We are a small hotel, located at quiet southeast part of Antigua located just a few minutes from the famous San Francisco Church, where Saint Hermano Pedro rests. At "Hostal San Nicolas" you can enjoy a unique atmosphere. We only have four comfortable rooms and a staff that will treat you as family. Hostal San Nicolas is a 5 minute walk to Central Plaza it is close enough to allow you to explore the main tourist spots but also enjoy the ambience of the local streets and people. Has a lovely sitting room with fireplace, gorgeous courtyard, you can spend the day enjoying the garden courtyard before joining a tour or leave for your meeting.

This hostal is very low-key and in a wonderful location. Easy to walk all around Antigua from here. The ladies who work at the front desk were the sweetest. They made sure everything was well taken care of, including the guests and their safety. We loved that aspect as it was our first visit to Antigua and we weren't quite sure what to expect. Overall this was a quiet neighborhood as well. When we left, I wanted to give the front desk ladies (who were extremely hard workers) a hug - they made our stay that great! My boyfriend and I were here for a wedding. The location is great, rooms and grounds are extremely clean and well-maintained, and the staff was excellent. Very safe. Beautiful place! Would definitely return!

Small (only 4 rooms) quiet hotel. Located across the street from Hermano San Pedro Cathedral. Attentive staff, Anna, has been very helpful. Has all the modern conveniences, hot water, internet, and is classic colonial building. Excellent breakfast in a formal dining room. Easy walk to the central park.

My wife and I booked a room at the Hostal San Nicolas for a one-night return to Antigua after traveling throughout Guatemala. Unfortunately, our Friday evening flight from Flores (near Tikal) was cancelled, and we couldn't fly back until Saturday morning. Thus, we had no chance to make it for our Friday night stay at San Nicolas. Knowing that our reservation was nonrefundable, I relayed our situation to the staff as soon as soon as I new it, early Friday afternoon, so hopefully they could rent the room to someone else (and see fit to give us a refund). Within a few hours, they agreed to give us a 50 percent refund. That seemed like a square deal to us. They said that since it was Friday, it would take a few days to enact the refund. Lo and behold, a week or so later, the hotel emailed me to say the refund was initiated on their end. Could I check things on my end? And yes, my credit card online transactions showed the refund. This hotel looks like a very nice place to stay, and based on that great level of customer service, I expect it would be a trustworthy place to stay, as well. If and when we return to Antigua, we will look to make a reservation here.

Nice small and peaceful, a nice little garden makes it the perfect spot. You are getting a hotel service with a family touch. Do not expect the big breakfast buffet- you sit around a table with other guests and get the food you choose on a plate.

I just took a quick spur of the moment trip to Guatemala. I ended up at Hotel San Nicolas for three nights. I booked through the internet at the airport, but when I arrived my reservation had not gone through. The desk person, Anna, gave me the room at the advertised rate and helped with all the details of taking a volcano tour, where to eat, and booked several shuttle rides for me. This was the same with the other staff members. They were a huge help to someone with very limited Spanish. The room was what I expected. Clean and comfortable. The outside temps were very comfortable, which is good as there is not climate control in the room. This is common at hotels here, but something you should know if you are American and expect every room to have AC/heat. The only other thing I would mention was the room was advertised with a hot tub. Which is not exactly wrong, but not what most Americans would expect. It is a regular bathtub with jets not a big Jacuzzi for several people. The water was hot and always available. It was not one of the electric (suicide showers) that are also common in the area. The small central garden in the center of the property is beautiful and peaceful, I could see someone spend time there if their main goal was to relax and de-stress The hotel is a bit of a walk to the main square. This let's it be quiet, but if walking is an issue for you, you may want to stay closer. I did feel very safe walking the streets even late at night. I would stay here again, as I thought the value for the price was good.
