Unmatched location, warm staff, impeccable service and clean rooms. We did not have any meals in the hotel so cannot review the restaurant/bar/food. We stayed on 2 different instances and one time it was a suite which was incredibly big with a jacuzzi tub. We did not have time to use it :) but there was a partial view of the ocean. The other time - We stayed in another room which had 2 queen beds but was facing the Ocean.
I’ve stayed at this hotel 4 times over the last 2 years, and every time I wonder if I would not be better off somewhere else. Invariably, I come to the same answer: I stay at this hotel simply because of its location right across from the boardwalk (“Cinta Costera”). It is an absolute delight to wake up every morning before sunrise and head out for a walk along the Cinta Costera toward the old town. Even though the hotel is located on Avenida Balboa (one of the busiest roads in Panama City), I’ve never had any issues with the street noise. The rooms are decently sized, with good desks, plenty of outlets and thick blackout curtains. The gym (located in a former guestroom, 201) is also reasonably sized, albeit with limited machines and free-weights. Now, why do I wonder if I shouldn’t be staying somewhere else: 1) Service across the board (front desk, room service, restaurant) can be hit or miss, but lately more on the “miss” side. Slow, unfriendly and with plenty of room for improvement. 2) The breakfast offering is pretty limited, and the coffee served is particularly bad. 3) The menu at the restaurant is also fairly limited and not particularly interesting. Luckily, Azahar (an outstanding restaurant) is only 2 blocks away. 4) Lastly, the hotel is showing its age and could really do with a refurbishment. It is not a hip / trendy hotel and the rooftop swimming pool is just a tad bigger than a postage stamp. Where will I stay next time I go to Panama? Probably Le Meridien. …
The hotel was centrally located. Therefore, it was great for walking and Ubering around town. We had a great view of the Pacific and the high rises. The room was in good condition and the staff was very helpful.
I’d seen some mixed reviews about this hotel, but I was pleasantly surprised by the friendliness of the staff, the location, and the comfort of the rooms. The rooms perhaps look a little dated, but the layout was good (we had a two room suite), the beds were comfortable and all amenities were there. The rooftop pool was on the small side, but perfectly fine for a refreshing dip. The bar in lobby was good, and the staff were super friendly. Price is reflective of updates required. I would come back.
Will never come back. Far from a first class or deluxe property. We arrived at 245pm and we where told check in was at 3pm, but they would check us in anyway. One would expect the room to be ready as check in is at 3 NOT! We have been waiting for extra towels since 4pm now is 840pm. I guess we are sharing the towel and hand towel in the morning ! Lack of service lack of everything …..
