Stately old mansion, a 20-minute walk from Plaza de Armas, with comfortable rooms, good breakfast, and a very courteous staff. Other reviews complain of "no A/C", but our room, on the 3rd floor, was fully air conditioned. (My one tip, though, would be to try for a room on the

It is a lovely building and very nicely restored. We were disappointed not to be given a room with AC especially when it was 38 degrees outside (hotel didn’t seem busy either). Breakfast is quite nice and the gardens were lovely.

We stayed for 3 nights - personal service, beautiful outdoor patio and garden, great to sit in the morning with a cup of coffee. Breakfast included. Rooms had heat, but no AC. Fan was sufficient. Wide variety of dining nearby - tasty pizza next door!

The hotel is beautiful and the security is a gate that only opens when you give them your room and name. There’s a beautiful back garden area where you can have your breakfast or a drink. All the rooms are on the second or third floor with no elevator. There is a service

Tucked in the corner of an old neighborhood filled with many buildings from a bygone era the Matildas Boutique Hotel is a little gem. The building is several hundred years old with immensely high ceilings and tall doors and shuttered widows. The rooms are all wonderfully airy

Hello traveler! We just stayed at the Hotel Matildas a second time. One of the reasons we like the hotel is the location - walking distance (about 10-15 minutes) to Plaza de Armas, Moneda, Museo Bellas Artes, Cathedral, etc. Barrio Brazil is safe, at least during the day and evening. The neighborhood is not fancy, but has many older buildings (including the hotel) that are in some phase of restoration. The hotel itself is lovely, well restored and with great friendly service. We had no problems with noise. We recommend it highly.

Hi Robyn I'm pretty sure that Matildas will book an airport transfer to the hotel for you if you ask them. It's about 45 minutes, depending on the traffic. A day trip to Valparaiso should also be do-able. Don't forget that Uber operates in Chile, and you can always take the bus.

"Try for a room on the lower floor -- after a day of walking around town, especially in the summer heat, that 2nd flight of stairs is brutal."
"Request a second floor, garden view room for quiet and less stairs."
"No elevator, so choose 2nd floor if you have trouble with stairs."
"I had a corner room on the second floor. It was huge, particularly for one person."
"This hotel may not be suitable for everyone as there is no lift."
