Star ratings are intended to indicate the general level of features, amenities, and services to expect. This property is classified according to Giata.
I find that services in general are deteriorating. No outdoor swimming pool (closed), only 1 indoor; no open lounge (closed) and I was given a room directly overlooking the construction site next door (waking up at 6.30am by noise) while the hotel was far from full. Luckily I'm a member!!!. On the other hand food always at the same price!!! No quick laundry service while he's posting it. Swimming pools have been filled with dirt and grass...in short the prices are identical for less services.

Overall this is a very nice hotel and if not for covid it would be better. The spa, cinema, and other restaurants were closed which is a shame.
Pros: Amazing rainfall shower (incredible pressure), very clean and prompt turn down service. Beds are spacious and perfect firmness. English speaking staff was available. Modern spacious rooms and a very nice lobby. The breakfast buffet was quite good for Western tastes, plenty of options to try. The lunch/dinner food was quite good as well. The thai curry, AL burger (amazing), and the nasi goering were crowd pleasers. The pools are good, albeit not very deep. Staff is attentive and helpful.
Cons: On Hotels.com is says they have smoking and non-smoking rooms. Not true, all rooms are NON-smoking. (Which is great but causes confusion when they want to charge you for breakfast) Breakfast buffet is $30 each if not included in your room rate! Lunch/dinner buffet was $75!!! (Not worth it) Cocktails and other alcohol was very overpriced and not made very well. You are better off bringing your own drinks. The beach lacks lounge chairs and umbrellas. The outdoor seating also needs umbrellas. The pillows were too soft for us, but that is a very personal preference. The mini golf is no more then a few putting greens for old men. We wished it was more fun since the area lacks things to do during poor weather.
Overall, this is a great hotel if the weather is good and your food/drinks budget is limitless. Great for a weekend.

I visited the hotel during a vacation in May 2020 with a family member. Overall, the experience was of very high quality, though some services were not in full scale or simply missing due to COVID. My stay occurred a day after the Chinese Labor Day holiday, and a detail was that many services, including lobby bar was available during public holidays, not normal business days. However, I expect this to change as situation gets better.
The room was overall very stylish and utilitarian, and the sea view was simply impeccable. The TV and stereo system in the bed was very high tech and enjoyable. The room was overall clean, above average than other upper scale hotels I’ve been in. Internet was fast and occupied throughout the hotel.
The breakfast of the first day, a public holiday was amazing, especially during COVID, but the second day wasn’t. The normal choices were there, but not of the high quality and the detail touches. During the first night, I tried the a la carte service in the restaurant, as the buffet was not available due to demand. There wasn’t many staff, and the waiting was long. The food was below average for an upper scale hotel at best, especially the dessert, as it was clearly not made from scratch. It wasn’t far off from the Pizza Hut I had the night before. Again, I expect the situation to change by now. A thing to mention was that though the staff did charge my food with Bonvoy prices, there were no points added for this additional payment than the room.
The staff was helpful and friendly. A lady in the front desk kindly set me up with Mobile Jey, though it can be a bit buggy, especially in the lift at times. The gym was pretty small, but did offer a shower. The equipment and services was of high standards, though. The pool wasn’t open by the time of my stay, but I expect it to be opened by now.
Overall, I recommend this recently upgraded Marriott Cat. 4 hotel for a break from the city and everyday routine, as for me, it offered the vacation experience at its best during COVID.

I originally purchased a $999 package online. The package listed the opportunity to upgrade to a deluxe sea view room. When I arrived at the scene, Evan Huang said that he could not arrange a room upgrade, which I can understand because the package also stated that it was subject to the check-in situation on the day. However, I booked a garden view room, and the room I was assigned to was room 7053, which was directly facing an abandoned building. There was no distant view at all, and it could only be said to be a city view room.
I arrived at the front desk and asked Evan Huang to rearrange the room, and asked not to face the abandoned building, but to move back to a room with a real garden view. He showed no expression, no smile at all, and said that only the underground garden view room 1051 was left for me. , I was very surprised when I walked into the room, because this room was located underground but faced the same direction, that is, it also faced the abandoned building! He didn't understand my real request at all. I went to the front desk to reiterate my request. Another female staff member immediately arranged room 3004 on the third floor for me. I was finally able to settle in, which caused me to go back and forth many times! Is there a room with a real garden view that happens to be cleaned within these 5 minutes, or is there always a room with a garden view but not arranged for me? I visually inspected the number of hotel rooms. I didn’t expect that the garden view room I booked early in the morning could not be arranged. I immediately checked the hotel reservation website that day and found that there were also garden view rooms and deluxe sea view rooms available for booking. I don’t know why the arrangement was so poor. !
The most ironic thing is that when I asked for a submission form to express my opinion at the front desk, my colleagues in charge, Evan Huang and Amanda, actually said that there was no submission form for me to fill out. A relatively well-known five-star hotel didn't even have one. It's a bit ridiculous that you couldn't give it to me!
I can only say that the check-in experience was very, very poor, but what is worthy of praise is that the room is very clean and comfortable, and the breakfast is also very rich!

