My partner and I stayed in a one-bedroom flat in Shama Fortress Hill for six months, from September 2020 to February, for business reasons. The flat was perfectly proportioned and just about big enough for two people, and the roof terrace and gym were both excellent added perks too. The flats are cleaned daily and linen and towels are changed twice a week, which is very helpful.

The service, especially from Jonathan, Heidi and their colleagues at reception, was exceptional throughout, including when booking dates changed multiple times due to travel disruption.

Excellent location – a stone’s throw away from Fortress Hill MTR, and close to Victoria Park and Causeway Bay.

The only slight negative was the internet – at times it could be temperamental. At first it was extremely slow but the Shama team fixed this very quickly, although occasional niggles persisted. Generally adequate though.

Overall, I would highly recommend Shama Fortress Hill.

Cleaned convenient & great service, great location w 7-11 , toast box( Singapore Laksa chain) right opposite to MTR station.
Staff are excellent, not intrusive, and with great help & understand what business is. Great facilities with sma lounge, next to laundry room. Everything is so convenient. Minimum stay is 1 month. The cooking facilities is adequate, daily service. The life in Hong Kong are busy . So you don’t really have a big place

We lived in Shama Fortress Hill for over 6 months from January 2016 to July. The building design and layout is pretty efficient. The finish is a little tired but not excessively so and you can see that for yourself. Where they stand out compared to the previous serviced apartments in Hong Kong that we'd tried is the excellent service (and it wasn't bad in the previous place - it is Hong Kong after all!). All the team members from the head office for reservations/changing apartments/making payments, the cleaning and maintenance staff and especially the front desk were a pleasure to deal with and genuinely seemed keen to make your life easier and your stay enjoyable. They were very flexible and accommodating.
The location is very good apart from the availability of restaurants/bars in the immediate vicinity (but it's a short taxi ride or the MTR is right across the road). There are restaurants eg Simply Life round the corner but the selection is limited. Good selection of little shops (luggage shop opposite, various electronic shops roundabout) all the chains nearby eg 7-11 in building ,Mannings pharmacy, Fortress electronics opposite, Japan Home Stores etc
The laundry room is handy for stuff eg sports kit you don't want to send out to professional cleaning (which is dealt with efficiently)
The internet worked fine but is unsecured so you may wish to use a VPN.
There's a fairly big Wellcome supermarket opposite and a Jason's marketplace up the hill (lots of steps) on Cloud View Road that is smaller but has a greater selection of western cheeses, free range eggs etc
You can walk from the apartments to the Quarry Bay extension of the Tai Tam park in about 15 mins walk up hill to Braemar Hill Road and from there you can walk through the country park (entrance opposite Pacific Palisades 17 on Braemar Hill Road) to join the Wilson and Hong Kong trails with fantastic views if you fancy a hike or the Quarry Bay jogging trail.

The good: the rooms are small (like all property in HK), but it is perfectly formed - bed, bed/bathroom linen, kitchen utensils, electronics are all new and of high quality; great location next to MTR and a big supermarket; relatively cheap rent.

The bad: terrible internet (snail's pace at night); you can hear the street and the people in the rooms next door; the temperature of your water is often dictated by your neighbours; only 6-7 washing machines which get rather busy in the evenings.

I'd stay here again, but the internet slowness is a real issue - and the noise wouldn't suit light sleepers.

I stayed with my mother for 4 weeks in December-January. We were given room 5A sized 433sq ft, (there is no 4th or 14th floor!) which overlooked Oil Street. Being on the lower half of the building I could of course hear some street noise below, but I think the windows were soundproof and made the noise only barely noticeable. This IS Hong Kong you know!!

The reason I choose Shama was because the information specified queen sized bed. It did not disappoint. It was comfortable, roomy and clean. Other facilities I looked at specified double beds only, which I anticipated would've been too small. The room itself was clean but small, furniture was good and the bathroom was modern and clean. The kitchen area understandably was small but adequate, and provided clean utensils and cooking equipment.

Other highlights of this apartment were the wifi - speed was decent, better than I expected; laundry facilities were great; close to all forms of transport - MTR, trams and buses of many routes close by and supermarkets for supplies just across the road. Cityflyer route A11, the cheapest way to get to here from the airport is just across the road too. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and all spoke good English. The building's management office was staffed 24 hours, so we were able to check out at 6 in the morning. You could schedule housekeeping to clean your room every day (except Sundays) if you wanted to or when required just by phoning the management office. The self serve laundry was open all hours and free if you provided your own detergent.

