Our experience was amazing! We went to celebrate my daughter's birthday and our anniversary! We were treated like royalty. The staff was out of this world.They were always checking to see if we needed anything and for that big thank you ! The chefs are the best and the waiters topnotch. Just the tours and activities, we booked them with TAMARA +50763242898 that also was very attentive and everything we visited was awesome. Are we thinking of going back? For sure!

I had a great stay at the JW Marriott Panama! The pool is the best part, but also the food was amazing. I recommend the Sexy Mule cocktail and ceviches. Rooms were clean, spacious. Super friendly and accommodating staff!

STAY AWAY! I experienced the worst discrimination by the night security simply because of the color of my skin. I advise any Black Indigenous Person of Color to be cautious of the JW Marriott Panama and their nightly security team if you arrive to the hotel after 10pm. I am an 🇺🇸 executive who travels globally and is very loyal to Marriott. I seldom experience any discrimination at hotels, but on Friday night 4/28/2023 after coming back from dinner three security guards stopped me in the lobby despite me showing them my room key and harassed me to verify if I was a guest. When I got off the elevator at the SL Lobby floor another white couple had just walked ahead of me and the security did not stop them or ask any questions to inquire if they were guests of the hotel. Three security guards who were standing behind the bar immediately approached me after exiting the elevator to the lobby floor and surrounded me harassing me in Español with a list of all hotel guest attempting to block me from using my key to access the main elevator’s to get to my room 3420. I explained to them my name and room # in both Español & English, they replied they don’t speak English. After yelling for a manager who speaks English, they finally let me go when the manager appeared and confirmed I was a guest. I have previously stayed at this hotel over 17 times since it’s inaugural opening in 2011 under the previous Trump brand. I have never felt any discrimination, bias, or prejudice by the hotel staff previously. However under the new JW Marriott banner, the current security team is clearly targeting and harassing people of color to verify if they are indeed guests of the hotel. When I explained what happened the next morning to management, they were not shocked and asked me if I remembered the names of the security. I told them to check the cameras from the night before because they know who they employ at their hotel. After watching the camera footage the hotel tried to erase the discrimination I experienced by sending me a bottle of champagne and fruit the next day with a note apologizing for what happened (see attached photos). I was so distraught and dismayed I couldn’t muster the energy to leave my room the next night out of fear of retaliation by the security team. I rejected the letter & offer because no gift can erase a poorly trained security team who subjectively targets people of color with unconscious bias, prejudice, and overt discrimination. I am sharing what occurred to warn any future guests who happen to be people of color, and I also sent an e-mail to a business school classmate who happens to be an executive at Marriott International in Bethesda, Maryland 🇺🇸 I’m sorry to say I will not be returning to this property. 😔…

This JW did not disappoint. Great views; very nice room with terrace; casino; rooftop bar was AMAZING; food was good; neat little convenience type store with some groceries on the premises. The best part was the infinity pool. LOVED having mimosas while at the pool overlooking the ocean. Hard to beat that experience.

We stayed at the JW Marriott for four nights. On arrival we were shown to a room with an unsatisfactory bathroom, the toilet was part of the room and was boxed in by glass panels. We didn’t find this acceptable, it is probably acceptable for single occupancy. We were told there were no alternatives but the luggage porter informed us that there were, so I persevered and was shown three different types of room. We found one room acceptable and were told that it was classed as a suite( not really a suite by our standards as there was no separate living area just a balcony,a sofa in the bedroom and a partition part wall in front of the bathroom area..We were told it would cost $75 a night more. We moved in and after a while discovered that the toilet flushing mechanism was broken. We reported it but it was not mended promptly and in order to flush the toilet we had to lift the cistern lid put our hands in the water and pull a lever. Disgusting.We reported it again the following morning to the duty manager and he waived the 75$ for the first night and it was finally repaired.We hadn’t slept well and I thought that the bed was damp but dismissed this idea as I thought it just the result of a humid climate. Subsequent nights were similar and on the morning of our departure I decided to look at the mattress. I was sickened as it was covered in brown stains. This is a five star establishment and apart from being disgusted I felt at risk. I have an auto immune illness and must avoid contact with infections. I photographed the mattress stains and went to reception. The receptionist looked at the photos and said she would make a file to present to the duty manager when he came on duty. .We had limited time as we had a plane to catch. We went to check out and were told that the 75 dollars additional charge would be cancelled but the room charge remained. After our departure we had a letter from the hotel saying that it was hoped that we were satisfied with the outcome. We are not. Four nights in a dirty unhygienic and possibly damp bed together with a non functioning toilet for one night equals a health hazard and something that neither of us chooses to repeat. Stayed for 5 nights during a large Convention. Large room with balcony and great sea view. Bathroom area was also large with separate tub and shower. Toiletries were not very good quality. Pool and gym are well equiped. There are several restaurants on the ground floor with great views of the ocean. Even though the hotel was very full due to the convention, service was attentive at all times. Recommend for business or family stays.

