The Upper House is a highly individualized small luxury hotel designed by Hong Kong architect Andre Fu. The hotel’s 117 rooms (including 21 suites and 2 penthouses) start at 730sq ft – the largest in Hong Kong. They feature wonderfully spacious bathrooms and dressing areas, and offer either scenic harbour or island views. Calming and contemporary, the rooms are designed to provide a sense of relaxation, warmth and understated luxury.

The Upper House Hong Kong is located on the upper floors of a high-rise building on top of the luxurious Pacific Place mall, which is diectly connected to the Admiralty MTR station as well as Hong Kong Park. This is very convenient on the one hand, its surroundings are pretty serene on the other hand. What more could you wish for locationwise?

Even though our arrival was not too pleasant in the first place with bellmen neither greeting nor helping with the luggage, our upgrade to an Upper Suite was very generous, and Paul's welcome tour, as well as the generous welcome drinks and gifts quickly let us forget.

The Suite in the most beautiful design imaginable and with stunning views of Victoria Harbour was just unforgettable - beyond words.

Being one of the original André Fu designs, the optical appeal of the room exquisitely corresponded with our design taste.

Also the bathroom with its amazing bathtub, rain shower and lovely amenities was amazing. Sometimes the beauty of the room made it hard to even leave it at all.

Even more tempting to "stay inside": the complimentary minibar filled with a whole lot of beer and soft drinks.

Minor criticism must be expressed about the rather uncomfortable bed and lacks of cleanliness in some parts of the room. Nonetheless, service, be it via phone or at the door (thank you so much for all the lovely chats and great tipps, Janice!!!), was a dream.

At breakfast, proactive service and friendliness could be improved though, whereas the quality of food and beverages was excellent. The same was true for our in-room lunch.

For our goodbye, a complimentary ride to Hong Kong station was arranged by Lewis proactively, such a great gesture!

In total, the spa-like room atmosphere, the amazing décor and service, as well as incredible views convinced us even more than six years ago, when we first spent some nights at Upper House. Unforgettable and absolutely recommended!!

A definite wow factor in terms of the room, great views layout and design which makes it feel open, light and spacious.

The studio is well suited to working and every detail is appreciated by the well thought out areas, bathroom and bathtub was elevated and felt like a spa, the closets feel like a walk in wardrobe with plenty of space and mirror.

The room itself has some great views made even better with the cushions on the wide window ledges, to allow you to enjoy the view

But best of all was the service, great friendly staff from the communication prior to check-in, to the check-in and room service. The housekeepers did a wonderful job to make you feel at home. Such as cleaning up some things and leaving the things you might need when returning where you left them. It feels like your mom cleaned your room with all the thoughtfulness and attention to detail.

Things like having ice bucket the first night and after turndown they refilled the ice for when we returned after dinner at Cafe Grey.

It certainly paid to book it in advance and the view and seating was amazing with a great view and interior which changed as the daylight turned to night.

As for the food, the lamb was delicious, it's true skill when the lamb doesn't have any of that strong scent but all the flavour. The wine pairing was excellent.

In the morning we booked a yoga session but as it was raining outside it was moved inside and Janet gave a very good yoga session with a gentle flow which helped all the levels in the class.

All in all can highly recommend a stay at upper house. It seems that it caters well for all lengths of stay from staycation to a long term. It did seem some people stay for a while.

The coffee machine and toaster in the room was enjoyable too!

We have just finished a 4 day family trip to Hong Kong staying at The Upper House with our 3 yr old and 4 yr old. The staff and hotel went above and beyond to make our kids and family feel incredibly welcome and our first time in Hong Kong experience so special. Prior to our arrival we had heard that there would be a large protest around the area of the hotel so were a little worried arriving with our toddlers. The hotel organised the car to drop us off in a safe area, and 4 hotel staff swiftly walked our family and luggage through a plaza and safely to the hotel taking us direct to our room without seeing any protest or disruption. Sharon checked us in within the room so we didn’t have to wait around a lobby after a long flight from Sydney which was very much appreciated. We were luckily upgraded to a suite which was the most beautiful room. It was huge, the largest we have ever stayed in with a fantastic view and the most incredible bath overlooking the city. They showered us with gifts including items and food for the kids, leather pouch and suit bag and a framed photo of my son and husband. The hotel and room design is stunning, the joinery and detail and finishes are flawless. The beds are so comfortable and the lighting in the room is fantastic with shadow lighting highlighting the room. We ate breakfast at Cafe Grey the following morning which was delicious and Hotel staff member Kevin ( guest experience manager) came to our table to introduce himself and apologise for the disruption to our arrival the prior day. Kevin was fantastic in helping us with our itinerary for the trip, he connected with me over WhatsApp and sent messages throughout our days to see if we needed help with anything and was always on hand to book anything we needed like a junk boat trip and dinner recommendations. Kevin had also organised surprise desserts to our room for the kids so that when we got back from a day of sightseeing the kids had a surprise waiting for them with a hand written card from Kevin. Such beautiful gestures and things they will remember. My daughter said she wanted to stay there forever. I can’t thank the Upper House enough for making our first trip to Hong Kong so special, we absolutely loved it and will be back. Highly recommend to families for the generous rooms, location close to Hyde park, shopping malls and public transport. The service and hotel design is second to none.

