Detailed Reviews
Very unpleasant stay, to everyone who is planning to stay in this hostel, please think twice.
Hop Inn is located in a very old building, not easily to locate. Based on this, do not expect top notch quality, even with the reviews given by others. We are assigned the worst room of Hop Inn Carnavon.
On arrival, we are assigned a room next to the common room (it's the room where people can mingle around) that I can say its the worst of all. Guest voice was so loud that you will have difficulties sleeping. To everyone, hop inn sell ear plug over the counter, you can guess why they sell them!
On the first night, there's a breakdown of flashing of toilet bowl. I am told to pour the water from the shower head to the toilet bowl water container and flash the toilet bowl! What is this service???
The counter lady told me that it is temporally and it will be ready by midnight. Guess what, that's her end of her midnight shift and a young chap took over her duty when I made a complaint at 11:45pm. The service level at this hostel is that bad, pushing the blame to other service crew! Till 4am it's still not working.
Aircon condenser is very noisy, it is just beside your sleeping bed and light sleeper will not be able to sleep.
Next, shower head water pressure is very low.
Overall, the price I pay, I rather give a bit more for a better stay in nearby Nathan hotel or predential hotel. Think twice before booking this HOSTEL!! You never know what kind of room you will be assigned, esp the service attitude of the staff!!!!

Response from Hopinn, Owner at Hop Inn
Responded 22 May 2013
First of all, we are very sorry for bringing you an unpleasant stay. Regarding the temporarily suspension of toilet water on your first night arrival, we are very sorry for the inconvenience had caused. The suspension was caused by the street water pipe breakdown where all buildings along the block was affected. During the time, our front desk staff was contacting both the building management & the water department trying to get the latest updates on the maintenance progress. Both parties advised that toilet water supply would be resumed by midnight. Unfortunately, the supply wasn't resumed until 4am at last. Again, we are very sorry for the inconvenience had caused & we shall seek improvement on how to handle this kind of emergency in future. Thank you for your kind understanding. Simon Hop Inn

I am from Mumbai,India and me and my wife recently went to hong kong and stayed in HopInn at their hankow road branch at Hanyee Building , 2nd floor for 7 nights and at HopInn at their James Lee Mansion,9th Floor,Carnarvon road Branch for 2 nights.
First impression Hop Inn hankow road looks like a floor converted into 9 or 10 rooms with attached shower and toilet, more like a university hostel.Room size is compact as real estate in hong kong tsim sha tsui is extremely expensive so with a reasonable price and free wifi, free drinking water, umbrellas and hair dryer, iron provided on returnable basis, this is a very practical and affordable place to stay.the metro station tsim sha tsui is one minute walk, restaurant lane is behind with indian restaurants, turkish, chinese, moroccan, continental all there in one minute walk.Starbucks is inside I Square mall one minute walk. They have discounted tickets for tourists for various sight seeing attractions like Ocean Park,Victoria Peak,Disneyland,Ngong Ping Cable Car 360.These tickets can be purchased once you check in.The check in time is 2.30 pm, and check out time is 11.30 am but you can leave the luggage and move around in Hong Kong.If rooms are available they allow you to check in early as well.It is a very safe place to stay. The most important factor to stay in Hopinn is that it is a secured and affordable place in the heart of Hong Kong. There is no breakfast, lunch or dinner facility.Newspapers magazines are available for reading at the reception. We did lot of research before zeroing down to stay at Hopinn as we were looking for a safe secured family atmosphere at a decent price.
HopInn carnarvon Road is bigger and space is more inside the rooms.Facilities are same.Hankow Branch is closer to the sea, star ferry, avenue of stars, and all the shopping. Hopinn Carnarvon Road branch is nearby,5 to 7 minutes walk from the hankow branch. We took the bus A 21 from Hong Kong Airport Ground Transportation Centre from Terminal 1 and the bus stop to get down at hankow branch is middle street which is 5 minutes walk from hopinn hankow branch , you have to cross the street and walk straight till you reach the adidas shop.Hopinn is in the same building on the second floor next to a camera shop .Buy an Octopus card at the airport so that you donot have to buy tickets on subway trains, buses or ferry. It is also accepted at various 7-11 outlets , medical stores and can be recharged at subway stations, and 7-11 outlets.Overall our long stay in HopInn was made comfortable by Koyuki and her pleasant friendly colleagues at the reception. We never got a feeling that we were staying in some hotel. It was more like an university hostel. If we happen to visit Hong Kong again we will definitely stay in Hopinn
Pros- Excellent location at affordable price, homely atmosphere, everything is available in 1 or 2 minutes walk
Cons- Nothing to complain at this price and location
We recommend Hopinn for all -if you are looking for more space in rooms and little away from the shopping area then stay at Carnarvon Road. The price at Hopinn Carnarvon Road is a little more than Hopinn Hankow Branch.

