Travelling from Hong Kong we booked a day trip to Shenzhen and Guangzhou in Southern China through Expedia and run through a local tour provider whose name escapes me. Excellent tour which encompassed the following highlights; Guided exploration of Guangzhou's must-see sights Up-close encounter with China's giant panda at Shenzhen Zoo Exhibit of the Qin dynasty's “Terracotta Warriors & Horses” Visits to 6 Banyan Tree Temple & Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall Sumptuous traditional Chinese lunch to sate your appetite The real benefit of this tour was the excellent guides we had throughout. Alex met us at our hotel in HK and accompanied us throughout, seamlessly getting us on our ferry to China and train back to HK, and Albert our local guide in China. Both had excellent English and knowledge and were very organised and pleasant throughout the day. The other benefit of the tour was that all Chinese visas were included in the price and organised by the tour company. The only negative we found from the trip was the "up close and personnel" visit with the pandas. Basically we were driven to Shenzhen Zoo and spent 15 minutes at the panda enclosure. The 2 pandas were asleep in an enclosure behind a glass wall. This was not really an "up close and personnel" experience as advertised, especially as the picture on the tour page showed the pandas in an open environment which indicated a higher level of interaction than we received. This aside, the organisation, the guides, the travel, the food and the other sights were excellent and we had a very enjoyable day and would recommend this tour company.…
Booked this particular 7 Days Inn because it is located in busy Huaqiangbei, Futian, Shenzhen and is around 15-20 minutes away from Yannan Metro Station. Rates are economical for the Economy room, but does not include toothbrush sets as part of their toiletries package (not that I'm complaining since I always have my own set of toiletries whenever I travel). I had a comfortable bed, a feather pillow and a foam pillow waiting for me as I enter the room. I find the two pillows a nice gesture to help guests have better sleep while staying with them. Thumbs up for that! Cleanliness of the room was acceptable, although water from the shower enclosure tends to leak out after every shower. Staff were nice. Courteous even though there was a guest before me that was plain rude to them.
This budget hotel is the best choice if you are going to Huaqiangbei Electronic Market - within a walking distance. They offered Chinese style breakfast - porriage, boiled egg, steam bum and soya milk. Comfortable room and shower. Wifi is OK.
