The family were friendly and check-in was quick and easy. They even give you a bottle of their wine! The apartment is modern, very spacious, has all the amenities needed and also a large balcony. The air conditioning is strong and cools the place down quickly.

The location is good but be prepared that although it is located only about 10-15 minute walk from the old town, it’s about 400 stairs away. That’s 400 easy steps down and 400 steps back up. Honestly though, it’s not that bad and the steps themselves are shallow. An Uber or taxi is only a few euros if you find the steps too difficult.

Be careful if arriving by car because if you drive past then you can’t turn around straight away. There is a gate that they need to open for you so call when you are there or a couple minutes away. I’d recommend to leave the car and walk most places, otherwise you need someone to open the gate when you want to come and go.

There is a shop just down the road that is open until around 9pm. There are plenty of restaurants outside of the old town that are easily reached as well.

We didn’t use the pool or spend much time but there was a nice outdoor space.

This is a great choice if you are driving and don’t mind a short walk to attractions!

Fantastic view of the city and the sea from the bedroom, very comfortable apartment with balcony, walking distance to the historical center of Dubrovnik, local liquor free to sample in the room, private free parking - it was just what we needed. A gift of a bottle of the owner family's wine went beyond our expectations. All of the above for a really decent price.

Loved these apartments. We stayed in a 2 bed as 2 couples. Very spacious with good facilities. Comfortable beds, good showers. Great air conditioning. Greeted on arrival by a friendly lady who directed us into the small car park. She gave us some info about Dubrovnik and took us to check in. We were given a bottle of their lovely red wine as a welcome gift. The location is up lots of hills and steps from the old town. Which we didn’t mind as like to walk. Maybe not so good if mobility issues. The swimming pool is a nice addition, it is a little too high in Chlorine ( I have my own so I’m used to managing the chemicals). At one point during our stay we had an issue with ants in a kitchen cupboard. Don’t leave any open food items as this should avoid it. We cleared them out and that seemed to sort it.
I’d recommend these apartments for a home from home whilst visiting beautiful Dubrovnik.

I must start by saying that I almost gave Villa Ankora 4* as the service and the staff were excellent, friendly helpful and the owner even drove us to the bus station on check out. Sadly, I had to rate this place 3* on the basis of the room itself, as that is ultimately what we paid for.

I found Villa Ankora online and was impressed with its high rating and location to the old town. Like many others have said, it is located on a hill, but the walk to the old town is literally just 5 minutes straight down a load of steps. It is quite challenging walking back up, but we didn't mind this at all. It wouldn't be suitable for someone who has difficulty walking.

When booking, I chose a room entitled 'studio apartment with sea view', the first picture of the advertised room is a terrace with some deckchairs and seating. I thought this looked great and I selected the room. If I had know this terrace is not part of the room or even next to it, I would have chosen another room with a balcony. This being the first image of the room was in my opinion very misleading. The terrace is actually a public terrace at the side of the house next to where everyone parks their cars, so not private at all. It was a shame as we were on our honeymoon so we weren't scrimping and a balcony would have been nice. We did ask if we could move but they were fully booked.

The studio itself was modern and clean, you can see the sea but only by looking out of the side windows. The other window looks out onto the road and despite being on the first floor is eye level with the pavement so we had to have that blind closed most of the time. Whilst the apartment was bright and modern looking, there were a few things that for us meant it didnt live up to its four star rating- the coathangers were all bent and impossible to put clothes on, the shower head was broken (this was fixed for us upon request), the rooms were supposed to be cleaned every 2 days but when we came back on second day nothing had been touched just a couple of new towels put on our unmade bed. I put my suitcase on top of the wardrobe and when I brought it back down it was covered in dust. They are all small things but in my opinion also things which make this place a 3* rather than a 4*.

It does sadden me to leave this review as we did really like the family and the homemade bottle of wine on arrival was delcious and a nice touch but I do think they need to change their advertising of the room we stayed in and also think a bit more about the smaller touches.

We booked the 2 bedroom apartment because the photo showed a terrace with a sea view. NO Seaview.
Over 700 steps to old town and back again!

And as per another reviewer the shower tap fell off - water everywhere and the wall fixture for the shower was non existent.
Having said this, the apartment was clean and had everything.

We loved our stay at Villa Ankora. We booked into an apartment on the first floor, which was absolutely huge with a big balcony giving perfect views over to the sea and the Old Town. The apartment itself was just as stunning as in the photos, which doesn't often happen!
We found the apartment to be great value (probably down to our pre-peak season trip in April) and the stairs into town weren't a problem for us (it helped offset the delicious food we ate!), but I know they might be an issue for others.
We booked an apartment so we could save some money and cook some meals in, but be aware that if you haven't hired a car to travel further afield, the supermarket offerings aren't great in Dubrovnik as it's such a touristy city. We managed to find some relatively inexpensive options just outside the Old Town walls, though.
We would 100% recommend Villa Ankora - the service, the views, the location, everything!

We stayed at Villa Ankora at the end of April 2018. The weather was amazing but because it was the shoulder season there were no crowds and the old town was really pleasant. It's an easy walk down but we counted 364 steps back up, so needed to take it steady in the heat. Our room had a lovely balcony which caught the afternoon and evening sun. The family were very friendly and their English was good. The apartment was immaculate, had all the essential items for self catering and was great value for money. I accidentally left a brand new pair of shorts in the back of Ivica's car when I got to the airport and he very kindly sent them to me in the post at no additional cost. A truly memorable stay in a superb apartment.

We loved Villa Ankora! While we were only able to stay here for two nights, this was a great deal for the price. Not only did we love Villa Ankora, but I cannot say enough great things about Dubrovnik. Such an incredible place. Villa Ankora is about a 5-10 minute walk to the Old City, and close to many small markets and cafes, making it the perfect location for us. The room was updated and included a kitchenette. The views from the room overlooking the ocean and the Old City were absolutely spectacular. The gentleman who checked us in was helpful and friendly, providing us tips and was flexible with our leave time. For the price and location you cannot go wrong with Villa Ankora. I highly recommend a stay if you are in the area.

We loved staying at Villa Ankora! The room itself was very large, had every amenity we needed, and came with a large balcony and a stunning view of old town and the ocean. We stayed for 4 nights so it was really nice to have a fully equipped kitchen. The doors to the balcony slide all the way open so you really feel like the whole apartment is open to the outside, which is so nice when its warm out and the sun is shining. They also have a nice pool for the guests and parking spots (tiny) if you are renting a car.

A few things I will warn people about, but I don't feel that these things at all affected our trip in a negative way: It was a bit difficult checking in. The rooms are in a building all together, but to check in you must go to a door that is a few steps down from the apartments and ring the doorbell. These instructions were given to me but I had forgotten about them and didn't have internet access to figure out who to contact. There are MANY stairs to get to and from Old Town. We didn't mind this, but we may have felt differently had we gone during a hotter time of year. This would not be an ideal place if you are injured or not physically fit enough to make the trek.

All in all we really like this place. We felt it was very luxurious for the price and you can't beat the view from the balcony. It was the ideal place to relax after a busy day. If we return to Dubrovnik we would stay here again.