I booked a weekend staycation to celebrate my wife's birthday. A few days before the anticipated day, I got a pleasant email asking if the hotel could send a car to pick us up. Yes of course was my immediate response :) What a nice gesture! We were picked up by a BMW X5 which had a pleasant driver who loaded our luggage (including my son's bag of toys). The chill out music in the car was a nice touch as music definitely influences our emotions. 3 bottles of mineral water were made available to us in the car. The driver dropped us off to our lunch venue first and proceeded to drop our luggage at the hotel.

We got to the hotel after lunch and was swiftly handed our keys (check in took like a whole 3 mins) and brought to our room by Jess who pleasantly showed us around the room. Our bags were already placed in the walk in dresser area. They had prepared a box of colour pencils, a colouring book, kids snacks and amenities for our son. Later that evening, they brought over a small birthday cake for my wife.

The room has all the amenities to allow one to relax, laze and be pampered which is exactly what we did. The Bamford toiletries were very luxurious and elegant. There was more than enough complimentary beverages and snacks. The coffee was of high quality whilst the tea offered was Jing.

The in room entertainment system had more than enough movies for one to binge on and music playlists. A decent speaker system was the bonus.

We didn't feel like heading out for dinner and ordered food via Food Panda which the hotel graciously brought up for us. They even reheated our son's pasta from lunch.

At breakfast the next day, we ordered a breakfast set for our son (as the package only came with breakfast for 2). After breakfast, we preceded to continue to enjoy the room which was cleaned (bed made, towels changed, amenities, drinks and snacks refilled) until our late check out at 4pm.

Check out was also swift and effortless and we were accompanied by Jess and Sebastien whilst we waited for our car. By the way, they waived our son's breakfast charge which was generous of them. Before we knew it, we were in the car on our way home.

If you wanted me to tell of a downside, it was probably just that tiny clump of dust which my wife noticed near the sprinkler in the bathroom.

Our son says that he would like to continue living here...so I guess it's definitely a place we will return to!

Dear RonaldK1598, Just WOW! Thank you for sharing this thorough and thoughtful review online 😊. I think that a good staycation starts from the second you leave your home, hence the importance of an appropriate welcome and greeting. I am happy that our driver and hotel car managed to do just that! With our special selected playlist to give you a feeling of Zen before you even make it to our front door. Also what kind of start would it be if you had to lug your bags around at your lunch. Of course as you were here for a special day it was only right for us to make it special too. Of course one way of making things easier is to help the little one to keep busy so that you don't have to! I am sorry that you did find some dust in the room. But I am happy to know that was the only downside to your stay. Next time around I will make sure we get it perfect! Please next time you are interested in a little getaway at “Our House” or any other Swire hotel do not hesitate to reach out to us! Since we were grounded in Hong Kong from the Covid 19 pandemic, we decided to celebrate our anniversary in Hong Kong. Upper house have been a hotel we had wanted to check out for a while, and it exceeded our expectations in every way!
Reservations was smooth, and the weather updates and asking about our preferences before the stay was a sweet touch.

We were picked up by the hotel's town car, and whisked up to our upgraded room (complimentary!) for check in and a tour of the room. Love the warm feeling the interior and the orange lighting brings to the room. Not to mention the spectacular view that can be enjoyed both when lying on bed, on the sofa or in the bath.
The bamford toiletries kit was a nice touch, love the smell. To my surprise, there's even an exfoliator and lip balm in the pouch!
Appreciate how everything in room is spotlessly clean (trust us, we know for sure since we disinfected the room again ourselves to play safe), including the yoga mat provided =P The room comes with a 'maxi bar' which is really true to its name given the unlimited options of soft drinks and snacks. My favorite are the milano biscuits ^^ As a person with a constant sweet tooth, it would be nice if there were more chocolate options, but the options offered are really generous, and refill comes fast upon request ;)

The room is awesome, but nothing can compare to how welcoming and special the staff made our anniversary. ^^ First, we were gifted a photo frame with our photos, then we were surprised by a cake, personally brought in upon our return to room after dinner, the timing is so perfect =0 (if it were brought in later, we might feel a bit intruded of our privacy) we suspected they have every staff remember all the guests staying in haha, The best part is that she brought it in personally so she can take a photo for us to remember the stay by, what a lovely momento to take home. We were so touched!

