Harbour Grand Kowloon receives accolades for its spacious rooms with stunning views, though guests have called out cleanliness and maintenance issues. Its location is celebrated for convenient transport access and proximity to the city, while the attentive service staff stands out despite some check-in hiccups.
While the hotel's cleanliness and renovated atmosphere are well-regarded, criticisms arise over missing basic amenities and the comfort of seating. Many guests feel the hotel's value is diminished by unexpected charges and costly services.

We had stayed 2 months at a seaview room at Harbour Grand Kowloon since our stay last April to June. For some reasons, there was always a bumpy start upon arrival but got sorted quickly ever time.
We were glad to see the Residents Lounge had become what it was supposed to be instead of overtaking by ineligible hotel guests and outsiders as a busy meeting venue. Also, special thanks to one of the lounge's staff, Connie who always sorted out issues in an efficient, professional and assertive manner. She chatted with guests and created a friendly atmosphere and ”neighbourhood" at this lounge among guests. Well done her!
Our chamber maid Yuki had also done an excellent job in cleaning our room. We saw her constantly run off her feet but also would not hestitate assisting guests on issues out of her job responsibilities. She even made my husband to use his key card to open our room to ensure his identity when he went back whilst she was cleaning our room. A true hotel asset.
Concierge team was always helpful and polite. The boys were under excellent team leadership and were very motivated and proud of what they were doing. A great team.
Reception was more welcoming this time. Maybe they were under stressed or too focussed on what they were doing during our last visit. There was always a queue days and nights. We joked once to one of them you finally had no guest standing in front of you. We all laughted and said maybe for 10 minutes. That was on the 3rd week of our stay.
Besides hotel's location of easy access to public transport, the great seaview room, we enjoyed our stay was really due to the hotel's staff. We felt very much like from home to home.
We would like to make some suggestions for improvement if we could.
1. Can the gym/ spa / swimming facilities be charged by per visit if free access is not possible? This is important to most long stay's guests and many of us were disappointed about this complimentary facility had been taken away with a substantial rent increase.
2. Glass window of room may need a good clean ss suggested by other guest.
3. Chamber maid may need a long duster to go around the aircon vents and wall corners where dust was accumulated. Guest room maintained dusty even we wiped over the table and window sills ourselves everyday.
Anyhow, we had a lovely stay and would not hesitate to stay again in a heartbeat.

The views from this hotel are unparalleled. My parents' bedroom had a sweeping panorama view of the harbour, while our room looked out upon the city - but we were so high up that we were looking down on everything around us meaning that the light was in no way compromised. The cleaning lady was very helpful in making up the sofa bed for us and also stocking up our coffee supplies. Breakfast had a really good variety, however the staff started taking the labels away from in front of each hot plate just after 10am (not good for the vegetarians in our group as this meant the dietary info was not available) and the actual food at 10:15 - I thought this was quite poor considering when you pay for breakfast it is from 7:30-10:30 so the full selection should be available for the whole duration. The location is only a 15 minute drive from the cruise port, however during our stay we did struggle to find taxis willing to take us back at night as the taxi drivers wanted to travel in the direction of HK Island. Very short walk to the local metro station and also a 7/11 is just over the road which was very handy. There is a lack of casual seating space in the lobby if you need to wait there for any reason - instead there is a café but you are only allowed to sit down if you are buying beverages.

We had a great time and like our ocean view room. We will go back again. The restaurant at the lobby also looks very good and is very popular (i.e., long lines/queues at times). The ocean view at the lobby is also magnificent. Service has been very good too - no complaint. The only one thing that I could suggest improvement is to provide conditioner in the hotel rooms. Even though the shampoo is supposed to be 2-in-1, it does not serve the purpose of a conditioner. So my hair was bad (rough and somewhat tangled) during those few days. My husband suggested asking for conditioner from the front desk or housekeeping and I should have done so. After departure, I need to spend 1-2 days rescuing my hair with proper conditioning to get it back to normal. I guess the person who made the decision not to offer conditioner in the hotel rooms must be a male or someone with short hair as it’s hard to believe such an important item is not offered in the rooms but this can be easily fixed. Overall, it has been a great experience and we will return to this hotel the next time we are back in HK.

