We stayed here for a month whilst relocating to Hong Kong; a lot of people will be pushed into Central/mid levels as that's seen as the expat natural habitat, but we wanted somewhere a bit more local.

Kornhill Apartments (renamed I think from Grand Plaza) are right by Tai Koo MTR, which makes getting into town a breeze. The apartments are clean and modern, with a decent size living room. A secure building on top of the Justco makes getting food etc easy.

Pluses include good, free wireless, secure building with 24 hour concierge, cleaning optional, dry cleaners across the road for your laundry, thick walls means that noise is very minimal

Drawbacks are no oven for cooking (but that's standard for HK - microwave and hot plates only, and justco can be manicallly busy if you try to go shopping at the wrong time. All in all, a great serviced apartment.

I was a little concerned that I had never heard anything about this hotel, but my friends in Hong Kong assured me that it was very nice. Our taxi driver at the airport didn't know how to get there, so I got even more worried. I asked to see our room before I agreed to stay, and the suite was beautiful! Huge rooms, very comfortable. Much nicer than I expected, much nicer than the two other big name hotels I stayed at on previous visits to Hong Kong! The hotel sits over the subway station, you can literally take the elevator to it. No wonder the cabby didn't know about it, the subway station is ultra convenient. This is where I will stay for my next foreseeable visits to Hong Kong.

My wife and I booked a one night stay at the Grand Plaza Hotel, Hong Kong. Unfortunately the booking was made for the day following our actual arrival. When we arrived at the Hotel, staff informed us that they had an identical room available, but wanted to charge us an additional $200 US. The staff also told us that we needed to contact the booking agency to change the date. As a result my wife had to make a telephone call to the UK, using a hotel telephone. The Hotel was later to charge us $50 for that call! While my wife was negotiating with the unhelpful staff, I was minding our children in the Hotel foyer. The foyer had about three or four staff members wearing black suits, prancing around the foyer, constantly berating children (including ours) about running around, being too noisy, having their feet on seats, etc. The manner of those staff members was totally inappropriate and Storm Trooper like. After about 90 minutes we were finally provided with an identical room to what we had booked, but charged the additional fee. The room was tiny and way overpriced. Breakfast is not included in the exorbitant fee. This hotel is very large and busy. Consequently it is quite noisy. The Hotel also had a staff member posted at the elevator foyer, who wanted to know what room number that you were staying in, every time that you used the elevator. Did not use the restaurant. Would never return to this hotel.

Handy location at Taikoo station with supermarkets, shops and restaurants nearby which is why we chose here..it's near work.

The apartment is large but drab and old...they are in the process of renovating apartments at the moment. We got a cheaper rate for staying 4 months BUT they did not inform us in advance of the renovations....we are moving because of the noise.

The noise and dust is awful from 10am to 6pm so be wary if you are considering staying here and will be in during the day. They say they should finish by September 2018.

Wifi is poor and intermittent, aircon doesn't work very well. Our fridge broke down and was replaced. The toilet and sinks regularly get blocked. Throughout the renovations, we lose electricty. They regularly require access for something or other...pest control, checking alarms, sprinkler systems etc. Water supply has been lost several times.

Although we are a couple in a 1 bed apartment, only one gym membership is included...a second one is very expensive. They offer one monogramed towel as a gift?!

There is a good gym but very few expats use it. The indoor pool is old and dated.

There are a couple of outdoor terraces which could be much better utilised if shade and seating were provided; but they have not been maintained.

I have brought these issues to management; they said sorry and gave us 4 cinema passes which doesn't come near making up for the inconvenience we experience daily.

We stayed at the Grand Plaza with some trepidation, seems like things we read were not great. But we were quite surprised, while it is indeed modern, it was extremely convenient, and nice and quiet. We were all there for a family reunion, so we needed different kinds of rooms- the suites were great for larger families, and meeting up. While there were fewer hotel amenties, they did have free Internet (which is GREAT). THey are very near a large grocery and department store, as well as connected to a large shopping mall, which had surprisingly good restaurants. The hotel is very clean, and the staff are very helpful. Also connected to the MTR, which is the cleanest subway system we had ever seen, and we have seen a lot.

This is a return trip for us. The rooms are aged and the room temperature control unit does not work. The gym is decent. Breakfast at the LaScala dissapoints - lack of choices and palate. The front desk however are a chirpy and friendly lot. Doubt I will return.