To make a lasting impression on us, the breakfast was made to order, but unlimited as well, and comes with an impressive view too! I especially love the short rib benedict, while my man loves how fresh the juice and smoothies tasted.

Before departure, we checked out the lounge to appreciate the possible views we could get if we were to return. Though the fire place wasn't lit, it still oozes a warm yet grand charm, our intention was to have a look only, but the selection of books caught our eyes and caused us to linger for a while.

In conclusion, our staycation was perfect and memorable, from the room itself, the staff, lounge and food at cafe gray.
One small flaw was that we had a club sandwich from room service, and as a person who prefers crunchy bread, i find the bread quite soft and moist. Hope we can check out the gym as well on our next visit!

This hotel was recommended by my savvy travel agent when I told her I wanted to stay in the Admiralty area on this particular trip to Hong Kong. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute at the House, even the jet-legged hours in the middle of the night as my room was so comfortable.

I was greeted at the side of the cab by three staff members, who helped me check into my room and carried my luggage for me. (I am not sure how they knew I was checking in!). Everything is so well-appointed and thoughtful, from the lush carpet, complimentary bottled still water, coconut water and milk in the fridge to transparent bags to carry bottled liquids onto the plane, to the laptop desk on the side of the sofa, to the reusable shopping bags.

I have stayed in many high end hotels belonging to part of hotel chains previously and have received excellent service. The Upper House provides something else though. It is the ambiance and calmness that I appreciate. I never heard anyone pass by my hotel door. The housekeeping staff is discreet and efficient. I never saw anyone hovering to see when they can clean my room. On the first morning after my arrival, I had an early morning meeting in Central. There wasn’t any cab around, so the hotel took me to my meeting in its BMW shuttle.

It was so calming to step into the hotel after my many meetings. I normally would not invite friends to go to my hotel room on travels, but this time it was different because the space was so welcoming. My friends in Hong Kong enjoyed visiting me in my room, which felt like a spacious apartment.

Café Gray is located on the 49th floor of the hotel. One morning, I ate breakfast on my own and was given a table for two. My only complaint about Cafe Gray is that the smaller tables are very close together and I could hear everything the was said at the next table.

As I had planned a breakfast with old friends on my final day, I reserved a table and asked and was given a quiet corner. My friends, who have been to the restaurant, told me that it was the best table at the restaurant! My trip was capped off with a 3-hour+ breakfast with friends I had not seen for years. We laughed and talked a lot. Although it was after 11 am when we left, nobody rushed us. It was perfect.

I have had a superb experience at the Upper House. Any thing you dream of in a luxurious hotel they have it for you. The beauty about it is that it all comes with the refined human touch that makes you feel at ease and fully satisfied.
All the staff are very skilled and very friendly. They go the extra miles to make you feel comfortable and at ease. It all comes naturally and with gentle warmth
The room is very spacious and spotless. It is more like a studio with a very comfortable bed, a beautiful bathroom with a separate toilet and a small dressing cupboard room. It would be hard to thing of anything you need which is not provided
The Cafe Gray is a beautiful restaurant at the 48th floor of the hotel with a stunning view over the harbour and Kowloon. It is an excellent way of starting the day with a breakfast. I have not tried the restaurant in the evening but as I have heard it enjoys a very good reputation in Hong Hong
The only thing lacking in this exceptional hotel is the large spacious salons however who needs these salons if you have got a lovely comfortable room with good view regardless where it overlook and all the room are fully furnished with all sort of included drinks and snacks

My bf surprised me with a staycation for 2 nights at the upper house. The upper house exceeded my expectations on so many levels! I have to say the stay was superb, probably one of the best stays you can find in hk. Amazing harbour view together with the high rise landscapes of hk was something to die for.
We were greeted by Jess who was welcoming and nice. She gave us a nice room tour, introducing all the amenities available and even provided nice restaurant names nearby since the restaurant in-house was currently under renovation. We felt extremely welcomed by her.

Room was really spacious and packed with nice amenities. Mini bar and snack box were loaded and most of the items were free of charge. Both of them were refilled during house keeping on the second day. They provided bath salt for soaking in the bathtub too and that was also refilled during housekeeping.

Our package stay included breakfast which was served in The Continental(2-3 mins walk from hotel lobby). We chose the upper west breakfast and Japanese for the first day and upper East+ Japanese on the second day. Food and service were both great.

