5-Nights after completing 3-Nights in Quarantine after arrival back in HK. Check in was quite simple though with some mis-understandings.

Room was a good size, clean, soft carpet, large window with a small sofa and TV with accessible HDMI socket to connect my laptop (pity the TV cannot be tilted towards the sofa). Bed was large, comfy and 2-each of hard and soft pillows. There was a large shower with good water pressure and a handy drying line. Only criticism would be noise insulation between rooms is a little weak but that equally could have been down to my neighbours. That said, I couldn't hear much from the street.

Being on "Amber QR Code" I was not allowed to eat the included breakfast at the restaurant but the quys were really good enough to put into a box I took down so that I could eat back at my room. Super fast.

Being in Mong Kok, getting around is easy, a short walk from Nathan Road and there's plenty choices for supermarket, take-away foods, and other services.

Huge thank yous to Cara, Tansie and the friendly guys managing breakfasts.

The Holiday Inn Express Mongkok is located not far from Nathan Road in a vibrant, residential part on Kowloon. I visited Hong Kong during a time when protests had been occurring across the city but I saw no sign of demonstrations and felt quite safe all the time during my 4 night stay. My hotel must have had low occupancy as I saw very few people in reception or the breakfast room during my stay. This was very sad as Hong Kong is such a fantastic city to visit and it doesn't deserve to be deserted by international travellers. Hong Kong people have a bit of a reputation of being unfriendly but this was not the case at the Holiday Inn Express Mongkok. The reception staff were very friendly and accommodating, the housekeeping staff did a great job servicing my room and the staff in the breakfast room couldn't do enough to be helpful. My room was an ok size by Hong Kong standards. The bed was huge and very, very comfortable. The rooms decor is a lil' dated and could do with an update but was still clean and functional. I experienced no problems during my stay and Im sure if I had, it would have been attended to promptly. I would have no hesitation in staying here again. I only hope that next time the hotel is full and tourists are again swarming to this amazing city.

As a IHG member, I got automatic upgrades in room type. So my impression maybe a little bit inflated. Still…

Room: Rooms size isn’t something taken for granted in Hong Kong. Many hotel rooms are tiny. The room here is on the big side. There’s actually a couch to sit on. A desk that isn’t butting up against the bed. Big window with lots of light. Makes for almost a home. I came back for a second and third stay while I crisscross Southeast Asia.

Bathroom: again, decent size. A big help is the cloth line. Makes it possible to hand wash a few piece of garment and hang it on the cloth line to dry. Also, the hotel has self-service laundry too. Further more, there’re laundryvmart nearby at quite reasonable price.

Also, if you’re returning to the hotel in a few days, they’ll hold your excess luggage too. All in all, a nice place to use as a base to travel from.

Location is quite good. A short walk to Nathan Rd, which is the hub of all things Hong Kong. One minor issue is, the location isn’t on the usual route for taxi to cruise by. So it’s either call for one (only for long trips such as going to the airport), or walk a couple blocks to where the taxis congregate. So if you have lots of luggage, plan accordingly.

The only fly in the ornament is the included breakfast. It’s simply boring and not very well done. That’s given the location is in a neighborhood with lots of excellent low priced eateries. I’d prefer they make the breakfast optional and lower the price accordingly.

As you can learn from my profile I mostly share positives feedback about the hotels I stayed at.

This hotel left rather traumatizing impression for me. I had to cancel and refund my reservation before I even finished checked in. First, they never responded to my inquiry email I sent prior arrival. Upon check-in the receptionist and THE MANAGER seems never heard of speaking politely, she couldn't locate my booking (which I made directly), when found, she did not confirm room type/preferences, did not explained facilities, did not acknowledge me as a member. When I started asking about monthly rate for my possible extension (that was my email inquiry), the manager, who never mentioned his name (no name tags, they even signed my refund confirmation with "Best Regards, Front Desk") started explaining me options and prices in a very aggressive tone, addressing me as "lady" like I am some crazy lady from Mong Kok markets and not a guest with existing prepaid booking, he was rude, unprofessional, making childish remarks. And the worst when I asked if I could talk to someone who is not rude he said NO, because he was THE manager, he acted like he owned the place and I am invading his territory. By the way he was very quick and happy to process a refund for me. Clearly, he wanted me out of there ASAP. I had to ask for refund because I couldn't imagine myself staying in a place being treated this way. So I end up with no place to stay, with heavy luggage in my hands (I just moved out from my apartment), and hard feeling from being treated like a piece of garbage. So called manager said nothing when I left not even sorry. I did extend my complaints to IHG group already, but that kind of experience cannot be recovered. I used to trust the IHG brand and stayed in other Holiday Inns before and always had pleasant stays. I still have an impression this person happened to be there by a coincidence, otherwise what kind of manager let this happen to a guest? No, he even MADE this happen. Extremely unprofessional and unwelcoming, stay away from this place.