My partner and I visited in April 2024, and were extremely disappointed. Check in was very slow as most desks seemed to be closed even though there were a lot of people waiting. We assumed this may be a one off, but every time we walked through the lobby there seemed to be a huge queue.
The room was as expected when we arrived and we had a nice view (having paid extra for the Harbour view), and for the first couple of days it seemed to be fine. Then we found a cockroach in our room. My husband rand the front desk, and the first person he spoke to didn't seem that concerned, and just asked if we wanted someone to come and clear it away, or if we wanted to swap rooms. We of course asked to swap rooms, and had to pack our bags up and take them down to the front desk. We were upgraded to a suite in the other building, and whilst we were disgusted by the thought of cockroaches in the hotel, we hoped this might be far enough away and of a better standard. When we walked into the room it smelled quite damp, but we had plans for the day and had to drop off our things and leave. When we returned, the smell was still there and we noticed some spots of damp/mould on the ceiling. The bed sheets also felt quite damp, so we called the front desk again and explained this. The duty manager and another staff member came up, and we were told it was because the AC hadn't been on high enough that day, even though we hadn't touched the AC when we arrived. He took some photos, and when we returned the next day the spots had been cleaned or painted over, but the smell remained. The suite itself was in pretty poor condition, with a flickering light, scratches and marks on the walls and cushions, a screw sticking out of the wall and a lighting system that made no sense, especially since the pictures/writing on the switches had worn off. We were tired of complaining at this point, so kept the AC on high and only returned to the room to sleep.
I emailed the hotel when we returned and explained our experience, and they offered a free upgrade to a suite if we booked again in the next year. I explained that we had no intention of returning, as our stay had been so disappointing and we were not keen to return to a hotel with cockroaches and damp. They then offered some food credit, which we also said would not be used, as we had no desire to eat somewhere we knew had cockroaches. They then just stopped replying to emails, having apparently decided that their offers of compensation were good enough, and that as we completed the stay, no kind of refund was possible, even if the stay we had was awful. We had already paid a lot of money for the hotel and were in a foreign country. Looking to move hotels in the middle of our stay would have been very difficult and expensive, so we chose to just spend as little time in the Harbour Grand as possible, and didn't end up using any of the facilities. Extremely disappointing stay, and we will not be returning the next time we are in HK.

A curates egg of a hotel. Great location for views right by the harbour but minimal amenities around it. You have a bayside bar and grill, a Pizza Hut and some small Chinese restaurants and that’s it apart from the hotels on food. The Whampoa MTR is a two minute walk away so easy access to the city.
We had a harbour bay room on the 20th floor. These rooms come with a complimentary breakfast which was ok and a happy hour with free food and drink. It’s pour your own there so great value for the additional cost of the room. The snacks are things like chicken satay. Looked ok and plentiful enough for a reasonable meal if you wanted to avoid going out.
Our room, 2004, was clean and well maintained with amazing views over the harbour, especially at night. Very quiet and peaceful as well considering many weddings are hosted here.
There are plentiful taxis at the entrance, it’s about £30 from the airport and the metro is incredibly cheap, a few pounds gets you anywhere including back to the airport.
The hotel itself has a few signs of wear, the carpet could be better but the big problem for us and for other reviewers is check in. After a 13 hour flight you just want to get to your room. It took an hour to check in director the size of the queue. It’s a favourite hotel for those like us going on a cruise and there is a big queue for check out as well but luckily there is the option of express check out. We didn’t dine in the hotel so had no bill to pay but as we didnt swipe a credit card at check in would have had to have queued.
I’d certainly stay again and would pick the same room type but for me the delays in checking in are unacceptable, not all the counters were manned and for this it drops a star to four.

We've just returned from our second stay at Harbour Grand and we're delighted that it lived up to our previous experience.
It is located minutes away from Whampoa MTR and the ferry to from Hung Hom to Central so whilst not in TST, it's location was perfect for us.
We had a harbour view room (an upgrade to accommodate a disability) on the 9th floor which was pretty big and housed the three of us quite comfortably. Housekeeping was friendly and provided daily water - which was greatly appreciated due to the heat.
Our check in/out was smooth and we made use of the hotel limousine service for the pick up from the airport and move to our onward hotel. Whilst there are cheaper methods to get from the airport to the hotel, it made our lives much easier after our long flight.
Used the pool on this trip, didn't on the previous visit, and was great. 21st floor with fantastic views. Not too busy and easy to navigate. My only "criticism" would be the steps entering/leaving the poo itself. I have MS and found the height of the bottom step a little difficult to navigate on exit as is pretty high up.
We ate in the restaurant for breakfast on one occasion - great food choice and plenty of options. My husband ate in the Harbour Grill one night and really enjoyed the food
All in all a really pleasant return trip and hope isn't too long before we return.

Harbour Grand Kowloon Hotel is in a good location in Whampoa, with Aeon Supermarket, varieties of good restaurants, MTR station within walking distance. Concierge & most front desk employees are polite & knowledgeable, helped us the best they could with info about directions & transportations to certain places. Hotel has been recently renovated with newer furnitures & beds, very comfortable. Cleaning staff ( Jian & others ) did a great job, helpful & very understanding. Hotel services pretty speedy when we needed anything. Good overall experiences : our stay was like " a home away from home ".
Will be nice if Harbour Grand Kowloon has at least 1 luggage stand in each room. We arrived late at night, & found out there wasn't any. We called for one, thank goodness service was speedy.
Waiting for taxi outside the hotel on the day of my departure, 12/19/2024, was chaotic. First guest & his relative on wheelchair; I the second guest; were waiting for our turns, when some guests just barged out from the hotel & took our taxis. Fortunately, one good hotel employee ( Asian-looking in black jacket ) came out & restored everything in order. Hope the hotel can improve on that because some of us had flights to catch.