We live in Shenzhen and have been eyeing this hotel for awhile. Finally we decided to pull the trigger after not having gone out almost at all since January. Our first trip since the lockdowns were lifted.
I am a Marriott Titanium member. That was key to this trip being awesome. Since the hotel was only half open during the weekdays, they went above and beyond for the loyalty benefits. We got upgraded to a really nice suite with full sea view, had free full afternoon tea sea which cost rmb 349++ for everyone else and instead of happy hour we could actually order from a small menu so effectively had free dinner too.
We just went here to relax and have a couple of days by the seaside. For that purpose, we loved it. The swimming pool wasn't open (indoor or outdoor) but we didn't really care. The beach is really nice for Southern China, although obviously not as nice as Phuket or somewhere like that. There are activities for kids that you can sign up for (some paid) and lots of resort activities that are also paid per hour.
Overall, we loved this place and will be back. I think that it would be a zoo on the weekends but if you go during the week, it's a nice resort that is pretty chill. Once the pool opens up, will be even better. We will be back for sure!

I had a Chinese friend contact this hotel last Thursday (today is Monday) and ask if people are allowed to have a day pass to use the pool. She was told yes and that there was a charge of 200rmb for the day. I showed up today, Monday, and after scrutinizing my health code information more than they do the locals, calling the manager where I heard the Chinese word for "foreigner" several times, I was told that they had changed their policy yesterday (Sunday). I was not given any more information than that. I feel that this was a case of xenophobia and I hope that foreigners do not choose to use this hotel in the future. I was very upset with the manner in which they handled this. I had a green health code, a green travel code and was in Shenzhen on business but because I was not Chinese, I was treated differently and turned away.

This place does not live up to its standard as a resort, or if anything, as a five star hotel. It don’t even have a sauna, a steam room nor a Jacuzzi. Infinity pool is gone, movie theater is not open, spa is gone, mini golf is limited to executive rooms.
There is nothing to do here and staff is not particularly helpful apart from the engineer who help us to fix up the air con and the non functioning sockets for the kettle. Housekeeping actually ask us to boil water on the bed side table before they were willing to send an engineer in.....
Waiter at breakfast gave us a dirty look because we show up 15mins before the buffet closes, checking his watch and was reluctant to let us in, good thing the waitress just jumped in and help us get a table... we are just planning to get one round anyway and when we left there were still a few tables eating... other places we went to would usually just remind us that they will take the food away soon and ask us to get all we need first, which we usually do.
Overall, I don’t want to come back here, it’s not a great experience and it’s not relaxing at all, sea view is not amazing either with walls on both sides of the balcony.

We booked this hotel for a special occasion and because we wanted to get away from the city and put our feet into some wet sand..
The hotel/resort is tucked away on a fairly remote beach but is new and attractive. We booked a sea view room but the first one was just above the pool and was very loud as it was a summer holiday weekend and many families were there. Martin and Daniel moved us to the other wing (3070) and we had what we hoped for - a partial sea view but green trees, birds and the sound of some small surf.
The Marriott beds and pillows are FANTASTIC! Most comfortable hotel bed I've slept in in years and we stay at many 5-star hotels around the world. We ordered room service twice and the food came quickly and was surprisingly good..The room was large and well appointed with a 4K screen and many amenities.
There is a good bakery with Starbucks coffee in the main lobby but it doesn't open until 1100.
The exercise room is pretty good but very noisy as it is located next to the pool access and lockers and does not have it's own walls. The beach was lovely white sand but being a surfer for many decades it was maddening to be whistled out of the non-cordoned swimming area, which was filled with people and children..There are no waves and no danger anywhere on this beach, but that's China......
A very nice stay and wonderful discussions with the General Manger made it a great weekend for us and we'll be heading back, maybe during the weekdays next time..

Came during a typhoon because I knew it would be empty. Boy was I right. There were only a few other rooms occupied in the hotel which was exactly what I wanted. Highly suggest you come during a weekday for a relaxing place to get rid of the rude people in the city.
Service was really good especially Jenny at the front desk her service was amazing. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of western food - including real orange juice and smoked salmon, two must haves for me.
Gym is nice. Outdoor landscaping is amazing. Beach is kinda small and sucks but not the hotels fault. Good movies on the tv in the room. Slept very well on the comfy bed. I will definitely come back here to escape the nightmare that awaits me in futian.

Our stay at the Marriott Golden Bay was nothing short of bliss. Staff were tentative, rooms were gorgeously luxurious and the pool was clean and perfect for my two small children. We were lucky enough to be able to go on a weekday where the hotel had low occupancy. The hotel manager Celine upgraded us to a sea view room and looked after us throughout the stay. My children had the loveliest time both at the hotel and the serene beach. We will most definitely be back!

From Marriott Golden Bay: Only taxi or private hire.
To reach HKG airport:
- private hire (direct from Marriott to HKG airport: make sure of this when booking. Higher fees)
- ferry: take transporting from Marriott to She Kou pier, take ferry straight to HKG airport (you should be able to check in there)
- public taxi from Marriott to LuoWu. Crossover by foot to HKG. Then taxi to HKG airport.
Hi Sivila,
You can take public transportation E11 to Dapeng downtown (around 1hr) then you can take a didi taxi to come to the hotel (10 mins). Or you can hail a taxi in the port and come directly to our hotel, it takes around 1 to 2 hrs and around 200-300RMB.
Cheers,
Miranda Zheng