Habitación minúscula y ruidosa con buena localización. Quizás merece la pena pagar un poco más e ir a un hotel como Dios manda. No entiendo los "excelentes" y los "muy bien". Si eres hipster te va a gustar la decoración

My family of four stayed 4 nights with Hop Inn Carnarvon and it is the best choice ever. We have a bit of difficulty finding the place as my hubby didnt follow the instructions provided (he choose to exit the TST using N2 rather than A2 as directed.
However, we are very happy with the room, it is a simple ikea styled rooms with amply rooms to put 3 large suitcases and sleep 4 pax comfortably. The walls are painted with artworks, there is a common room for r&r with board games and storybooks, dvds for entertainments. There is also a patio for drinks, breakfast outdoors or a smoke (for smokers). Otherwise, the rest of the areas are strictly non-smoking which is great! There is also security features, and CCTV all over. If you are forgetful like me (forgot to being the key card), the staff will swipe you in after you stand outside the door for like 3 mins (hubby in the shower inside the room).
The staffs are friendly, willing to answer questions, disneyland tickets are also available for sales (no need to queue). Most importantly, there is a underground supermarket, Circle K and 7-eleven on both sides of Hop Inn in even of emergency! There's McDonald just across the road, a Tsui Wah Cafe within 5 mins walk, plenty of foods, desserts, snacks dotted all around! If you need a bit of extra cash, the Money Changer is just downstairs, Hop Inn is located on the 9th Floor.
You can even choose to walk to Ave of Stars, Sky Ferry Terminal or the City Harbour Shopping Malls within 10 mins! Even through there is no fitness center in Hop Inn, there is a park nearby to run, you can even run along the Ave of Stars! The TST MTR is located like 3 mins walk away and its one of the Interchange!
At the end of our stay, the staff also help us to pre-book a cab to the airport as long as you ask, they will try to deliver. Notice to pre-book cab is 30mins.
A good choice!

I never have left a bad opinion on a hostel I stayed, but boy oh boy, today im losing my virginity on this. Please buckle up, and join me in this sad tale.
I stayed with my wife and my 2 year old boy for 3 days. I selected this place because it was under the highest scored places with a private room while being "kid friendly". Also, the photos looked good and had good comments.
The pictures were really deceptive. While the hostel is located in a run-down, half destroyed building on the fifth floor, nothing looks as it is actually is. Whoever designed this hostel had 0 taste. Concrete walls with no colour, large sheets instead of doors, and some really weird and ugly paintings on the walls everywhere.
The problems began even before we got to our room. First, we arrived at noon from the airport, and they send us off to the street because "the check in time is at 2". Alright, our bad. When we came back after lunch we had to wait an extra hour until 3, outside on the hallway, because they were not ready yet. Not cool when is so hot outside. The indoor AC didnt help either, as it looked they keep it at the lowest posible speed for saving money.
Although the place is listed as kid friendly, the facilities were full of garbage, like empty glass bottles, dirty buckets, little ugly things on the walls, dirty windows, bathroom full of paint cans, or even plants on the ground. Can you imagine dear reader how easily the admin did hate us for having a kid in their kid friendly place playing with all those things.
The private room we got was small, like stupid small. The 3 of us didnt fit on the bed. Later, as i had to sleep on the floor, I asked for an extra pillow or mattress, but surprise, they dont have extra pillows, or even a blanket.
In the website, they offer a kitchen to use, and free coffee. But unfortunately they didnt have spoons, so all coffee was made using a spork.
The common bathroom didnt help, as it looked like they only used water to clean the floor.
On their small (really small) common area they had some information related to some free tours. I went to 2 off them, but surprise, the maps that they offer are pre-covid so all meeting places were wrong. I loose the chance to visit some places in my short stay in hong kong.
The next day my kid got sick, and they did not want to offer any information related to hospitals. I had the luck of having a friend who could help me with an address. Also, as my kid vomited on the bed, they angrily confronted me demanding money for changing the sheets (and towels and water bottles).
In short, their attitude towards us was aggressive during our complete stay. We are coming back to hong kong in a month and we have a 2 days non-refundable booking with them. I prefer to loose my money before going back.
if you manage to read up to this point please AVOID this place. I will try to left a complaint in the tourism burou, plus hostels.com for being such a aggressive, low quality, unhealthy dirty place.

Loved it. We booked a double room at the Carnarvon branch, during our last 2 nights in HK. I’ve never stayed in a hostel before so I was pretty worried. Turned out it was a really good place to stay in Kowloon, HK. The room size was almost the same as the bona fide hotel we stayed in during our first three nights in Hong Kong (that is to say—small)
Overall: Will stay here the next time I visit HK. Will recommend this place to anyone exploring HK on a shoestring. :)
Pros:
- Staff (from the people manning the front desk to the housekeeping lady) spoke English well and smiled a lot. In fact, the front desk folks here spoke better English than in the bigger, more expensive hotels.
- Very, very clean and pretty room. Artsy, comfortable and fresh. We had our own bathroom, and it was just as clean.
- Common room is well-stocked with DVD’s and books that we can borrow, a Foosball table, a terrace/garden (for people who want to smoke or have a bit of air, I think), wide selection of beers/ale, and other games.
- Free WiFi!!!
- Right next to a 7-11, snack stall, restaurants, and on the ground floor of the building is a money changer.
- A 3-minute walk from the Tsim Sha Tsui MTR exit. A 5-minute walk from the bus stop where we took the airport bus.
Cons:
- Small pillows.
- Safety deposit boxes are located outside the room (near the front desk).
- Took us a while to find it using the map in the reservation email/website.

Its on the 9th floor, and yeah there is an elevator👌🏽
yeah, you could.
they also allow you to leave your luggage even after you've checked out and come back for them later on.
There is a mosque (Kowloon Mosque and Islamic Centre) near the Tsim Sha Tsui Station/Haiphong Road which is more or less a 10-minute walk from Hop Inn. For the room, I think they now have large rooms in their Hankow branch but you should confirm this with them since large rooms are usually booked in advance.
At Hop Inn Hankow, cooking is not allowed as well. I suppose, even at Hop Inn Mody Road, they don't allow you to cook too.
