The Summit Rainforest & Golf Resort garners praise for its extensive amenities and family-friendly atmosphere, with many travelers enjoying the spacious rooms and fun activities. However, some guests note that the lively environment can be noisy, and the need for maintenance is occasionally mentioned. The service is often commended for being attentive, yet there are sporadic reports of slow responses. Opinions on value vary, with additional costs sometimes a point of contention. The resort's location is widely celebrated for its natural beauty, although cleanliness in the rooms has been called into question by a few visitors.

I really have enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The staff were very nice and helpful. I loved being in part of the rain forest where I actually saw more birds and other animals than the bearby National Park. The price for my stay was excellent, and what a bonus to have a breakfast buffet and some free shuttle rides. The only issue I had was when they didn't pick us up at the Discovery Center. Someone came by to clean the room every day, and they also leave 2 bottles of water each day. The hotel has some rundown spots but it is in the middle of a rainforest, so 🤷 They did have someone who was working on the outside of the building everyday.

It is a very nice hotel in a beautiful location. A resort with golf courses.
The rooms are large and comfortable, as are the beds. They have TV, refrigerator, water heater, coffee..., wifi... AA (The AA is quite strong inside the hotel, but in the rooms it can be programmed to suit the traveler.)
The rooms also have a balcony with beautiful views.
It is a fairly large hotel and is very well maintained. Cleaning well. Bed and bathroom linens also clean. Amenities.
To cite something negative, they have problems with water. We showered throughout the stay with cold water because there was no hot water. Additionally, the bathrooms in several rooms flooded for various reasons.
But, overall, very good stay.
It's "all inclusive", they put a bracelet on you and you spend the day eating and drinking. The restaurant food is good and the service very friendly.
Finally, the hotel offers numerous free activities in the surrounding area (for example, walking around the golf courses in golf carts, visiting the butterfly garden; and in the evenings, dancing or karaoke)
The wifi works well throughout the accommodation. The pool area is very nice and pleasant (when there are few people. When the weekend arrived, the scandal, the children and the thunderous music were horrible)
The large pool has a glass side overlooking the jungle. A marvel.
It is a highly recommended hotel. And if you also like golf, "honey on top"

The breakfast seemed American to me, but with a plus, economical and varied. Omelets to taste, but they also have eggs already prepared, the girls are very attentive to the service and the cleanliness of the tables. I loved the food. Very delicious. Thanks to Kigalipiler for your hospitality.

We stayed at this hotel for 9 nights during December and January. The Summit has a great location if you have a car and want to explore the area.

However, the rooms are not clean, there is an unpleasant smell, and if you're looking for a calm place, you'll have to deal with the noise from weddings or day passes, which allow people to use the pool and enjoy the food of the hotel. One evening, we couldn’t use the pool after 3 PM, and we weren’t warned about it beforehand.

The staff members are not very friendly, often seem busy, and lack attentiveness. We had to call three times just to get a hairdryer in our room. They also charged us $40 for towels that we used to clean the bathroom ourselves because the maid did not do their job properly. The food is overpriced and not very good.

Additionally, we were surprised that the staff’s English was not great for a tourist location. We often had to use gestures or Google Translate to communicate with them.

In summary, the hotel is okay if you just need a base to explore the surroundings, but if you're looking for a nice hotel experience, go to Gamboa! We spent a lot of time there for various tours, and the experience with the staff, as well as the quality of the food, was completely different—in a good way.