We all had a fabulous weeks stay at this hotel and was a convenient base for our sightseeing.
Pro’s The tower city view rooms were lovely and airy, I would say clothes storage other than hanging clothes was minimal, but the bed was huge and comfortable. The room was very clean and maintained that way. The location of the hotel meant the views of the harbour and the city were amazing, access to the MTR very easy and the staff were extremely professional and helpful.
Cons. First, when we arrived, checking was soo busy we were told to take a ticket and wait in a holding area till our number was called, an additional 40 minute wait having started our journey 19 hours previous wasn’t great. I understand that it was China’s Labour Day and start of their week break, but it was a slow process.
Secondly the hotel did some electrical work overnight which meant the power went off, all well and good as most people were asleep, however the air con went off, the clock and alarm powered off and worse the emergency lighting came on ( as it should) but lit up the room so sleep was practically impossible!
Third, I understand Hong Kong’s ‘Go Green Sustainability Practice’ which states, According to Hong Kong Government’s new law, "Product Eco-responsibility (Amendment) Bill 2023", effective from 22nd April 2024, hotels are not allowed to provide disposable toiletries and in-room plastic bottled water to guests for free, but can be provided upon request at a charge. However I do think a 5 star luxury hotel could provide refillable glass bottles in rooms as opposed to nothing.
Fourth , their coffee shop/ bar shut at 8.30
That sounds like a lot of cons but I’d give this 4.5 out of 5 if possible… the hotel can’t help that we arrived on Labour Day and were manic, the electrical testing I assume was a very infrequent event ( could have been done during the day though instead for minimal disruption. I bought water at the 7-eleven to sort point 3 and I don’t drink alcohol so the lack of bar wasn’t an issue, but a latte after a long day would have been nice 😊

So we stayed for a couple of nights over the Chinese New Year in February 2024. As the name suggests it is very large and grand hotel which is quite impressive as a first impression. As one might expect for a hotel of this nature it is very well positioned in Kowloon about a mile from the star ferry and is spotlessly clean. Our room was on the 19th floor and we had great views of the harbour. The room was quite a good size, the bathroom spacious and the queen size bed was very comfortable. ALL of the staff were polite, welcoming and concerned to ensure they were doing their best for us. Why then did we only rate it 3 out of 5? Basically, some essential elements were limited or missing. Rooms on the 19th floor have exclusive access to the executive lounge also on that floor. Unfortunately this only opened at select times but even when it was open, it left a fair bit to be desired. Seats in there were uncomfortable and it was arranged like a staff canteen. Food, when put out was extremely limited and nothing like we have experienced elsewhere. Drinks also were very limited, which was unfortunate as the hotel does not appear to have a bar which residents can enjoy, even if they are paying for the drinks. Also, there is no general area/ lounge in the hotel and the few seats scattered around the main reception are far from comfortable. Breakfast, which is served in the Promenade restaurant is a buffet as expected. The food was fine but the restaurant was again laid out like a staff canteen and was far from appealing to the eye. We didn’t eat main meals at any of the restaurants in the hotel because the charges across the Chinese holiday week end were excessive. Instead we ate at the pizza express opposite the hotel which was far more reasonable and did us proud.

We had a room looking out on to the harbour which was lovely - if the weather had been less misty it would be an amazing view. Our room was 32nd floor - we had asked for a high floor. It needed 2 different lifts to get to it, that was not an issue and there were usually lifts available without any wait. The swimming pool area was under maintenance, and our room looked directly down over it, which was not the most attractive. The wider view of the waterways, and the huge tower next door were great. Room was clean and the cleaning team were helpful. The bathroom had a full length privacy blind which was useful as it is a full glass wall, and it worked well once we had worked out all the various switches in the room. Check in queue was long, and it would help to have more desks open at busy times. At check in they had no record of our pre organised late check out, but they did look in to it and agreed, and quickly updated their paperwork. We had the buffet breakfast each day which was Ok, no where close to 5*. There was a wide choice on offer, not the greatest quality offering & 2 very slow coffee machines (not great coffee) and usually a number of people waiting to use them. The hotel location is close to MTR and buses and provided a great base of our 3 nights. We were able to get around easily & very cheaply on public transport once we had our Octopus cards. They were an essential buy as you can use them to pay in some restaurants and shops, they are easy to top up and you get the balance (less a small admin charge) refunded when you hand them back. There were several places to eat around the Whampoa area, and we enjoyed trying somewhere new for food each day. If you visit on the weekends there are lots of weddings groups arriving at the hotel, which were lovely to see, whilst waiting to check in. Overall the hotel a good base for a few days, but it was not in any way a 5* hotel experience.

As per time that period, they have not taken up transportation from airport train terminal to the hotel.
However it’s quite easy to get there.
Option 1 - AirPort Express to Kowloon Station and then a taxi ride to the hotel
Option 2 - Airport bus E23/E23A from airport to Tsz Wan Shan, but the stop you get off at is Whampoa Garden bus terminus. 3 minutes walk from Harbour Grand Kowloon.
Option 3 - Uber/taxi from airport. (Of course the most convenient way after a long flight.
"If possible guests should upgrafe to club room. This allows access to quiet club lounge, otherwise reception/restaurant area always busy, and not many places to sit"
