We are currently staying at JJ hotel and I am writing this review using their free and fast wifi:-) We booked the room through booking.com 10 months ago, a premier room for Hkd 980 excluding tax. We sent email to the hotel prior to the booking, asking them was it ok to stay in their premier room for 2 adults and 2 children (age 3 ad 5). The hotel replied that it was ok but they couldn't provide any additional bed, blanket or pillow.

The check in process was fast, their lobby is at 9th floor. We were required to give them 500 hkd deposit. The deposit could be paid by cash or credit card.

This is a no frill kind of hotel. No one assist us to show our room in the 12th floor, but it was ok for us. The premier room is very spacious, it has a kingsize bed and also a bathtub! For the price we paid this hotel considered cheap.

We took airport train express to HK station (HKD 160 for 2 adults) then continued taking the free shuttle bus H1 to Novotel Century. JJ hotel is a 5 mins walking from Novotel Century. The location of JJ is excellent. Walking distance to the Islamic Center which is famous for its halal dimsum, 3 mins walk to tram station (3 stops away from Causewaybay), and there is a bus stop in front of the hotel, which we can take bus 75 going to Ocean Park.

I rate this hotel excellent!

This hotel is located at the central location in Wang Chai, 9-12F of the commercial building and in this building there are a Michelin groumando awarded restaurant and the wellcome supermarket. Always doorman at the elevator. 4 fun minutes walk to the Wang Chai station. Very delicious dim sum restaurant is across the street. Very modern and the king size bed!!! Free internet. I have nothing negative to say about this hotel!

I read all the reviews and thought it be a great place, but WRONG my roof was covered with small little NAT like flying bugs and the room smelled like raw sewage. I went and told the desk and all they said that they can spray the room with bug spray, I told them Not wile i am in the room as it is deadly they said "Oh yea".. All they could say was "Nothing we can do we are full" just to say I would not suggest this place to anyone who really. The Room it's self with out the smell and bugs is a nice room over all for HK and the price, but i guess if you like cheep and the smell of sewage and don't mind shearing the room with 1000000 small flying guests then it is a great place to be.

I've chosen JJ Hotel after much reviews online because of their size & comfort. Their location is awesome. Arriving from airport, just take bus A11, and it will stop at Steward Road, just cross to Burrows Street & you will see the hotel.

The Hotel's reception is on the 9th floor. Generally ideal not to have rooms there as you will need to stay quiet at night. It is a few minutes walk from Wan Chai MTR A3 Exit, there's restaurants, 7-11, supermarket, bakery, Mos Burger, DBS Bank, around the vicinity, totally love it.

However, we were booked to Room 1006. I was warned by a review online that there might be bed bugs. So I've checked, and saw no sight of it. The next morning, I woke up to see a small cockroach on the King Size bed. I was ok with it as such is hard to prevent.
However, on the 3rd day morning. I saw 3 red bugs on my pillow and on the blanket. Living in Singapore, I did not have experience with bed bugs, hence I wasn't quite sure what insects are those. I proceed to use tissue and pinch them, and out came were blood. Our blood that is.

The bite marks doesn't show immediately. For the next few days, I saw bite marks on my arm and on my waist. I was terrified, and asked my boyfriend to enquire at the reception.
They told us they will sanitize our bed for us. We were ok with that.
After shopping, we came back at night, they recommend us to change room, level 9, just beside the reception, since we only have 1 night left, I told them we will check the condition of the bed before making decision as they will give us a small room with 2 single beds.

I saw empty exoskeletons of the bed bugs on the pillows and underside of the bed. It was very unacceptable. There were no compensations.

It is a pity that the hotel is in a great location, but the bed is a disappointment.
Given a choice now, I will not come back to JJ Hotel anymore. I had high expectations of it, and the disappointment factor is high too.

The JJ Hotel is not a place I would recommend for anyone staying in Hong Kong. Even if you are only staying one night in the city, I would suggest looking elsewhere. We booked the reservation through booking.com which was fairly simple. The directions/location information on the hotel website and the booking.com website are useless. It is very difficult to find if you are unfamiliar with the city. I don't feel that it is worth my time to explain how to locate this hotel.

