcome and was extremely responsive to all our queries. She has also shown exemplary professionalism and empathy all throughout our stay. All in all, she was incredibly friendly, extroverted and helpful - we will miss her very dearly!

Excellent Resort. Airport shuttle bus to this resort by costing CNY 25. A lot of pools were surrounded by tropical gardens. The whole resort looks like a ancient Chinese palace. Marriott titanium members received a room upgrade to a sea view room and late checkout at 4 PM.

Yes it does, they do have a nice and pretty big breakfast buffet. We always picked the nice tables on the balcony, great view and fresh air.
Sorry, just seeing this so a little late to say hot n humid.
Not sure, we where lucky and got an upgrade to the presidential suite.
