Detailed Reviews
The location was very convenient. Everything were walking distance. The staff were also friendly. However, the room was really small. It was hard to move around. The door was very near the bed. They also had schedules in using the generator during power interruptions so you cannot shower or use the room during the times wherein it is off

I booked a family room for myself via booking.com for 3 nights and I was pleased with the size as it can fit a family of four. It had two split type AC and a wall fan. There are a lot to be improved though. The room has its own bathroom,it slighlty reeks a weird smell but good thing it doesn’t smell in the room. The bathroom was spacious and they provided small bottle of shampoo and bath get good enough for my stay. They have clean towels too. The bidet didn’t have enough water pressure even if I adjusted the knob. It was useless. The room has 1 big bed with 6 soft clean pillows. There was a small bed with a pull out bed. There was a few instance that the electricity went out early morning. There were few of mosquitoes in the room too. It could’ve been better if there was more vetilation it the room. As I cannot open the window. - else the mosquitos will swarm inside the room. No mini fridge but they provide free ginger tea and drinking water. There is a leak from the ceiling as well which needs repair.
The room had a tv and clothes rack. There is a common area outside the rooms to hangout but since is it mosquito season- it is not recommended to stay there. They have motorcycle parking if you wish to rent one. The accomodation has a coffee shop and motorcycle rental across. Beside it has a mini drustore. It is walking distance to everywhere and to
The tour boat area. The staff are nice too. They gave me access to the wifi but the password didn’t work. The smart mobile data is weak, I guess it is like that for the whole island. 1 or 2 bars only but still works. No curfew.
It could’ve been better if they start serving free breakfast. They have a lot of cctv. Overall, It was still a good stay and I think it is better than the other accomodations nearby.

I loved the facade of this Hotel it looks and feels very Filipino✨🥰 there’s an unlimited coffee or ginger tea in lanai area which I appreciate. Down side is the standard room I got is small & the ceiling is low. I noticed the blind folds in my room were teared apart so that anyone from the outside can secretly take a look at what’s happening inside🤔

Amakan is in Elnidos center its walkable to some toursist spot like Canopy. Also 15 minute walk to the beach and the restaurant. Amakan is like an Inn which I do recommend to buy dental kit as they do offer it on the room. We have arrived and booked 2 rooms we requested to have same floor but the the staff mentioned “it will ruin their arrival” which I found unacceptable. My sister room where in the 5th floor they had a nice view and my room was located in 2nd floor. Room was quite decent with ac and tv. But the bathroom water had earthy smell unlike compared to other places we went. They had common place where they serve complimentary coffee and tea. Wifi is not available ok the room but only on their frond desk. Overall the stay was average.

I had a nice time staying here. Very comfortable, clean and close to everything in town. The staff were very friendly and gave great recommendations for food and things to do around El Nido. Would recommend staying here.

I wouldn't come back here, yes it is clean and modern compared to most places in the surrounding area that I could see but the room was the size of shoe box so if I did I'd defiantly be upgrading in size because I felt very squashed. Breakfast was very average, and I returned to my room after a tour one day and they had cleaned the room and left the door wide open... after that I was convinced I would never be back!

Response from Denise-Emanuel, Public Relations Manager at Amakan Bed Bunk Breakfast
Responded 16 Jan 2018
Dear Sophie, We are very sorry to hear of your unpleasant experience during your stay with us. Your feedback on room size and breakfast has been taken with great consideration and we are working tirelessly to improve in these areas daily. We performed an investigation on the house keeping described and discovered that due to an unfortunate incident a room in the next floor, our three man housekeeping team left the room being cleaned momentarily to attend to this emergency. We have addressed this incident, reprimanded the team accordingly, and apologize for any unease this has caused you. Please know your comfort and peace of mind are our top priority and we do not take these incidents lightly. Rest assured we have since then implemented much stricter controls during our housekeeping rounds. Your review is very important in helping us improve our services, and we do hope to have the opportunity to redeem ourselves in the future. Respectfully, Your Amakan Family

After 5 nights at Amakan. I can safely advice people not to go here.
We had a terrible experience. Firstly, there is no lunch or dinner provided - despite saying they do.
Also there is no laundry service - despite saying they do.
We stayed in a ‘queen deluxe room’ - and if this is ‘deluxe’ god knows what the standard rooms are like.
Brekfast was limited. After the the second day we didn’t even bother. Ants all over the serving spoons.
We booked a trip in the town (Tour A) and due to the recent weather conditions this trip was cancelled 3 days in a row. We were told by the organisers that every hotel is informed about whether or not the trip will go ahead at 6:30am and guests would be told. In this case Amakan writes on a white board what trips are going ahead. On our last day in El Nido (the last opportunity we had to go on the trip) we went down stairs to see the sign state ‘all trips are cancelled’ we were gutted and later in the day went to get a refund from the trip organisers. Who then asked why we did not show up and stated all the trips had gone ahead. They also stated they delayed the trip rang the hotel to get us as we didn’t show up and the receptionist said there was no record of our names on the system!!!
When I went back to the hotel to discuss this the man behind reception looked very sheepish and rubbed off and changed the note on the white board in front of us (bit late now!!) the women behind the computer just ignored us and continued to type.
I asked to speak to a manager and was told I would have to wait 15 minutes as she was eating her lunch. 15 minutes had past and the receptionist returned saying I would have to wait another 5 minutes as she had not finished her lunch.
Well, I wish I hadn’t bothered , they took no responsibility and she was the rudest individual I have ever come across.
This place is over priced. You can get MUCH nicer places in El Nido, with MUCH nicer staff. Please, please don’t make the same mistake we did.

So many positive for this hotel - great location - walking distance to the beach/bars/restaurants, very clean and nice rooms, great breakfast and good facilities.
However,...customer service for payment really needs looking into as we were left so embarrassed and angry at the way this was handled.
Firstly, we received an email a week before our stay (when we had just arrived in the Philippines) saying we needed to pay £45 deposit in 4 days or they would cancel our reservation - tricky with wifi connection so we had to continually source cafes. Once we paid we had to send various forms of payment proof. I am unsure why the hotel was unable to check their own accounts or arrange all this before 4 days before our stay!
When we arrived at the hotel they tried to charge us the full amount and I had to point out we had already paid the deposit. They do not accept card so we paid through paypal as they insisted we had to do this before we could go to our room and drop off our luggage, although 12% charge was added from the price quoted on booking.com.
When we left the hotel and handed our key in we were chased down the street by the receptionist shouting at us that we had not paid! When I explained we had and did this on arrival she demanded photo proof from me - again why can the hotel not check their own accounts and keep on top of who has paid what? We were told payment on arrival was compulsory?
We did like many things about this hotel but cannot give it a high rating due to the 3 separate payment issues we experienced.

Responded 16 Jan 2018
Dear Leanne, Thank you for taking the time to write this review. Firstly we want to apologize for the unpleasant customer service you experienced during your stay. Rest assured we have worked tirelessly to improve in this area since then and your feedback is greatly appreciated. We investigated this incident and have reprimanded the receptionist in question on this incident accordingly. Unfortunately booking.com's advertises room rates on their website without the 12% government mandated tax and we have raised this issue with them that this is a cause of distress to our guests. We have also improved our payments checking system with PayPal and we do hope to have the opportunity to redeem ourselves in the future. Warmest Regards, Your Amakan Family

Not too far maybe about a 5 10 min walk. The other beach is further out of El Niño just ask the hotel. There is a great scoter rental place right beside the hotel. Enjoy your stay. They are just amazing there.
