We stayed at the Vela Boutique Hotel for our 21-day quarantine. This hotel was truly terrible. The meals were alright (very local) but the variety was terrible – think noodles for literally every meal. I saw pictures of meals from other quarantine hotels and I was heartbroken when I saw that other people were getting fruit and even extras like welcome care packages. One day, we got sandwiches for lunch – that was the highlight! Besides this, the rooms are very small and very poorly ventilated, and it was clear that no one bothered dusting after the person before us left. They gave us one towel each for 21 days and seemed annoyed when we asked for more to be delivered. I see they're not on the list of quarantine hotels anymore – thank goodness – but even if they were a "normal hotel," I wouldn't stay there and I wouldn't recommend anyone else to.

This is not a hotel, it's more like a motel, the interior is nothing like the photos, really deteriorate, cracks everywhere, literally everywhere, walls, chair, bathroom, everywhere. The room is super small, the sunk is super tiny. the tiny fridge is not even cold, and the worst part is the Wi-Fi drops every 5 mins, the food they provided are unbearable, it's the worst motel i ever stayed.

The $100 room discounted to $49 and a free minibar sounds too good to be true. In my travels, a mini bar includes a couple beers, maybe some wine and if I’m lucky a can of coke. Little did I know mini bar in Hong Kong means two empty cups and two packets of peanuts. I chose wan chai over central as we were offered a free mini bar for one night-what an idiot! No good TV channels and clearly not a $100 room. False advertising 💯

Blow dryer switched on while we slept. The wind blow out loudly! Tried to switch it off but the switch was in OFF Status.... Called front desk and changed To another room. Had a rough night. Room is big with good view of the racecourse. 我們睡覺時吹乾機自己開了,呼呼的吹。驚慌失措的想去把它關掉,但發現它的開關是在關的狀態。 叫前台給我們轉房 經歷了一個艱難的夜晚。 房間很大,可以看到賽馬場。

If you're looking to stay somewhere on a budget, The Vela Hong Kong Boutique Hotel is the place! The view from my room isn't the absolute greatest however, The Vela does offer rooms with much better views of the city but let's face it, if you're here for the view then leave your room and go explore!
