I never have left a bad opinion on a hostel I stayed, but boy oh boy, today im losing my virginity on this. Please buckle up, and join me in this sad tale. I stayed with my wife and my 2 year old boy for 3 days. I selected this place because it was under the highest scored places with a private room while being "kid friendly". Also, the photos looked good and had good comments. The pictures were really deceptive. While the hostel is located in a run-down, half destroyed building on the fifth floor, nothing looks as it is actually is. Whoever designed this hostel had 0 taste. Concrete walls with no colour, large sheets instead of doors, and some really weird and ugly paintings on the walls everywhere. The problems began even before we got to our room. First, we arrived at noon from the airport, and they send us off to the street because "the check in time is at 2". Alright, our bad. When we came back after lunch we had to wait an extra hour until 3, outside on the hallway, because they were not ready yet. Not cool when is so hot outside. The indoor AC didnt help either, as it looked they keep it at the lowest posible speed for saving money. Although the place is listed as kid friendly, the facilities were full of garbage, like empty glass bottles, dirty buckets, little ugly things on the walls, dirty windows, bathroom full of paint cans, or even plants on the ground. Can you imagine dear reader how easily the admin did hate us for having a kid in their kid friendly place playing with all those things. The private room we got was small, like stupid small. The 3 of us didnt fit on the bed. Later, as i had to sleep on the floor, I asked for an extra pillow or mattress, but surprise, they dont have extra pillows, or even a blanket. In the website, they offer a kitchen to use, and free coffee. But unfortunately they didnt have spoons, so all coffee was made using a spork. The common bathroom didnt help, as it looked like they only used water to clean the floor. On their small (really small) common area they had some information related to some free tours. I went to 2 off them, but surprise, the maps that they offer are pre-covid so all meeting places were wrong. I loose the chance to visit some places in my short stay in hong kong. The next day my kid got sick, and they did not want to offer any information related to hospitals. I had the luck of having a friend who could help me with an address. Also, as my kid vomited on the bed, they angrily confronted me demanding money for changing the sheets (and towels and water bottles). In short, their attitude towards us was aggressive during our complete stay. We are coming back to hong kong in a month and we have a 2 days non-refundable booking with them. I prefer to loose my money before going back. if you manage to read up to this point please AVOID this place. I will try to left a complaint in the tourism burou, plus hostels.com for being such a aggressive, low quality, unhealthy dirty place.

Correspondence with Hop Inn was great. Check-in was OK. When you ask what you can visit or do at night since it's your first time, you get a map but no advice. The place looks like a hostels for young hippies. The bedroom? Oh well...it looks like a kid's room with paintings on walls full of damages that fortunately the paint covers. The room stinks like mildew because a smell comes from the pipes in the bathroom. I's terrible! Regarding the bedding, the bed is 1,90 from wall to wall. I doubt that the sheets were fresh but if they were, the smell and stains didn't give me that impression. The bathroom is "practical", the shower curtain is too short at the bottom and the floor gets wet everywhere. The fixtures are completely outdated and the shower head doesn't hang on the wall once you turn on the water. Besides, at the time of check-in, I wasn't told to turn on the switch for the boiler. Check-out time at 10am and no one at the reception.

I had to cancel because my flight got cancelled because of the corona virus. Booked for 3 nights. The hostel didn't do anything to help me, they only wanted my money, and I didn't get any refund, eventhough I cancelled 5 days after booking and more then a month before my stay. Worst service I ever got! Do not stay here, this place is only after your money!!

Stayed here for 3 nights in a double room. It was clean and perfect for our needs. The reception personnel were fantastic regarding the riots, they pointed out no go areas for the day and they made our trip go smoothly. The communal room was cosy and welcoming and had lots of books, maps, fridge , free water etc. If looking for a hostel then definitely recommend taking a look at the hop inn.

We have recently just left Hop Inn after a week's stay. The staff were friendly, security was good and the roof top terrace was lovely. A little lacking in atmosphere perhaps but as I travelled with my partner, that wasn't a huge issue for us. The location is perfect though. Just off from the Nathan Road, it's a short walk from the harbour and Jordan. Loads of food options around and just across the street from the famous Mammy Pancake. Room and bed are a little small but from what I can gather, that is pretty much Hong Kong standard.

On the whole the overall stay at Hop Inn was pleasant. It had all and what I expected. Fortunately I decided to book the twin room for myself, it would be a little bit of a squeeze if there was another person in the room. I particularly enjoyed the roof top garden, very nice plants; and I appreciated the security (in the evenings the door to the cluster of rooms would be locked and only accessible with your keycard). The different persons at the reception and the cleaners were nice and friendly. On the downside, The room is definitely small, and the bath area as well. The No "toilet roll" in the toilet is kinda confusing ( I have been to places whereby we cannot throw the toilet paper in the toilet as the sewage for the city is old and causes toilets to choke), I did feedback to Hop Inn on this. It would have been nice if the replies about the current situation in Hong Kong were a bit more comforting (less rigid), given the current protest (but it is really not a big deal, it was not rude or anything)

We were supposed to book other hotels around TST, but it was rather expensive. We came across this hostel and thought to give it a try. When you look at the photos online, you wouldn't have ever expected the room to be that small, but hey, you pay the price for being able to rent a room that cheap. ;) We booked a room with 2 single beds. The beds were quite small. The room we booked had the beds placed one further near the window, one below the other bed, so pretty much you walk a straight line from the door to window. If you're sleeping on the bed further away from the television, you can watch the telly at the right angle while you're laying down. BUT if you're laying on the bed below the telly, you'd have to stand up to be able to watch the telly. The reflection and glare of the telly at the angle where you lay down closer to the telly doesn't allow you to see anything in it. The bathroom was quite big. You could easily move around. When it comes to the space of the room, you can't open your big luggage fully, the other half of your luggage needs to rest against the wall, so you'll have to pack one side at a time (you'd have to pack the side where you zip it first before the side where you use the clasp or your stuff will fall out when that side is rested against the wall). We really liked the common area where you can use they have free coffee and tea if you want. There are cups, mugs, chopsticks, all sorts of utensils you can use, you just need to wash them after you use them. There's a common fridge where you can store your drinks or food, you'll just need to label them. You can wash your own clothes and hang them outside or do the laundry and pay to use their machines if you choose not to wash your clothes on your own. They have a balcony where you can sit and drink/eat. They've got books, games, console games, dvd, that you can check out in the common area. What we really liked about this place is that they allow you to store your luggage there even after you check out, and they allow you to still use the common area (for those who might need to do some last minute packing). Overall, I think this place is great if you're on a tight budget and need to sleep and shower and small space is not much of an issue.
