I had the pleasure of staying at Santa Clara during my week of touring Cambodia. From the moment I arrived, it was a terrific experience with the complimentary airport tuk tuk. The couple who owns the hotel is lively and engaging & we must have...More
Truly extraordinary experience. Best hotel rooms we've ever experienced (and yes, we've stayed at the Ritz & Four Seasons of the world). Excellent location (although Siem Reap is admittedly not a large place), wonderful dining experiences (we took more meals there than we planned, simply...More

The answer depends on the type of holiday that you would be partaking in. If going out to pubs with loud music then staying in town would be convenient. If seeing the temples and culture in the surrounds of Siem Reap is the main objective then staying in a quite haven like Santa Clara is for you. Santa Clara has a beautiful swimming pool and great restaurants with many other restaurants with-in walking distance.
The town is only a short Tuk-Tuk ride or a 25-30 minute walk.

Book direct with the hotel, it saves them having to pay 15% to 25% of the value of your booking to the huge online travel agencies like Expedia and Booking . com . Then the hotel can use this saving to offer you the airport transfer.
This way it gives 100% of your money to the local business, AND you get a free airport transfer. Simple, really :-)