For a 3 star hotel, this is an exceptionally well run hotel. The breakfasts that come with your stay are especially good with attentive and efficient staff service. Front desk has been extremely helpful and friendly.

The hotel has a 24 hour coin laundry service (tokens bought at front desk) on the 18th floor that is open to the outside that includes a simple exercise section that is well lit at night while you wait for your laundry to finish.

Rooms are tidy and comfortable. A/C works well and hotel is quiet. Location is right in Mong Kok, which is at the heart of HK and easily assessable to buses (Nathan Road) and the subway (MTR) with short 10 min walk. I highly recommend this hotel to those wanting to explore the city!

The Holiday Inn express at Mongkok is a typical business hotel with small rooms that got a bit more cramped with the addition of an extra bed. However our requirements were just to have a clean and convenient place for the night ,as we were out the entire day, for which it suited our purpose. Though I must say the soundproofing needs to be worked on as the traffic noise of the road outside can be disturbing at night if one is a light sleeper.
The hotel staff very kindly gave us an early check in and late check out , the latter we didn't use. The early check in was most appreciated after our long haul sleepless flight to HongKong. Also we were given a room on the 10th floor with a lovely view of the Cherry tree street. The room and bathroom were clean and compact with all what we required.
We did opt for breakfast buffet which is a menu with 5 types of combo of local and western cuisine in good quantity. The breakfast service is very efficient with one of the waiters even remembering my personal choice of requesting for a folk and knife since I am not adept at use of chopsticks.Other meals we didn't eat at the hotel as there are lot of other options too around the area including Tim Ho Wan and Mak Noodles at the Olympic city mall which is just a 15 min walk from the hotel.
While google shows the nearest metro station to the hotel is Yau Ma tai an equally close metro station which is just a pleasant 15 mins walk going over the footbridge, cutting across the Cherry tree park is the Olympic MTR station which one can use to take the direct MTR line to Disneyworld/ and Lantau island.
Red Taxis can also be flagged down just outside the hotel building. We used the Cityflyer bus to arrive at the hotel from the airport taking bus A21 and getting off at the eighth stop ie Sino centre. From there its a 15 min walk to the hotel.
The hotel has a cold drinks dispenser at the lobby which one can use with the Octopus card.
All in all we were happy with our stay.

Before I entered the hotel I got told that we will get a price for long stay. So I intended to stay for at least a couple of months. Just after 1 month has passed, the price suddenly almost became double of what it was before. I can get a better room for the same price. Since that was last moment, I didn't had time to prepare myself to move to another hotel, they did not even ask me whether I wanted to extend my stay. Normally other hotels would contact me and ask whether I would like to extend my stay and if there is a raise in price, they would discuss that with me. It is also so ridiculous to almost double in price, because the expected maximum capacity might be reached. Again, I am here for long term staying, raising it for couple of thousands HKD might still be feasible for me, but almost doubling is just too much. I am not here for some short term stay...

The hotel is nice and clean for the month i have been staying in. (I am still residing here). not much facilities though. But overall a nice hotel to stay in and nice housekeeping. The pricing for long term stay is just so bad and bad communicated.

Rather spacious room compared to other places we've stayed especially as a couple. Huge bed , a two seater couch , desk and generous shower. Ben sherman body products. Wifi great. Breakfast included and you pick from a menu they allow for some mix and matching. East and West fair. Rooms quite too. Laundry available but I think if you poke around you'll find local laundry cheaper. In a funny locale of lots of hardware stores but plenty of eats and supermarkets etc Nathan rd not far and two major train lines both with in 10 min walk. I found A21 bus from airport cheaper and no stairs to negotiate. Would stay again.

The rooms were good, comfortable and neat. Staff were courteous and helpful. Our special requests for storing our luggage were taken care of without any trouble.
The view from the room was excellent. The property is about 7-10 mins walk from the nearest MTR station. It is close to shopping areas.

Breakfast options were limited and repetitive. The spread could have been better.

First, location is very convenient. easy access to MRT station (Yau Ma Tei) and 10-15 min walk to strategic Olympic MRT Station (direct to Tung Chung Line). Near to Night Market, Sneaker Street and wide selections of food offerings. Room is comfortable. Housekeeping staff assigned to my room were very friendly. Staff in the Breakfast restaurant are friendly as well. Breakfast was limited to 4/5 options, could improve but will get you through the morning. Tommy in the Front Desk was very helpful and friendly.

I liked the clever design of the bathroom door, which you can use as the main door and slide over to become the shower door.