When you arrive at the hotel you find a button that does not help you with the bags "maybe because we were nationals" I understand that part of the welcome as a guest is apart from receiving kindly "that did happen" would be to ask at least if you want help with the luggage.
The facilities on that floor have a high sky with a very nice wooden structure with orchids and a large window in front that wraps you in very nice nature.
The receptionists I think were very busy with all the arriving guests.
You have to climb stairs to get to the lobby, eye, it has elevator but it's further back than at first glance you don't realize.
The rooms super spacious, very comfortable beds and soft linens smooth. The beautiful bathroom with stone walls, a huge mirror, with warm light, pictures and flowers very well presented.
It has maintenance issues to improve as is air conditioning we get fixed in the early morning because the air turned off and water started coming out through a lamp. Go down to reception to request help so we get maintenance around 1am. It has certain switches that do not work, strip for connecting cables also not working.
The food is varied in the buffet always with 3 protein options, 3 carbohydrates, variety of salads and always some cream or soup to accompany (check the food, a little salt rise).
The included snacks have certain rich things but should offer alternatives because not everyone can eat what they offer as snacks.
The drinks included are very good, the boys once they grab the movement of the day already do it fast but good attention in what is kitchen, table and bar.
The very entertaining, informative and educational guided tour is good to know about fauna and flora of Panama, excellent tour.
The pictures of the hotel corridors and the very beautiful painted murals. The images in the photos are from our Panama of old and the murals are of flora and fauna from our rich and diverse forests.
I give it in total 4 stars, I hope you take into consideration the improvements that became one of the managers who very kindly the next day I look for some option to make us change rooms but already only 1 night.
Receiving reviews is always good to be better and not a bad hotel is very nice and you really rest among nature but I know they can be even much better.
Just pay attention to getting better.

I stayed here with my fiancé for 2 weeks (Feb 1-14) to celebrate my birthday and explore the rainforests. We booked a Business Suite, which was a bit rough around the edges but overall nice, clean and comfortable. Biggest issues were no chairs on the patio and the kitchenette came with zero supplies such as cutlery or plates, rendering it nearly unusable. The hot water was hit or miss so we had cold showers a handful of nights. And this hotel is WILD on the weekends with events, as other reviewers point out. Expect your walls to shake into the wee morning hours Thursday through Sunday (and we were on the top floor, far from the festivities!).

Unfortunately, on day 4, which also happened to be my birthday, I found a big maggot baked right into my fried eggplant from the breakfast buffet. This wasn't just a random bug or worm that accidentally fell in or didn't get washed off properly... this was 100% a maggot, which clearly indicated that the kitchen was serving rotten food. I feel like my reaction was very modest and polite given the situation, but their response is what left a bad taste in my mouth, so to say. They refused to admit to any wrongdoing and their only offer to make amends was a free meal at the same restaurant that just served me spoiled food, as well as a bottle of wine (which was already part of our booking amenities anyways). The remaining 10 days of our stay felt awkward and tense. The only person who seemed sincerely apologetic about what happened was the hostess who initially took my plate after showing her. After speaking with management the following day, their only concern was whether or not I had any "proof". I think it's fair to hold a 4-star hotel to a standard higher than maggots in my food and every visitor choosing to spend their money there deserves to know that they may not be upholding proper health and safety standards in their kitchen.

Incident aside, the hotel itself is in a good location for exploring the area. But be warned, it's minimum 15 minute drive to the closest restaurant or grocery store if you want to avoid the food onsite ;) The hotel grounds are beautiful and the golf course is massive. We never played golf, but we did enjoy morning and evening walks where we saw plenty of birds and other wildlife.

We reserved this hotel through AirBnB. We were expecting the quality of our stay to be on par with previous AirBnB experiences, but we were wrong. I'll submit a separate review to them. Now with respect to the hotel itself.
Pros:
We were on the 8th floor with a nice view of the rainforest and golf course.
The room was large and comfortable; however the furniture is very old.
The railings on the balcony are in an awful, rusted state. (see photos)
Housekeeping was very good.
The host that received us at the front door was very nice and accommodating, taking us to the front desk and then taking our baggage to the room.
Cons:
This hotel is in very bad shape and needs a lot of TLC.
Front desk did not provide any information at all about the hotel, where things are (restaurant, pool, etc.); they just gave us the key and that's it.
The rugs (at least on the 8th floor) are in very bad shape. (See photos)
The rooms keys had to be recoded twice during the second day and after every housekeeping visit because they would not open the door.
We had to call for the toilet that was obviously leaking water from the tank (we could hear the tank filling with water every couple of minutes). They came, but not sure what they did because the noise continued. We would have to close the bathroom door to avoid hearing the noise during the night. We figured out on our own that with simply tugging a bit on the toilet lever a couple of times, it seems that the inside flapper would sit properly, and it would stop (at least for a while).
We had them drop us off at the Miraflores canal for a visit. They were supposed to pick us up at 3 p.m. We had to wait 45 minutes for them to come pick us up, after calling them to ask where the driver was. We almost took a cab.

