The facility itself is beautiful. Great design with nice buildings with an antique feel, lovely garden, and nice swimming area in the far corner. The rooms are fine. Spacious with excellent shower/bath with working hot water. TV worked fine and upstairs rooms have a nice balconey overlooking the grounds. The restaurant has a limited menu, but the meals are safe and good tasting. The staff is friendly but not as efficient as most Western tourists expect. The main liability is its distance from central Antigua, but we had to stay here due to the vast number of tourists during Easter week. (We did have a procession pass by our first night, however)
Stayed two nights. Room smelled like old, wood furniture. I even had freshener and it didn’t help. I constantly had the windows open which was an inconvenience as anyone walking by could look in. Beds were comfortable and outlets right behind each bed! Basic bathroom; no toiletries. You must ask for room cleaning. Breakfast only has two options: pancakes or eggs w beans. You can walk to town center but it’s scary to walk at night. Not sure this was a real pool; seemed more for decoration. Great Italian restaurant next door and small store at corner for snacks.
This hotel is beautifully laid out aroun a Central garden and small pool The rooms were very good and the service was helpful and friendly Breakfasts were excellent but let down when a buffet repacked table service, although you could still order particular items if you insisted About 20-25 ins walk to the centre of town
I recently stayed at the Villa Colonial Hotel during a work conference. This colonial style hotel is very well taken care of. The rooms are nice and clean, the bathrooms are comfortable and the ambiance overall is great. The food is good although the restaurant could benefit from offering more choices. My stay overall was very enjoyable.
The hotel is medium size and they made a big effort to give you the feel of a Colonial town, it just doesn't feel very authentic. It's at a walkable distance from the central park (about 9 blocks). Food is good, coffee is great, most of the staff is friendly, however the front desk people were a bit cold and will not make eye contact. The bathroom design is not very smart, there is a step after you open the door and the light switch is beyond the step, so you can easily trip on it in the dark. The shower has a partial wall and that's it, so water gets all over the floor making it very slippery. The pool is pretty and a good size, with warmish water. The little Plaza area is gorgeous and the garden is very well taken care of.
What a nice place for a stay! Great restaurant, good food. Beautiful views of a volcano from a very comfortable balcony off the restaurant. Wonderful service and really good staff herding a bunch of people around. The gardens are beautiful and extensive. Lots of seating areas in with the flowers. The colors are so bright through out you almost need sunglasses. If I have one complaint it's the same complaint I have when I travel and use hotels. The showers need a handrail or a grip of sometype as you move from wet to dry and vice versa..
The building is nice and staff friendly The room we had was facing the patio and therefore quiet We had breakfast and dinner there and the food was verry good Since it was buffet there was a big food veriaty of food including local food The only disadvantage we found was deposit boxes in the room and not enough near the reception. Pool is verry small
This rustic, quaint hotel is very special! Our room was clean and one of the quietest I’ve been ever had. The staff has been extremely attentive and the restaurant serves excellent food. We enjoyed the garden and the pool. Very nice. It was also a great location really walkable to important places.
lovely lovely hotel with the right kind of atmosphere you are looking for. lovely decoration, spacious room, spacious dining room, spacious courtyard with lots of flowers, swimming pool, fountain and a great view of volcano Fuego. the hotel lay out imitate lay out of Antigua street which i very nice. i was there at Jan. so did not feel the need for AC. the staff was obliging and helpful. altogether a very nice experience.
Having been in Antigua several times, I had not known of this hotel and found it very pleasant to be in a very quiet part of town. Although a bit removed from down town, it is a very well run, charming place with that Spanish architecture that fits right in.We were a Wilderness Travel group that used several parts of the facility, all of which worked well. The only issue is the location-about four blocks from the hustle and bustle.