I would also like to thank Jess and her team for being so vigilant and caring to present the surprise bday cake in the room just in time while we went out shortly to take our takeaway. I was extremely pleased that they went their way out to make sure it remains a surprise because I sure didn’t expect a cake to be served in the room within the short timeframe!

Another point to compliment is how efficient they were when we ordered a foodpanda delivery to our hotel. We know that the delivery courier was not allowed up so we were actually expecting the hotel to phone us down or deliver it to us(in their convenience). To our surprise, the food was delivered to our room within 2 minutes from the time on the foodpanda app. Service was super efficient and attentive. Extra bottles of water and popcorn were also delivered within 5 minutes when we requested them.

All in all, upper house was really worthy. I would definitely recommend anyone to spend their special day in this exceptional hotel.
Kudos to all the staff that makes this hotel so impeccable!

Have read a lot about the hype surrounding this hotel, only to find the service largely cold and impersonal throughout our stay - and a stark contrast coming from the St Regis whose butler arrangements and service levels eclipse every single of its peers.

Have been the most fervent patron of Cathay Pacific first/business class for the last couple years but the service at the hotel arm of Swire did not match up to the aviation arm at all. We were ignored many times when entering/exiting the hotel when the front desk was just chatting amongst themselves loudly. For a hotel of 120 keys there was a lot of room for improvement in terms of delivering personalized service.

The pop up store in the lift lobby dilutes the tranquil ambience that the hotel has always had, and the crowds are honestly very disturbing to guests staying in and taking away recreational space we otherwise would have had.

I was first shown to a room for which the desk was too small and claustrophobic. I was disappointed as an acquaintance of mine had very high regards of the desk/working area of rooms at this hotel. The phone operator/team displayed poor attitude nor any eagerness in trying to resolve my concerns. The subsequent resolution and its related process took too long and required too much of my own effort and initiative and was not luxury hotel standards by any sense.

Some of the gym equipment was shut down due to the recent situation, but even disregarding that the gym offering is inadequate and disappointing for a hotel of this level. The equipment were dated.

The most disappointing part was breakfast. We were not welcomed at the reception and the receptionist asked if we had a reservation...as if we walked into the wrong place. We were not offered all the choices in our set breakfasts until we had to ask. Our food took a long time to come while at the same time we watched how the staff doted over many other guests and we felt like we were transparent. Also it was very uncomfortable how white/expat guests were sat at the window tables (with some left empty) while us Chinese guests were all seated at the back / less nice tables of the restaurant. Really uncomfortable. The food was of limited variety and quality (no pastries?!) No one cared when we left as well.

The only saving grace of the stay was the efficient and excellent housekeeping team and Janice the guest relations manager who upon departure exhibited a high degree of professionalism and care as there were some unprecedented traffic disruptions nearby. Appreciate how Janice and the team at that time were able to think on their feet in the best interests of their guests. But I wish this level of service would have been felt from the beginning and not only at the very end of the stay.

My husband and I stayed a night in the harbour view suite as staycation. Every detail in the room gave us a "WOW". Firstly it must be the stunning wide harbour view thanks to its corner windows, and secondly the bathroom with a stunning entrance to the bathtub! The room is very luxurious yet you feel very like home, so comfortable that you wanna stay there forever. So we decided not to leave the room much, but to order room service for an afternoon bite and dinner, and I must say the food was so good and delicate even it might have taken some time to travel from the kitchen to our room. And so we got to enjoy the view and the food and relax ourselves in full in our own room.

Even we spent a lot of time in the room we never got bored, other than looking at the stunning view as time passes, there are plenty of movies, exercise programmes (e.g. yoga, intensive workout) and spotify music available for free on the TV. The "maxi" (instead of mini) bar offers free snacks such as chocolates, cookies, nuts, beer, coke, juice, coffee, just to name a few!

By night, although you need to close the curtains in the bathroom, it's still a sublime experience to bath in I would call a perfect bathroom. There's a rain shower and also a standalone bathtub coupled with bath salt and Bamford toiletries (I like its smell so much!). The bathroom is connected with speakers which you can play whatever your TV in the living room is playing, or you may also choose to use the built-in TV in the bathroom which double as a mirror. I however chose to use the Bose wireless speaker (located next to our bed) to play some really zen music. What else can you ask for? Without a doubt the bed is very comfortable, curtains are controlled by a remote control so you don't need to fuss to get up.

In the morning we had breakfast at Cafe Gray, again greeted by the stunning harbour view which gave our morning a refreshing start. Pay a visit to Sky Lounge too, a secluded area to have a drink or two, or simply to enjoy some tranquility.

We were greeted and well taken care of by the friendly and attentive staff at Upper House. It was such a wonderful and unforgettable experience to stay in the number one hotel in Hong Kong.