My husband and I arrived at the JJ Hotel around 12:45 pm on Monday, July 15th. It was pouring rain outside and we were drenched. The occupies 4 floors of a building and the reception desk (literally a desk) is located on the 9th floor. We were told that check-in was not until 2 pm and they could not allow us into the room even a minute beforehand. We walked around in the rain and ate lunch at a noodle house not to far away in order to kill time before we could check in to our room. We would have waited in the lobby, but there is no lobby. Not one chair, nothing...it is very strange.

The staff was very curt and unpleasant to deal with during our stay. The women appeared very young and it felt as if they did not want to be bothered with customers. I observed their interaction with other guests and it was consistently poor. I was horrified.

The room is nothing special. The bathroom is the strangest thing I have ever seen in my entire life. One entire wall is glass which means that in order to have any privacy while using the shower or the toilet you had to lower a shade that was anchored above the glass wall. It was impossible to leave the shade down all the time because you would not be able to open the door with the shade in a lowered position. I am still puzzled by the entire situation. You must also run the air conditioning unit in the room while taking a shower to avoid problems with the hot water heater. I also noticed mold along the caulking in the bottom of the shower.

The bed was very hard and uncomfortable. We both woke up with sore necks and aches throughout our entire bodies. The television is a nice size, but the selection of television stations from which to choose is terrible at best. The hotel does have a nice selection of DVD movies and allows guests to check out two DVD's each day. The rooms are equipped with DVD players, but the hotel charges $50 HKD for use of the DVD. This is such a rip off.

All in all, we were quite disappointed in our stay at the JJ Hotel. I hope that my review helps other TripAdvisor travelers to avoid the same experience. If you want an amazing hotel for the same price I can't say enough wonderful things about The T Hotel. I would also pay a few extra bucks to stay in another hotel.

Lets see why I said so...

Location
Great location(not for a great view)...
7min walk from your room to Wan Chai MTR station.
1min walk to 2(TWO) 7-elevens and Wellcome Supermarket (working hours till 11pm) just located underground of its building.
2min walk to Mc Donald's(24hours).
7min to KFC(till 10pm only) right opposite of the Wan Chai MTR Station.
2min walk to "Ting-Ting Bus" or we call it trams.
1min walk to Bus Stop for Bus no.111 to HK-Macau Ferry Terminal which costs you about 5.40HKD.
1min walk to Cafe-De-Coral located just above K-mart & 7-eleven (MUST TRY!!) - a chinese fastfood chain store.
5min walk to Causewaybay's Times Square.
15min walk to Convention Centre.(without any misdirection)
7min walk to Toy Street(till 6pm only) just right beside KFC
1min to Chinese Restaurants(opposite or same street).

Rooms
Wider than normal hotel rooms. I've stayed in Superior Rooms priced at about 500-600HKD per night for a week booked from asiatravel.com as it was cheaper than booking.com and others. It was definitely better than Harbourview Hotel and Dorsettsss. You would not need to put your luggage on top of your bed to get your stuffs. As I had to, in Dorsett(s) - 'which means this hotel is considered spacious for HK land'. I should have found this Hotel earlier! At the first place, I was kinda worried of the pictures shown in tripadvisor. BUT IT WAS FOR REAL! I am not posting any photos as they are exactly what the others had posted. Great design on the Glassy Toilet. Love that. Special and makes me feel that the room is bigger.
The room includes: Toilet Amenities, Minibar(empty), two bottles of mineral everyday, LCD TV with 9chanels +a dvd player for your own discs, 4 power points(one for TV), hair dryer, and for others, you may ask from the reception, wireless broadband for free and free daily newspaper.
The room condition is very new, clean, bigger than other 3star-4star hotels.
People working in this hotels are very helpful and friendly.

