Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor first opened its doors in 1932, but the legend lives on today, lovingly restored to its glorious splendour. The hotel is rich in Cambodian history and full of original treasures, right down to the original working wood cage elevator in the lobby. With the privilege of over 15 acres of beautifully landscaped French gardens, the hotel is a peaceful oasis to which one can retreat to after exploring the temples of Angkor, only 10 minutes away. Gourmets will delight in a variety of dining options, including the popular Raffles Afternoon Tea and the Apsara Terrace, Siem Reap’s best cultural dance performance and dinner in the poolside gardens.

This is a lovely hotel. Spotless spacious bedroom overlooking a beautiful large pool. There is a good buffet breakfast and choices for evening dinner. Helpful staff who arranged a tuk tuk for visiting Angkor Wat which was an amazing experience! Used the hotel pickup service from the airport. Would stay there again at a heartbeat!

Hotel's Favourite
We have been very fortunate to have been able to travel all around the world and Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor is possible the best hotel at which we have stayed. The grounds are stunning, the pool is devine, the rooms are spacious and elegant and the restaurants unsurpassed. But behind it all, it’s the staff and people of Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor that really make the place special. There is no task too small or too large that they will not undertake to make your stay special. Everyone is friendly, attentive, professional and happy….just the kind of atmosphere that one wants on a vacation. Definitely this will be the only hotel that at which we will stay when we return to Siem Reap.

My wife and I enjoyed the Raffles hotel with a champagne breakfast buffet and an omelet made to order. We stayed in a two-room suite at the ground level with direct access to the swimming pool from our patio. Their restaurant for dinner served traditional Khmer recipes organized into a tasting menu, with a wine pairing. The service level was wonderful and attentive. We will definitely stay again for a longer period of time to relax more, i.e. 7 nights versus our 2 night stay to see the main Angkor Wat sites.

We were on a tour of Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam and stayed at some great hotels (including The Peninsula in Bangkok, The Reverie in Ho Chi Minh City and The Metropole in Hanoi) and this hotel was our favorite. Not only did it have a lot of charm (we really liked the Elephant Bar), but it was spotless. The staff also was top notch. One hotel employee (a doorman, I think) took us around and showed us the various restaurants, after he found us wandering around the lobby, trying to figure out if we were going to stay in the hotel for dinner. The food, by the way, was uniformly excellent.

I am writing this review on the last day of our 12 day holiday at Raffles Siem Reap. I think if I say that we don’t want to leave you can guess how much we have enjoyed staying at this historic hotel. We are lucky enough to have stayed at some of the world’s best luxury hotels, but Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor is our “Number 1”. Our stay has been faultless - not one single complaint. Everything has been perfect- from the concierge’s help in arranging our trip ( Yaly was excellent and very patient with our numerous requests), to the most amazing welcome we were given, to the fact that you feel you have stepped back into a gracious and elegant era, to the Raffles King Suite which was luxurious and spacious and only steps away from the largest swimming pool I have ever seen (modelled on the pool near Angkor Wat), to the amazing Khmer food at 1932, to the fabulous breakfast buffets with everything you could ever want, to the wonderful pianist who “tinkles the ivories” each evening in the Conservatory, the list goes on. But most of all it is the service. The service is impeccable and the team are so friendly. Everyone knows your name and your preferences. Everyone is smiling. When you return from sightseeing you are greeted like family returning home. And it has felt like our home in Siem Reap for nearly 2 weeks. We have enjoyed it so much we are coming back in December for another 2 weeks! My recommendation to anyone visiting Cambodia is don’t rush your trip to Siem Reap. There is more to this town than being near the amazing Angkor temples. Raffles ( and Siem Reap) are destinations in their own right. The list of things we have still not seen is longer than the list of things we have. Throughout our stay we were escorted around on a tuk-tuk by the amazing ViChet (tuk-tuk Number 12). Such a wonderful gentlemen. So very knowledgeable and kind.

We stayed at the Raffles Siemreap, a hotel of great refinement, at 11, in order to live a privileged family moment, and it was my most memorable experience. The staff is exceptional, because obviously the sense of service and the permanent smile is part of their DNA. Everything is refinement, efficiency, non-flashy luxury that breathes the history of the hotel. The hotel historian gave us an incredible welcome that touched us a lot. At breakfast, some very attentive waiters even anticipated our requests. In short, everything was perfect.

Without doubt, the finest hotel I have ever had the honour of staying in. It reeks of a colonial past when Europeans on the “tour” would demand the modern luxuries of home. The hotel is in downtown Siem Reap, the second largest city in Cambodia famous for the old city of Ankor and the most famous temple Ankor Wat. You cannot help reflect on the opulence of Raffles juxtaposed against a country ravaged by war and left as one of the poorest in the world. Having said that, with 80% of its people growing rice, rests in tourism and the wonders of the country. The hotel is amazing. Opulent and very expensive. A nights stay here will cost you well over 3 months wages for the average person. Everything is impeccable, the service is discreet and attentive, drinks superb (the cocktails are fantastic!), rooms very spacious and equipped with everything and the pool is the biggest in the city and stunning. Grab a tuk tuk from the hotel to take you round all the sights. Very cheap and good to get your dollars into locals hands. Cambodia is rife with corruption, so be wary of any corporate entity - many will be dreaming off profits with little left for those you actually see. Get yourself to pub street about 1km along the river - a pleasant walk. Watch the locals take evening exercise and savour the street food stalls serving up dishes for a few $s. A local beer will cost you less than a $ in town and a couple will get an amazing meal and drinks with change from 15$. Strongly recommend getting a flight to Pnom Phen and seeing the capital. Tuk tuk to airport is 6$!

We stayed here in November and it was perfect. All of the staff were attentive in ensuring we had an excellent stay. The room was clean and comfortable. Food was of a high standard with the service being excellent. When we went to eat out and it was raining umbrellas were quickly produced and the doorman was anxious to make sure our tuktuk driver knew where we were going and how much we should pay! They are very proud of their lift which was retained when the hotel was recently refurbished - many famous people have used it including Charlie Chaplin! Great hotel with a brilliant service ethic. Highly recommended.
