Excellent and keep it up . Stay was good. Room ambience was good. The staff were friendly. The food at Cantina was mostly good. It's at a good location as well with other Indian restaurants around. The interiors are great with a semi-traditional and semi-modern look.

This is a modern comfortable hotel located in the Bur district (central) of Dubai. All the staff are very helpful and keen to please. The hotel is kept very clean by the excellent cleaning staff. However the hotel is showing it age in some areas and we saw some redecoration ongoing in some areas. There is onsite free car parking under the hotel, which is very useful. Most of the rooms face either side of the hotel and have limited views, the better views are in the front, we had room 508, which offered great views over Dubai, I recommend a room higher up with a low number to get the views and reduced traffic noise. Rooms are large and have; large beds, kettle, tea, coffee, irons, ironing board, air conditioning, free bottled water, TV, good WiFi, fridge, safe, slippers, dressing robes, toiletries, shower in bath, basin, bidet and WC. Plenty of power sockets, UK standard sockets are mainly used although our room had one European two pin socket as well. We thought that the shower pressure was weak and the head was fixed. Most of the guests seem to originate from the Indian sub continent. As a result breakfast is served in two locations, one serving Indian food and one smaller dining room serving International food. If you are obviously European and try to enter the Indian breakfast you are warned that Indian food is served, looked interesting but we didn’t try it. We had sufficient Indian food outside the hotel! The International breakfast offerings changed daily and were generally good and very varied, you could order fried eggs and plain omelettes, vegetable omelettes were available every day. Coffee is dispensed from a bean to cup machine and is not my favourite, it is slow to deliver and not very good. I prefer filter coffee in large pots regularly made with accompanying hot and cold milk. There are a number of bars, restaurants and night clubs. We used the Sports bar for a couple of drinks and a club sandwich, the large half a litre, Hoogarten, but at 50 aed a tad expensive (£12). We visited the roof top bar, but it had no views and had private seating area with curtains, looked a bit seedy and empty, when we visited. We also looked at one of the other bars which was had an outside area and was very busy, but few if any women, so my wife was a little uncomfortable. We didn’t try most of the bars, nor the restaurants and clubs, some of which we think were shut. We avoided the Russian night club in the bottom basement. In summary there are bars, restaurants and clubs to suit most tastes. The hotel has a small pool on the roof with sunbeds with umbrellas, the umbrellas have seen better days, but still functional. The pool area has a life guard who controls the pool towels. Pool towels are not supposed to be used on the beach, but after a little negotiation we managed to get this rule bent thanks to the very helpful reception staff. We used a beach regularly. The pool was positively warm at 34c, in mid Feb, the sea was about 22c at our favourite beach. The hotel provides shuttles to the beach and shopping mall, we didn’t use these as we had a hire car. The hotel is located fairly close to the historic area of Dubai, which is walkable or a 12 aed (£2.7) taxi ride away. This area is where the old museum is and the creek which you cross to the old gold souk (market). This area should be on any visitor’s itinerary. There are a number of inexpensive restaurants nearby and we used the Antar, part of a local chain, restaurant, which was about 10 mins walk away. It has a good range of inexpensive food. In common with all these types of restaurants no alcohol is served. Most restaurants and bars serving alcohol have to be part of a hotel. We bring our own gin for gin and tonic and wine to accompany meals in the room in our hold luggage. Duty free can also be bought at the airport when arriving in Dubai, buying bottles of alcohol is not easy in local shops as few sell alcohol and you need a visitor’s licence to make a purchase, which I am told is easier more recently. On this visit we found the traffic very bad and much worse than we had previously encountered, although this was not made any better by major road works close to the hotel. Visitors might want to use the metro, we have previously, but it is not extensive enough to visit many locations without a longish walk at either end. There is a bus network, but we have never mastered it. Beaches tend to disappear and appear, this because the Government is allowing more ‘islands’ and off shore development. Unfortunately one of my favourite beaches has long gone. We now have a new favourite beach, it has free on street parking, toilets, showers, disabled facilities including buggies and a ramp into the water and life guards. This year we find that it has sun beds and umbrellas added, generally these are not cheap in Dubai, but these ones have been reserved exclusively for disabled (people of determination is the local term) and the elderly. In this case it is anyone over 60! Security guard comes and checks your age, bring your passport or driving license to prove your age. This beach is open 24/7 and floodlit at night for night swimming. The only downside was that they, about 4 or 5 workmen, clean the ramp daily, to remove any sea weed and algae that can make the ramp slippery, with a pressure washer powered by a petrol generator, this takes several hours, so typically this means that the ramp is not open until midday or later and has the associated noise distraction. At the time of writing the ramp was closed and a wheel chair user arrived to find it still shut and the workmen have stopped for lunch. This was the first time we have seen any disabled use the facility. Subsequently it opened a couple of Serbian military veteran double amputees used it to great effect. Overall we liked this hotel and can strongly recommend it.

NOTHING IS GRAND about this one. Stayed for 5 Nights. 10th Feb till 15th Feb. I do understand that every country is Different & Hotels in these Countries act on their own Rules & Regulations. BUT, who the Hell Asks 15 Dirham for empty bowls & Glasses ?. As per Dubai Hotels, Many of them charge for Extra Water bottles (Not All In Bur Dubai Area Though, Holiday in Didn't charge, neither Royal Ascot asked extra for water bottles, My Family & Friends have Stayed in these two in the Past). I asked the house keeping Department to give an empty bowl & couple of Glasses. and they Bluntly replied that "We will Charge 15 Dirhams for Bowl & 15 for Glasses", I laughed over the phone and said, "Don't wanna Purchase brother" Just wanna use. So he gave me a Generous Discount of 15 Dirhams for Glasses. But Still Asked 15 for Bowl. (A Bloody Empty Bowl to Borrow for 1-2 Hours for 15 Dirhams). Rooms were not Cleaned Properly. My wife had to ask for Bathroom Napkin AFTER Room was Cleaned. We Rented 2 Rooms and Both had little Cockroaches in bathrooms. I GUESS this Hotel is always busy with Indian Guests and they take them for Granted. During our Stay, As there was a Swaminarayan Temple Function in Abu Dhabi, Most of the Hotel was Full with Indian Guests. I Believe Many of those Guests had same Experience like me During this Busy Season in Dubai/Abu Dhabi. This Hotel REALLY REALLY Need to Improve the service and behavior with the Guests. I have a Feeling that, when this hotel has so many Good Reviews, They must be from other country Guests and from off Season. I WOULD NEVER SUGGEST ANY ONE GOING HERE SPECIALLY IN BUSY SEASON.