There weren't any important downsides to the accommodation. The much touted rooftop garden was a disappointment though. It was sunny with many lounge chairs and bbq facilities, but I was hoping for a view overlooking King's Rd. There was none. The area was surrounded on all sides by high walls, understandably for security I suppose. Air conditioning did not have heating, so it was cold on some nights. Heaters are available from management if needed, but we did not get one. I'm not sure if there's an extra fee for this or not. There are no extra blankets available either. The water in the shower was very difficult to get the right temperature. Either it was way too hot, or if I just nudged the tap down a tiny fraction, it wouldn't be warm enough.

I really hope management keep an eye on and maintain the fixtures in the rooms. Some of the laminate on the cupboard doors and shelving I noticed was peeling and becoming separated and could risk the hotel beginning to look tired and poorly maintained.

All in all the stay was comfortable. Would I stay here again? Because of the comfy bed and nearby transport, YES definitely, if the price is still good when I return to HK again in a few years time.

I don't know how Shama do it but they have managed to find staff who are, without exception, friendly and helpful. This is a welcome surprise in HK where hospitality can be stony-faced and careless. I stayed here for 4 months and plan to come back later in the year. To the Shama management I send my congratulations - your team is a credit to you and really sets you apart from your competitors in Hong Kong. To the staff - thank you for looking after me.

I have been relocated to HK since Mar 2016, i rented a nice apartment for a very expensive price only to be kicked out in a year as the landlord wants to list the apartment to sell.

After talking to countless HK'ers and Expats, it seems this is quite common in HK, so you either live with it, keep moving in the same building or keep getting upping your rent and in some cases like mine no option to stay unless i buy the place!

I was in North Point and saw the reviews, and since time was running out, i bit the bullet and committed to Sham Fortress Hill.

The first day moving in i was met with a wonderful team on the 2nd floor explained everything to me. However for me, my experience started even earlier., as i was traveling in Cambodia when i received my landlords whats app giving me the famous 1 months notice. I was not planned to be back in HK for another 3 weeks which left me with 1 week to move and find a new place.

I made 1 phone call and within hours we were shooting emails back and forth and asking all kinds of questions, at times 10-15 questions, every single question always answered with a lot of details! Thank you so much Gloria, you know who you are!!

Since i travel so much, i am alway on the road, all i had to do is let them know and they always kept me updated via email, rent due, other bills or just touching base to see how i was doing, wonderful wonderful care and pampering.

For those that are just moving in or visiting to check out the rooms, don't get discouraged the first day, its a different world that living overseas or in an apartment, but trust me, within 2-3 days you will never want to move out!

Hot showers with tons of pressure, extremely clean room everyday Mon-Fri with fluffy towels. The bed, ahhh the bed is so comfortable and the daily made bed with 2 changes a week is heaven after a long days work! The room has everything you would need and plenty of closet space for those like me who have a lot of clothes. Heaters available on the cold days, and the AC is wonderful!

I can not say enough good things about the Shama management, very friendly and always going out of their way to make your stay even better. The services they offer make life so easy when you have a hectic schedule like me.

I highly recommend Shama Fortress Hill, the best service apartment i have lived in so far! Thank you Shama Team!!

I hope to be back in September!!

Just finished a 6 months stay in the Shama Fortress Hill.
Great staff (front of house and cleaning), clean rooms, a great location and very convenient for transport links (only 50 metres walk to the MTR (subway), close to tram stop and lots of buses).
Accommodation itself is compact, but lots of choices dependent on budget. Rooms are well maintained and have all the essential facilities (small fully equipped kitchen, wifi etc) in the rooms plus communal laundry facilities (washers and dryers), a small gym, pool room and lounge area. Despite being close to Kings Road the apartments are quiet inside. Ideal for those wanting a little bit more than just a hotel room.

This is a very modern, clean and well equipped service apartment in North Point. It is very conveniently located next to the Fortress Hill MTR and all around there are plenty of shops including supermarkets, cafes, restaurants, etc. The service apartment itself is very modern and clean. It is serviced everyday except for Sunday's and the staff are very friendly. There is also a a self service free laundry facility downstairs on level 2 which is very good.