This was our first visit to Panama, perhaps, not the last, but definitely will not be returning to this hotel.

My wife and I visited Panama for the very first time in March 2023. We selected this hotel for part of our stay due to its location close to the city, close to the canal, and because it had an on-site golf course. When we travel I like to play while my wife likes to sit at the pool.

My poor experience with this hotel started before I even arrived. Despite making several inquiries about tee time availability, I received no response from contact methods listed on their website. This didn’t deter me too much as I have played all over the world and have never had issues being fit in as a single player. The lack of customer service also reared itself when my third party booking agent attempted to make inquiries to adjust our booking but also could not get In touch with anyone at the hotel.

My disappointment grew when we booked into the hotel. I was immediately told that golf would not be available for the duration of my visit as the hotel was hosting a kids tournament. I was told more than once that they could not fit me in anywhere. ( even though the next 2 mornings I saw several people playing in the morning before the tournament was started)

When I made on-site inquiries about adjusting the reservation, I was told a manager needed to be consulted. They proceeded to charge me for the entire reservation.

The location is good for seeing the canal, and also convenient for some trips - I recommend visiting Monkey Island.

The on site restaurant is very basic, and is barely above pub food. The breakfast bar is sufficient.

My wife and I are avid runners but this location is not conducive for that. The roadway nearby has no shoulders and traffic in the area made the prospect of running far too dangerous.

The hotel was also hosting a wedding during our stay so they cordoned off a large part of their outdoor area for that purpose which left the one available pool overcrowded with minimal sun beds for the rest of the guests.

Given the above noted disappointments, my wife and I decided to check in to another hotel. I tried repeatedly to touch base with a manager to shorten our stay. Finally on the second day I spoke to one who seemed understanding to our grievances. We came to an agreement that I even though we were checking out after 2 days, I would pay for a third, and he in turn would not charge me for the last day of our original reservation. He said it may take some time for my account to be credited.

When I checked out, I asked for a receipt, and was, again, told that a manager would have to do that when they got in.

A month after our stay, and after several attempts to reach the hotel, some correspondence which was responded to, the hotel has yet to issue a credit, and they have pretty much had zero dialogue.

Although, we very much enjoyed our trip to Panama and will be making a return in the near future, we will not be going back to this hotel.

I didn't like that they withheld my identification card, the data protection law exempts me from that. On the other hand, the pool was dirty with sand and sediment. The staff's attention was very good, the food excellent, it was worth the trip. I would return except for what was said above. I recommend correcting the retention of documentation by removing the towels and cleaning the pool more often.

For the price, I think this hotel is awesome! It's in a great location with this cheap tour of just $2/person for the butterfly pen & the tiny frog pen, and a walk through the forest with a guide.

The staff is great and attentive and super sweet. The food is good, not superb (but that could be because we decided to extend our stay for 2 more nights from 2 nights, and we didn't go anywhere else to eat). The pool is gorgeous, and the little walks through the forest are nice.

There was a problem with our booking through Expedia and they wanted us to pay another $27/person extra, even though our reservation clearly had us all in the room. That kinda miffed me, but once that was resolved with Expedia, everything was good. That delayed us checking in for about an hour. That's not super nice when you just arrive.

Rooms are spic and span. Beds are great. Hotel is in a gorgeous setting.

No, it's about 30-40 min from the airport. The best price i found was with Panama on Wheels ($60 each way for 3 people). They send a nice van and meet you with a sign. They require a first deposit int Paypal then cash for the rest. The hotel can arrange for a private taxi if you like.
