Thinking about staying at this Hong Kong hostel? My recent experience might change your mind: 1.This place is crazy loud. The rooms don't block any noise, especially when the cleaning staff starts moving furniture early in the morning. And they don't care if it bothers you. 2.Picture this: it's midnight, and your neighbors are rearranging furniture. I called the staff four times, hoping they'd fix it. Spoiler: they never showed up. It was super frustrating. 3.Stayed for four days, and they only changed my towel once. Not great on the cleanliness front. 4.Don't get a room near the staff or storage area; it's as noisy as a construction site. 5.The front desk staff is unprofessional and not helpful. They're like they never learned about customer service. 6.It's not cheap, but the service is bad. You might as well spend a bit more on a hotel where you won't feel like you're on a badly managed school trip. 7.The noise is non-stop, so forget about sleeping in. The staff doesn't care if you want to rest. 8.Brace yourself for an odd request during checkout – they'll actually ask you to strip off the bedsheets for them. I kid you not. It's a bizarre and unexpected demand that adds to the overall unprofessionalism of this place. In short, the high prices and lousy service make this hostel a bad choice. Look for something better for a more comfy stay.

It's historical residential estate, now reactivated for hostile. I had staycation here for 3 nights. The rooms, as expected, are basic. I am satisfied as it's clean, well illuminated, and ventilated. During my stay, the weather was extremely hot and sunny but the air conditioner worked perfectly. My room had no views but a slope. There's a cafe in the restaurant for simple breakfast and lunch. I didn't try. Some cheap eateries after 5-10 mins walk. Need walking over 10 mins to the nearest MTR station, either Shamshuipo or Mei Foo. I explored the neighborhood which is very old with blocks of public housing and poor people. It's fun for me. I stayed as a local. There's a small hill called "Garden Hill" next to this place. There's a staircase besides it which leads you up to the hill top where one can overview the city. Good for day and night scenes. Not that difficult to climb. Overall an interesting experience for 2 or 3 nights.

I'd always choose Mei Ho House whenever I return to Hong Kong at least once a year. The double rooms are spacious and clean. Service staff are pleasant. Plenty of options for breakfast. Our room was also decorated with vintage icons. But the best part of it is that it's really affordable. It's not located in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui or Central, but very well connected by bus and train. Plenty of eateries and bustle in Sham Shui Po, and lots of discounted tech around. Takes half an hour to get to both. A20 goes directly from the airport to Sham Shui Po, although my partner and I haven't been able to locate the return bus back to the airport. Anyone has any clues?

Katherine and I stayed here for a few nights in September. We'd booked a double room through Booking.com and were very pleased with the whole experience. The Room was a very good size and had all we needed for our stay. Breakfast was included. The staff at reception were very friendly and helpful. The Hostel is a bit of a trek from the harbour but we were happy to walk everywhere and to be honest you will see a lot more of what Hong Kong is really like if you stay above ground. That said, there are two Subway stations within a short walk. The hostel does have it's own canteen if you want to eat there or you will find plenty of places to nearby. All in all, a good experience!

I had a room in fifth floor in which things seem normal. Local TV channels well received, beddings and decorative old Hong Kong items look clean and tidy. However, one of legs start itching after my stay, it almost forced me to find a skin doctor. By the way, water in the bathroom is quite weak. One interesting thing was that all guests had to return all begging items before checking out.

Last month I have stayed in Mei Ho House Hostel. Good community area good size double room, clean, bed quite rough has no bedside electric plug Limited cooking facilities in the kitchen When you check out, you still have to take all the pillow cases, duvet covers, bed sheets to the reception. They said this is a way to promote hostel culture. They charged almost the same price as a 3 star plus hotel for a double room.

Mei Ho House, a youth hostel in Hong Kong, is good place to stay for a few days. Almost perfect, but you must bring ear plugs, a medical certificate stating that you cannot sleep with closed windows and/or some tools. Our room was well-lit, clean and spacious, with a nice bathroom and an electric kettle. The bed was very comfortable. Wi-Fi connection was excellent. Breakfast, admittedly a very spartan affair, was included. Not to worry, there are several supermarkets in the area and you can use the communal kitchen. We simply got take-away food from a busy restaurant just down the road and had it in the courtyard. There is also a hill right next to the hostel, so do walk up there and enjoy your food with some beautiful views of Kowloon. What detracts from the pretty picture is piped music in most common areas. In addition, the building is poorly sound-proofed; we could hear other guests and furniture being shifted in a room above even at 3 in the morning. The staff were all very understanding and of course very unhelpful: unfortunately there was no room available for us to move to the top floor. Worst of all: the windows were locked and could not be opened. Policy or something, they explained. So — if you are claustrophobic or simply detest AC like I do — make sure you bring your tools or a medical certificate to get a window opened. Failing that, for ‘fresh’ air you can always jam a towel in the door frame. Almost perfect.

We stayed here for a month in a twin room. It is clean, safe and very quiet too. It was also large in comparison to other hotel rooms we have stayed in the city. Our room overlooked a small park. Breakfast was nice each day and there is a vegetarian option of muesli and soya milk. It is walking distance from three MTR stations. The nearest being Sham Shui Po and Shep Kip Mei but it is about 10 minutes from Prince Edward too. Very central to where we needed to be. We would stay here again.