We stayed here for 2 nights before going onto a birding tour at Canopy Lodge. First the good: check-in was very easy and staff at front desk was efficient. We booked a "curve suite" and had access to the executive lounge which serves a decent breakfast and dinner that's at no additional charge. The food in the executive lounge was quite good and plenty of choices. At breakfast you can get an omelet made to order. The staff in the executive lounge was outstanding, very friendly, helpful, and attentive. Now the bad: when the curve suite is advertised as a "partial ocean view" they aren't kidding about "partial". Although we are Bonvoy members we did not receive an upgrade or even a good room. The ocean view is mostly blocked by the very tall Venetian tower building next door to the south. So you get a few slices of a view between the tall buildings surrounding the hotel. Even though we were on the 21st floor there are a lot of outside noises penetrating into our room: cars honking, trucks grinding, etc. The room itself could use improvement: scuffed floors, little furniture, and a framed picture with cracked glass in the bathroom, which is usable but nothing more (at least the shower worked OK with the temp easy to adjust). The bed was OK nothing special but we did get a good night's sleep in spite of the constant car honking (reminds me of New York City, which we live near). I don't know if the hotel is full but if this is the best room they could come up with considering the price ($390 / night) and being a Bonvoy member I'm unimpressed. Both my wife and I were not happy with the food at the Masi restaurant. The chef has a very heavy hand soaking everything in sauce and the tenderloin steak I ordered was chewy verging on inedible. I recommend sticking to the free meal you can get in the executive lounge or going outside the hotel for dinner.…

We were in Panama City at the start and end of our time in Panama (with the 3 days in Bocas del Toro in the middle). We stayed at the JW Marriott at the end of our trip and absolutely LOVED it - I wish we'd stayed here both times. Check in - the hotel lobby is on the 13th floor, if I recall correctly (the building itself is 66 floors tall, with the hotel in floors 13-35). The elevators on the left-hand side of the ground floor go directly to the lobby. We were upgraded to an Executive suite (on the 30th floor) and our second room was right next door (as requested). Rooms - the rooms were spectacular! You take glass-enclosed elevators with views to the city up to the 30th floor. Our suite was at the end of the corridor. It was nicely designed - very comfortable bed in an alcove, a large sitting area with dining room, bathroom with soaking tub and separate shower, etc. Plus a balcony looking out to the pacific ocean. Executive lounge - as an elite Marriott Bonvoy member, we had access to the executive lounge. The lounge was excellent. Very good selection at breakfast and evening hors d'oeuvres, with comfortable seating both inside and on a deck with postcard views. Pool - the hotel's signature feature is the infinity pool. The pool area is on the 13th floor and has two infinity pools plus two regular pools. We first went in the afternoon - the area is in the shade and was quite windy - not ideal. We went again the next morning and it was perfect - full sun, a light breeze and fantastic views. I suspect that everyone who stays at this hotel takes their picture in the infinity pool. A lot of posing! But, but aware, the pool water is very cold so no one stays in for long. Location - the hotel is among other high-rise buildings and nothing is really walking distance from the hotel. We took Ubers to Casco Viejo (Panama's old town) and different restaurants. Ubers came to the hotel within 2 minutes and were super cheap ($5-7 per trip). Service - we left some of our luggage at the hotel and everything was handled smoothly. David Cordoba, the hotel's guest relations manager, arranged for a beautiful welcome amenity to be placed in our room, and he also welcomed us to the lounge. He really made our stay extra special - he's a true asset to the JW. Checkout - Checkout was super easy. The hotel honored our request for late check out, gave us some bottles of waterr, and then it was a easy ride to the airport (about 20 minutes to the airport, all highway). Overall - if you have status with Marriott, this is a fabulous option in Panama City. Highly recommend.…
