We stayed in room 6 on the second floor on the front of the hotel for three nights in early February. The room was HUGE! We had our own little balcony that overlooked the plaza. It's a busy street, but people watching from the balcony was interesting. The traffic noise can get a little loud late at night when the rooftop bar/club is open, but the hotel supplies ear plugs (we didn't need to use them). The bed and pillows were both really comfortable.
We had breakfast at the Tantalo Kitchen every morning, and the food was excellent! The Tantalo Lover's Sandwich was AMAZING (I had it every morning), and my wife enjoyed alternating between the acai bowl and the pancakes, which were both delicious. The prices were reasonable.
The staff was very friendly and incredibly helpful when we asked about booking a local tour. The bathrooms just past the bar were so unique that people seemed to come in from the street just to check them out. The art throughout the hotel - including the lampshades made from bottle caps in the restaurant area - was really cool, and we noticed new things every day.
Be aware that the rooftop bar/club is a hopping place on weekend nights, so you'll likely feel the bass in your room between midnight and 4 a.m. If you're a really light sleeper, this may not be the hotel for you, but the location in Casco Viejo is great and we always felt totally safe.

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, especially Nashda. The location can't be beat for staying in the old town and the nighttime view from their rooftop bar is fantastic. Although the bar is noisy, it really didn't bother me and I'm usually a light sleeper and they provided earplugs just in case. Added touches were interesting and colorful murals plus a funky elevator that was fun. Another huge bonus was the restaurant on property which was very good and reasonably priced.

We stayed for 2 nights. Positives: clean room, cool decor in the room; cool rooftop bar with views all around.
A huge negative: extremely loud late at night both nights. You know it's bad when the hotel gives every guest, unasked, ear plugs when they check in. The ear plugs were completely useless in blocking sound. At the end of the evening it got even louder. The sound of ever-louder recorded guitar chords that signaled the end of the evening felt it was coming from directly over the bed. You can also hear everything that goes on at the bar and restaurant below because it's all open.
More negatives: the entire check-in process. We had asked in advance for early check-in, if possible, and the hotel staff had said sure. Arriving after 18 hours of travel, we were hoping we might be able to check in a bit early. The hotel said go have lunch and come back. We ate at the hotel, so we'd be nearby. After lunch we asked again. Oh about 15 minutes. We walked around nearby. Oh, about 30 minutes. We made another loop of the neighbourhood. This kept on, until we had used up the last bit of energy and just sat at a table between the front desk and the edge of the restaurant. We finally checked in about an hour late. No empathy, no nothing.
While we were waiting, the hotel had held onto our luggage. Maybe this is a cultural thing, but our idea of "holding luggage" is to put it in a separate room, ideally locked. Luggage belonging to us and other guests was lined up on the floor at the front of the bar, beside and behind the front desk, accessible to everyone who walks up. What made it worse, the hotel has a living wall of plants behind the front desk. They watered the plants and the dirty water dripped all over our luggage, soaking through my backpack and staining some of my clothes.
Another beware: if you're thinking of booking the "deluxe" room, be aware that it's not much larger and you get NOTHING additional. Our friends were in a standard room so we could compare. We hadn't actually wanted the deluxe room, and wow was it not worth the extra!

But let's talk about that rooftop bar – the views are epic, but the noise? Yeah, it's like a rock concert that never ends! We know earplugs won't cut it when the music is shaking the walls. I loved my weekend stay at Tantalo, all of the staff were extremely helpful and friendly from check in through to check out and the food is amazing! I ate from both the morning and evening menus and both meals were outstanding, really generous portions, great quality and reasonably priced. Although I think the rooftop wasn't officially open the day I left they let me have brunch there and at night I think it's probably the best place to be in Casco Viejo, great cocktails, again reasonably priced and delicious. The music is loud and goes on until late but the whole atmosphere in the hotel is great and as long as you're aware before you check in that shouldn't be too much of an issue. If that might bother you then it might be worth bringing earplugs, especially if you're staying at the weekend. This really wasn't an issue for my stay though and I hope to be able to return to Panama and to this ideally located and beautifully designed hotel in the Casco Viejo in the future. We booked a room for 3 people and payed in advance. On the day we checked in they asked us for a surplus of 60$ for the 3rd person although we already payed the full price at the reception the day we booked the room. After a small discussion the additional fee was dropped. Besides this misunderstanding, our room was quite big: it had a double bed and a sofa bed (which was not made - after asking for some sheets somebody finally came). The hotel is nicely located in the casco viejo and has a friendly staff. At night it can get quite loud because of the rooftop bar. The restaurant is definitely the best part! The food is delicious and very fresh! We came here almost everyday of our stay in Panama City. We will be eating here until our departure :)

This is a great place for a drink or a meal in Casco Viejo. It's got a hipster vibe, but the staff has always been welcoming to us, a couple in our sixties. Drinks are reasonably priced, and the fusion menu is interesting, tasty, and for Casco Viejo also reasonably priced. The restaurant downstairs is bustling, especially at lunch time, and the rooftop bar has great views over the old city and the towers of the new part of the city.

Great location for tourists like us Staff are really friendly and so helpful and speak English well The rooms are spacious and clean. Bed was super comfortable and the shower and water pressure is great ( it’s the little things)
Tantalo is famous for its rooftop bar so if your a light sleeper or not here to party till 2am get a room on a lower floor.
The restaurant is also great. The menu offers something for everyone and the food is some of the best we’ve had in South America.

The hotel is very active with spectacular decoration, the room they offered us was the purple king. The entire staff was extremely friendly and always willing to help with any questions. The location is ideal and it is very easy to have a good time with the other guests, they have a rooftop to end the night with a good atmosphere.
