As recommended by my guide, I feel the cost of my stay was well worth it. It's a bit of a walk from the city center (far NE corner of the area where most tourists roam), but definitely not an issue. Christian and his staff were very accommodating and a pleasure to talk to. Since part of the hotel is set up like a hostel, there is no shortage of conversation in the outside common area with interesting guests. I enjoyed watching a local artist paint wall murals near the bunk rooms. There's also a beautiful garden near the private rooms, and you can catch a nap outside easily if so inclined. My only issue was I had a bit of trouble keeping warm in the room at night, and would say that the rooms might not be as well insulated as you would expect when the temperature gets down below 60 degrees, so something to keep in mind.

Hello....I am in Antigua, Guatemala quite frequently. For about 5 months I stayed at Hostal Antigueno almost continually except some trips back to US. If I want to I could stay at hundreds of other places. **My time in the relaxed setting with the ability to meet and interact if I wanted to with other wonderful respectful travellers from at least 16 other countries and more US people from other states than I actually meet while in US. ***The owners and staff make a great clean natural environment where you can have all your own privacy or enjoy time with some other guests....... ***It would be hard to find anywhere else to stay in Antigua where you could have such a wonderful time...Real people who are actually from all over the world in person.

I highly recommend Hostal Antigueno for the nice environment, helpful staff, quiet location, and overall very comfortable living. We really enjoyed our 4-week stay here. We had a private room with two comfortable beds, a good size bathroom, and we always had hot showers. We spent a lot of time outside in the patio area which was always a nice environment with relaxing music playing and comfortable places to sit. The owners, Christian and Iris, were extremely kind and helpful - they booked several shuttles for us and helped organize some weekend trips. The rest of the staff, especially Wendy and Christian, were also very nice and helpful, and we enjoyed talking with everyone (and they were patient as we practiced Spanish with them!).

I've been lucky enough to have stayed at Antigueño about 15 times over the last three years through work, staying here with group tours and trips. The location is idyllic and quiet, yet not more than 10 minutes walk from the central square. The rooms are spotless, clean and comfortable. All the staff, from Christian and Iris (the owners) to Doña Carmen and Luca the dog are super friendly and happy to go out of their way to help. Can't recommend it enough!
