Looking for a boutique hotel in the Casco area of Panama City, we found Las Clementinas and were not disappointed.
To allow for adequate time between flying into Panama City and our trip to Bocas del Toro, we initially made two one-night "bookend" reservations. However, when winter weather in the States caused us to depart a day early for Panama, we needed an additional night and Las Clementinas was totally accommodating - our original room choice was booked for that additional night, so they upgraded us to a suite at no charge. Additionally when our flight back to Panama City from Bocas was delayed, they were so responsive in providing us the ability to check in even after staff had departed for the night.
The location was fantastic, with Casco right out our doorstep. And the rooms themselves were just as pictured - a soft mattress and a tiled luxury shower that was absolutely gorgeous, as well as some funky modern art (and even a piano in our suite!). The suite kitchen contained everything we might possibly need, including wine glasses for the wine we drank each night on the rooftop patio that provided romantic views of the city.
Finally, we cannot rave enough about their restaurant, Mahalo. Often hotel restaurants are not up to par, but after trudging around Casco our first night following a long flight, we finally decided to go back to the hotel and give it a try. We are so glad we did! We were so happy with the food and drinks (flavor and presentation worthy of a five-star restaurant and reasonably priced), that we returned for the following day's lunch and Saturday brunch before our flight home - each on the delightful shaded outdoor patio.
Thank you Las Clementinas for going above and beyond to make our stay in Panama City a great experience!

This is a lovely traditional hotel in a great location in the old town. They are highly responsive to emails and WhatsApp which makes planning easier. The staff are also really lovely and helpful and gave good advice. Lonely planet probably got this right when they say this hotel has ‘faded charm’. Our room was a little mismatched. It was 3 stories up so quiet but there are an awful lot of stairs. The suite we had was huge and they allowed all 3 kids to sleep in the sitting room/dining room on a combination of single bed and sofa bed. If you have 3 kids you know how hard finding this is. The kitchen came with freshly ground coffee and filters for the machine which was greatly appreciated. The bathroom had a huge shower with the most beautiful tiles and an excellent shower head. The kids really missed having a pool. Shame they don’t have a small plunge pool. The gardens are between the buildings and are a tropical retreat from the streets. The restaurant is excellent and we had the most delicious lunch here. I can highly recommend eating here. We very much enjoyed our stay here.

This hotel was a gem. We stayed with our two kids in a room with two queen beds, and it was perfect for us. The hotel is tucked in the heart of Casco Viejo, and we could walk to everything. We loved the architecture of the unique, historical building. We ate at the restaurant attached to the hotel every day, and it was delicious and the ambiance was perfect. (The restaurant is called MaHalo and their garden patio is so quaint!) The rooftop view of Panama City from the hotel was amazing.
The only word of caution that I would give is that we arrived late on a Friday night, and Casco Viejo was PACKED, so it was a bit disorienting to find the hotel and get checked in. Look for Mahalo Restaurant because it is on a corner and easier to find. The hotel is attached to Mahalo. We had a rental car, and the hotel lead us to their gated lot a few streets away, where we parked for $15/day.
Casco Viejo is busy at night, and sometimes we could hear the party music from nearby in our bedroom as we were trying to sleep, but we just turned on white noise, and it was fine.
I would definitely stay at this hotel again! It was beautiful and unique and worked for our family perfectly.

Las Clementinas was our hotel to arrive at. It is very cool and centrally located in the really beautiful old town. Some rooms are located back and can be reached through the backyard of the restaurant.
The welcome is super friendly and the staff very helpful. The rooms are nice and large, but they seemed to us like they could use a touchup and should definitely be a bit cleaner (it was very dusty in the corners and also the one or the other corner in the bathroom could have been better). The attached restaurant is nice and offers very delicious things.
What you need to know, especially as it approaches the weekend, are two discos all around that you can just hear clearly. You're just in the old town. However, the hotel also offers facilities for festivities. When we were there was a wedding and from there also of course to listen to music.

We stayed at Las Clementinas hotel in February and were happy with our decision to stay there.
The hotel was good value for it's central location, obviously not as luxurious as e.g. the American Trade hotel, but it was just around the corner from there so enjoyed just a good location for a fraction of the cost.
We only had a standard room, which was spacious & had really tall ceilings adding to the character of the colonial building.
Although we didn't eat there, the hotel restaurant was always busy & we did enjoy a drink one afternoon in the courtyard which had a nice vibe especially at the weekend.
Overall we really enjoyed Panama City much more than we expected & would again stay in Casca Viejo with all it's old buildings, churches & charm. There are lots of great restaurants & bars within easy walking distance and also some good coffee shops (the one next to the American Trade hotel served very good coffee & a decent breakfast).

These are suites with a living room and a separate bedroom. There is a kitchen but there are no convenience stores nearby. The management of the restaurant is separate from the Hotel and the breakfasts are quite expensive. The meals are very good at local prices and the garden area is pleasant. The staff is very pleasant, I recommend.

Wonderful hotel in Casco Viejo - our room was spacious and nicely furnished, with great balconies on both sides. The restaurant downstairs was excellent, and the waiters were happy to bring up drinks and dessert for us when we wanted a quiet end to the evening. The location is fantastic - easy walking distance to restaurants and sights. It was a little loud on a Saturday night, with music from nearby bars, but Sunday and Monday were quiet, and the white noise from the A/C mostly drowned it out - we slept well.

We were very impressed with the service from the beginning we made the reservation. Communication via email or WhatsApp was easy. They arranged for airport pick up, a tour of the old town and a transfer to the Colon cruise port. The location is perfect in the old town . We had an apartment which was very comfortable. The best was the roof top terrace for drinks as the sun went down and the lights of Panamá came on. There is a restaurant on the premises. We had dinner and breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed both We would highly recommend Les Clementinas

Beautifully renovated exterior of colonial architecture. Top quality interior remodeling, bathroom fixtures, windows, firm mattress, etc. Very quiet ducted air conditioning with individual comfort setting. Very helpful and polite staff. Nice open-sky shaded tropical garden for reading and dining. Indoor restaurant is maintained in original Italian marble. Very attentive staff with little to no waiting for ordering meals and being served.
Outdoor dining area is somewhat noisy due to remote-site installation of an A/C compressor unit located behind vented blind. Also a floor fan in this partially enclosed garden contributes to noise level, disturbing the tropical appeal. These problems could be solved with an overhead slow-speed breeze fan and either relocating the A/C or provision of brick construction surrounds of the A/C. Also, upper floors are less likely to be exposed to the loud music & sounds from street level residences. In this regard, you might want to avoid studio apartment #7.

This hotel / apartment block has nice rooms. Initially I stayed in room 5 which is very spacious, and I slept really comfortably there. Then I changed to room 9…. . It’s beautifully decorated room but I did not get more than 3 hours sleep. It was HELL. I had earplugs in, two pillows over my head and my own radio playing to block out noise from street but nothing would work. Worst of all I was told upon check in “don’t worry the music stops at 11pm”. I can assure you at 4.30am it was still playing loudly.
Then at 8am it starts again from the restaurant downstairs. I checked out as soon as I could and went to a lovely 5 star hotel 10 mins away which was cheaper and so lovely and peaceful.