Tips for you in HK
Buy your personal octopus card and travel around including buying stuffs in Markets and Restaurants.
For those backpack travelers or student who wishes to save more money on your transfer to the Hotel.
Take a Blue Taxi from HK airport to TungChung MTR which costs you about max 50HKD including huge luggages(3) or Bus at 3.50HKD from Airport to TungChung Station. Take Trains to the City by MTR to Wan Chai Station for 18HKD. It would be much cheaper than taking the airport express(60HKD) as TungChung MTR line is traveling alongside the airport express way only that the line will stop in more stations. From airport to JJ hotel will take you about 55minutes including walking time.
I took taxi upon my arrival at 330HKD which took me about 35minutes at night.
Speak cantonese would not make you a Big Fish to them.
Traveling to Macau from the Ferry terminal is at 146HKD(counter) for one-way ticket(afternoon price). But if you buy it from agents, you could get cheaper rates at 140HKD(only in HK) as Macau Terminal has no agents before the counters.

I am going for this Hotel again this Summer! Will not miss it!
Tres Bien!

Stayed at JJ for 5 nights. Pleasantly surprised to see the hotel room. It was spotless and quite spacious for Hongkong standard. The bathroom was very clean with standing shower. The bathroom amenities were available except for body lotion. The mattress was very comfortable. The fact that the hotel rooms are located on the 9th to 11th floor do help in getting a quiet sleep.
For Hongkong standard, the price we paid was considered very reasonable. JJ hotel is located about 200 meter from Wanchai MTR station and is right in front of a big convenient store. From the airport it can be reached by Airport bus no A 11 and you get off at bus stop no 11 at Hennessy Road.

This was my first trip to HK and after several days of research I settled for the JJ Hotel. It was in my price range and since I couldn't find any negative reviews I decided to go with them. I booked a deluxe room thru Asiatravel.com and their rates were much lower than JJ's published rate.

First of all it was a little difficult to locate due to the disorienting Wan Chai Road. It parallels Johnston Road but also intersects with it. Even with a printout from Google Maps it was still a task finding it walking from the Wan Chai MTR station. There is signage for the hotel but very small so you have to keep your eyes open. Once you find it, it's a piece of cake getting back to the MTR. A 10-minute walk on average and not the 5-8 as advertised.

Room was very clean with a simplistic Japanese feel to it. No dirty bedspreads to worry about since all you have is a comforter. The mattress was very firm but comfortable. Had all the amenities we needed including free wi-fi.

One weird thing was their all glass bathroom. If you like to watch each other make toilet or take a shower then this is your dream come true! There are pull down blinds to cover the glass but it doesn't give total coverage and there is no lock on the door. Very interesting.

Don't be surprised when you're not greeted with warmth and a smile. I stayed there for 5 nights and didn't see one smile from their staff. I'm not sure if it's their culture not to smile but I found it very discourteous.

I would stay here again.

I had tried to book this hotel twice but it was always fully booked. Because of the location I thought. Finally, this time I got a room for us. Definitely, I have made the right choice - not only the location but also the room itself. As you know that the room in HKG is so small unless you pay for 4-5 stars hotel to get a big room. The room here is not that very big but have more space comparing with other guesthouses that nearly pay the same price. We booked double bed room. The bed is big. If you are small, I bet the bed is enough for 3 people. The bathroom made from glass - that makes the room big and wide. Bath gel, shampoo gel, soap, plastic glasses, shower cap, dental set, slippery mat, body towel, back towel, face towel, face tissue is provided. Very good hot and cool shower (I was so happy having more time in a shower.) Wifi signal is strong. If you do not enjoy with local TV program, you may ask for movie DVD at the reception. Overall, JJ is the best choice according to room size, pricing, facilities and location. Definitely recommend and will return for sure.

Tips:
1. Reception is on the 9th floor.
2. Better take Wan Chai MTR rather than Causeway Bay.
3. Wellcome Supermarket is LG floor.
4. Yoshinoya and Cafe de Coral is just next doors.
5. 7-11 and Circle K is nearly.
6. MOS Burger is on Mallory Street (The small one in front of the hotel) This street can also link you to Johnston Road where the tram station is there.
7. From the airport, better take Bus no. E11 or E11A to Stewart Road than Wan Chai MTR.

The nearest airport express station from jj hotel is hong kong station, about 10 minutes by airport express shuttle from novotel wan chai. Novotel wanchai is just about 3 minutes walk straight from jj hotel. We walked to novotel with our 2 big luggages and some handbags, waiting for the shuttle about 10 minutes and it's no fuss at all...
